“TERRIBLE FERRY!!!”

There were so many bad things about the ferry I'll try to just summarize the top 3. First, the departure time we were given was completely inaccurate. We were told to be at the ferry terminal several hours before a 2am departure (not sure why). After arriving at 10.30pm and waiting for a couple of hours we were told the ferry would not be leaving until 6am. We tried (mostly unsuccessfully) to sleep in the terminal only to find out the time had been pushed back again to 8:30am. Unbelievable! By the time everyone boarded the vessel and we left port it was approx 10:30am, 12 hours after we were told to arrive at the terminal! What a waste of time.

The second issue was that the ferry was crowded and dirty. We did not get a cabin but from the looks of them they weren't that great. However, anything would have been better than the "movie room" the rest of the passengers were crowded into. If for some awful reason I had to use this service again I would get a cabin.

The last of my top 3 reasons this ferry sucked is that the boat itself was not very accommodating to passengers. Besides the crowded seating and limited bathrooms, there was very little outdoor seating which would have been a great way to escape the diesel fumes from the countless semi-trucks on the boat. Note that this is not a typical passenger ferry! Another reviewer referred to it as a low end carnival cruise line. I don't think it comes anywhere near this generous description. The ship's primary purpose is to transport vehicles, not people...which is very apparent.

All in all the trip took 20 hours (including our wasted time in the ferry terminal). Good luck fellow travelers. Oh, and you might want to bring your own PFD. All of the life jacket bins we saw were completely empty.

We had read a 2010 review of the ferry between Mazatlan and La Paz and it sounded ok. A quaint way to spend a night at sea to get where we wanted to go. Apparently, between 2010 and 2014 things changed A LOT. HORRIBLE. Crowded, dirty. We couldn't get a cabin, but from what we saw of them, they were none too comfortable, and as dirty and rundown as the rest of the ship. We were with the masses in the "salon" were movies blarred until late in the evening. There was ONE ladies toilet and ONE men's toilet for at least 150-200 people. The food was disgusting, and you had to line up like grammar school to be fed. NEVER TAKE THIS FERRY!

long (16hr) ferry journey, and quite expensive for Mexico. Worth getting a cabin if you want to sleep (4 beds, quite spacious, with private bathroom and towels provided) Evening meal and breakfast included in the price.

$300 usd for 2 people in bunk beds and a motorcycle, AHOY! It's a low end Mexican Carnival Cruise, with edible meals and can beer or soda, that's it. The Nachos were actually not bad.

Since it;s a monopoly, shut up and enjoy the ride!

Nice over night slow boat across the gulf. Sleeper and coach options - travelers can mill about a couple of decks during the voyage. The bus ride on the peninsula was also slow due to security stops every two hours.
