“La Paz area beaches”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Water as beautiful and clear as the Caribbean, but with a lot fewer tourists. Then, of course, you look up towards the land and see the dry, cactus-laden hills behind the beach and you know you're in the Baja. Playa Balandra was equally beautiful.

“Gorgeous Beach”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

The Beach is marvellous! Some criticize it for being windy, yes, it is, mostly early mornings and evenings. During day-time is awesome.
Plenty of activities, good sea-food. We had cocktail of shrimps and octopus, live clams, guacamole, it was a bit pricey, but taking into account the fact, that restaurant is far from civilization, the price is reasonable.
Some criticize the all-rocky surface of the beach.
Not true!
It's all gentle white sand all the beach long, the only stripe of rocks (5-6 ft wide) is sort of in front of the restaurant, in the water like hip deep, once you pass it - it's all crystal clear unreal green water and pure sand you can see 2-5 meters down. So, as a conclusion, Tecolote is good for snorkeling. Also, as an added benefit, walking on the rocks massages your feet and stimulates all vital zones of your feet, just like expensive chinese feet massage. To say I prefer sand to rocks to walk upon is like to say i prefer Macdonalds buns to whole grain bread! It's hard, but it's worth it.
One advantage that Tecolote has and Balandra doesn't - mantarayas. At Tecolote there are small waves, and rayas are rare guests. At Balandra you can't step once without stepping on a small raya. They are sunbathing in shallow waters, like on a mantaraya farm! Ugh!

“Best beach around”

Better then Balandra if you don't mind a bit of wind. Stay to the east end though, the west is busy on the weekends and full of garbage.

“Services and restaurants. Good place to depart for Isla Espiritu Santo.”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

This beach is at the end of the road. It does not compare to Ballandra beach in terms of beauty and easy of use, but it does have restaurants, bars, etc. We left for Espiritu Santo from el Tecolote because it saves time. Worth a look!

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

This is a very beautiful beach, with a few restaurants and water activities available. The only negative I have is in regards to the snorkeling, which was just okay.
