This street is the quintessential business district/shopping hub for locals. If you want to experience a typical Mexican/Baja shopping experience, walk this street as well as the little ones off of it. La Paz is a real place...not a manufactured for tourists town, and these shops exemplify what the locals buy, how they dress, what they eat, etc. It's the real deal....from the stands that sell corn in a cup with crema and hot sauce, to cut fruits in a cup with hot sauce, or coconut pieces in a plastic bag with hot sauce, and of course all the shrimp and fish taco carts, too. Try it all! It's all fresh and delicious. One of my favorite stops is the espresso/bakery on the corner 1 block up from the Malecon. There's also a great Chinese restaurant and shop above it. There are tons of store front windows loaded with everything from designer copy purses, sunglasses, cosmetics, etc. Tons of clothing boutiques line all the streets packed with sexy mini skirts, outrageously high heels made in Mexico, and the oddest looking furniture I've ever
seen. It's great fun to just explore....and don't miss trying watermelon water or one of the other fruit frescas offered like tamarindo. Very refreshing.
