“Always venture down a dirt road in Baja”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We love Baja and especially Valle de Guadalupe so we are always happy to find yet another wonderful place to eat, drink, and/or listen to music. Finca is one of those great places. One of the stand out things about Baja restaurants is the high level of great service. The wait staff here is helpful, sincere, and proud of their establishment. The food and beverages were unique, super fresh, and all locally sourced. The beautiful, relaxed setting boasts sweeping views of the farmland beyond. The many types of refreshing waters will be a great start to your meal, especially in the warm summer months. We tried the roasted pepper appetizer which was light and perfect. Not usually big meat eaters, all three of us gravitated towards meat dishes and they were sumptuous. My daughter's tacos were delicious with several fresh toppings. My husband's brisket was tender and delicious; my boneless beef rib was perfectly cooked and served with a small side of creamy polenta. I will have to try dessert next time because we were too full on this visit. We will definitely return to try other things...the oysters looked amazing as did the salads and other appetizers. Important tip - make reservations.

“Pretty cool but pricey”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

Nice atmosphere but the food is like this new "Gourmet" thing that going around, and I don't get it? Really tiny portions BUT Very good. does Gourmet have to be tiny by law? seems like ALL the really nice places (Except Sarmientos) give out really tiny plates of food at exorbitant prices. Am I missing something? The service was slow But whats ya hurry itas a really nice place and I will return, Maybe Ill ask about the small servings? haha

“Is worth a trip down to the area”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Finca Altozano is the latest venture of one of the shiniest stars of Baja Med cuisine of Baja California, Mexico: the talented Chef Javier Plascencia. This restaurant stands for all great things Baja, a lovely setting with an amazing view in the heart of la Ruta del Vino, great wine, fantastic food that pays homage to the local ingredients and rustic cooking methods. If you appreciate the sublime experience of a great meal shared with friends and accompanied with great Baja wines, make plans to be there tomorrow.

“Magical evening”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Beautiful food in a beautiful setting. Open air dining on a rustic ranch, complete with cow statuary. Colorful sunset over the mountains and twinkling stars. The food was excellent: highly recommend the octopus & peanut appetizer as well as wood fire grilled peppers. The BBQ/braised short ribs, chicken and steak were also delicious. The lengthy wine and craft beer list reflected the best of Baja.

“Great lunch in the Guadalupe valley”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

My wife and I were spending the weekend in Mexico with friends, and stopped by for lunch when we were in the Guadalupe Valley. We had gone to Mision 19, the sister restaurant in Tijuana, a couple of months ago and enjoyed that very much, and wanted to give this a try. We've been to most all the restaurants in the Guadalupe Valley, and this was as good as any of them. It is just down the dirt road from Laja, another great option. It is an open air restaurant, but the temperature was nice and there was a breeze blowing, so it was extremely pleasant. My polenta with chorizo was rich, creamy and excellence. Others had the chorizo, octopus, tomato salad and mushrooms in sauce - all were terrific. The sangria was outstanding; perfect for this type of day. The staff was attentive and helpful. What a great meal – I will be back!
