Based on the Tourist Board’s recommendations, we stopped by at about 7:30 on a week night. The restaurant was almost empty with a group of about 8 celebrating that night. My husband had the fried lobster, along with a delicious clam chowder. This dish came with refried beans (delicious) + rice (terrible). We also shared a 1/4 of a pound of ceviche (way too much for 2 people...should have ordered an 1/8 of a pound), a broiled lobster with a small salad. One thing to note…the price you pay is not the price on the menu! You have to buy the lobster from the fish market THEN pay the price for preparation. It wound up being almost the same as the US so be sure to clarify this BEFORE you order.

Our trip to La Cocedora de Langosta was a result of friends taking us to their "newest find". The restaurant, at the entrance to Ensenada downtown, is on an off street. It is easy to find on your own or by asking around.

As starters the ceviche with avocado (you have to ask for the avocado to be included) is outstanding.

There are a number of fish and clam dishes, and the clams are water fresh in a holding tank. The fish is fish market fresh since the restaurant is about 39 yards from Ensenada's large and famous fish market.

Shrimp can be ordered from a dozen preparations, and there are 3 types of soup, with Caldo de Siete Mars possibly the best.

This is not a fancy restaurant. The food is good, the service is good and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Our meals were camarones empanizados, Caldo Siete Mars and Pescado Mojo de Ajo. All excellent.

For us as residents at the far end of Ensenada, this was a long drive,

Worth it!

Locals suggested this place for lobster, it is on tourist walk near the cruise lines (we were not on a cruise). We walked in, the place was empty, but to be fair there was not a cruise in town and it was about 6:30pm. Somewhat expected in a tourist district.

We were greeted well, but when we went to the seating area they were taking photos, and asked us to sit in the corner (no big deal --- hungry for seafood), but the heat - keep in mind its in the 60's f outside, so its at least in the 80's in here it was hot.

Basically before we ordered, we decided to leave. As we left, they asked why we were leaving - it was part due to the photo shoot, but mainly the heat. the girl advised - "yes we have a problem with that." Ended up going to another local place in town (see other reviews) and it was excellent. This place may be good, but watch out for the heat - or bring a fan.

(I thought I would add to the review - I have traveled a lot, heat does not bother me, unless - like here - its restricted, if they could have opened windows or had patio seating, I would have stayed.)

heard good things about the place but did not even come close to review, food was marginal which we should have expected when we were the only people in the restaraunt when we walked in. You can find better.oysters rockerfeller was excellent, which was the savior for the evening.
