“WARNING: Re-booked room and canceled reservation without notification”
Reviewed 26 July 2011

Probably like many others, my wife and I, were attracted to the Casa Verde Inn by the beautiful photos and reviews we had read on various internet travel sites. We phoned them about a week before we were due to travel and arranged to reserve a room. We were told over the phone that we could pay in cash or by Visa when we arrived, and left our home phone number and details for the reservation. We were contacted by mail later the same day and were asked to enter a web site where we again entered the details of our reservation, confirming our intent to stay. Shortly afterwards we received an email providing Paypal information but were not told that prepayment, nor indeed that any type of deposit was required, before a reservation was to be accepted. We believed, and were not at any moment told to the contrary, that our reservation was valid and would be respected.

Although paying for a service in advance is not something we would normally do, we decided to pay via Paypal as we could then use our US Amex card rather than have to pay by cash or Visa at Casa Verde itself. About an hour after making payment, we were surprised to have it returned without any covering email or explanation. Of course a number of things go through your mind; Did I send it to the correct Paypal account? Did they return it in error? Is the reservation ok?

We phoned Casa Verde a few hours later to check up on the reservation and find out why our payment had been returned. The man who answered was both rude and unapologetic, he told us our reservation had been canceled basically there was nothing we could do about it. He gave us the impression that they had sold our room on to someone else. Two days before we were due to leave and we were suddenly without a place to stay!

While Casa Verde may look inviting in the photos I would advise anyone thinking of staying there to think again. Not only did they cancel our reservation, which is bad in itself, but despite having our home telephone number and email didn’t even attempt to let us know, which in my books is just inexcusable.

We never confirm a reservation without a deposit . Our reservation policy is very clear in our website. This person made a reservation by the phone. He never sends the deposit to confirm his reservation and we NEVER confirm his reservation. That's it.

I stayed at Casa Verde Inn with my partner for a few nights, it was a very spacious room that was beautifully decorated and very clean. The courtyard was a tranquil and cooling space that was wonderful to escape to after a busy hot day in La Paz.
The breakfast is perfect and most of all the couple who run this lovely casa are wonderful, they give you the perfect amount of privacy, whilst also being available to answer any questions, great recommendations for eating and enjoying the local sights. I would stay here again with out question a wonderful experience that was well worth the money. Thankyou Cinzia and Roberto

My husband and I couldn't have had a nicer experience than Casa Verde Inn. The inn itself is beautifully and tastefully decorated. We stayed in the purple room which was perfect for us. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Cinzia and Roberto are excellent hosts. They truly made us feel at home. They were very knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great tips, one being the excursion to Espirito Santo Island which was a wonderful day of natural sight seeing, lots of sun and a great lunch. The breakfast that is included in the price is simple, beautifully presented, yummy and served with a smile. We loved our stay at this lovely inn and hope to return soon.Thank you Cinzia and Roberto

We got to La Paz without a place to stay and feeling very tired from the day's visit to Cabo Pulmo. We made a phone call to an apartment owner who said his apt. was not available but recommended Casa Verde Inn. We were so lucky and pleasantly surprised. Cinzia welcomed us and we felt right at home! The rooms are impecable and beautifully and tastefully decorated. The B&B is so cozy and homey we can't wait to go back. Cinzia and her husband Roberto are such wonderful individuals, they even helped us book our tour to Isla Espiritu Santo at the last minute! We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

What a comfortable, charming place to call home. And it did feel like home. The rooms are spacious, the courtyard magical and Cinzia and Roberto went above and beyond to make sure we were cared for. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Each of the rooms is beautiful.

We stayed in Casa Verde from April 18 to 21st, and loved it. Cinzia and Roberto made our stay so much more comfortable with great tips for restaurants and wonderful contacts for tours. First day we pretty much just settle in, went shopping a little bit, have an early dinner and sleep early because I wanted an early day at the beach to avoid crowds. At 8 am, like requested, breakfast was served in the beautiful patio overlooking the pool with the lovely water cascading sound in the background (that and a cup of Joe it´s a wonderful way to start your day). I wasn´t expecting much from the breakfast, I would have settle for coffee and some toast, but I was surprised. Fresh fruit with cottage cheese, coffee, OJ, toast, yogurt and "pan dulce" (like mini muffins), everything so fresh and delicious that I even forgot to take a picture before eating it all (upsss). With a full stomach went to Balandra beach (Roberto's tip: pass the rocks and find a more secluded beach) and spent the whole day chilling under a palapa, reading and trying to swim (the whole bay is not deeper than a few inches of beautiful turquoise water, perfect for kids) but wonderful overall. Totally recommended.
At our arrival Roberto recommended us a great tour to Isla Espiritu Santo to swim with the Sea Lions. He set it up for us and next day they pick us up at our hotel 9 am after another wonderful breakfast. The best money ever spent! Saw hundreds of dolphins, swim in gorgeous white sand, turquoise blue beaches, spend some time swimming with the sea lions and saw wonderful colorful fish and coral. The water at the beginning of April is chilly so I totally recommend renting the wet suits ($10 bucks each). After the swim they took us to this beautiful beach for some guacamole, ceviche and sandwiches lunch (all included) and gave us some time to swim, explore or just chill. Back to the hotel after a much needed shower (their towels are soooo soft, not like the hotel rough cheap ones) and nap, Roberto recommended an Italian restaurant for dinner "Palermo's". Please don´t let the fancy looking waiters with black suits detour you, it's a casual restaurant with good Italian food. Loved the Quatro Frommaggi Pizza and Capresse salad, yummy!!
Oh and before I forget, no matter what time of the year you visit La Paz, a windbreaker is always recommended. We forgot them at home and Roberto and Cinzia saved our lives by lending us a pair. Thanks a lot!!! When you're in the boat the wind is pretty strong and the windbreakers were a blessing.
In conclusion, the Casa Verde Inn is, hands down, my new home in La Paz. Thanks Cinzia and Roberto for a wonderful stay and hope to see you soon!! Gratzie!

Room Tip: I loved the blue guestroom!!
