I've lived many years in Mexico city and travelled to many places within the country. I must say La Paz is the safest city I ever visited. People are relaxed, friendly and helpful. Even their driving is polite and safe, and there is no problem at all walking around at night. Within the city, Esther's B&B is a delightful cozy place full of details. The courtyard is beautifully decorated and you can hear the birds in the morning even though you are downtown. Esther knows the area very well and she is great help to plan your trip. Definetely top choice when visiting la paz! And if you want to swim with peaceful whale sharks, look up for Carey diving shop! top noch!

Thanks Esther for a wonderful stay in your B&B over Christmas. Your inn is a peaceful haven just a stone-throw away from the Malecon - La Paz' waterfront. We loved the comfortable room we stayed in; the delicious breakfast (generous and healthy - a great way to start the day!); and the lovely and tranquil courtyard where we could read under a tree or enjoy a cup of coffee! Charming, really!

We can only recommend El Angel Azul to anyone staying in La Paz or passing through as we did.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at El Angel Azul - The room was large, tastefully decorated, comfortable and clean. Esther and her local staff focus on ensuring that the BnB and its guests have minimal impact on Baja's fragile ecosystem by stressing the importance of sustainable tourism. Her menagerie of dogs who are well behaved and friendly (special mention for Yoda look alike Manja and enthusiastic puppy Chico) add to the homely feel. The structure which was originally built as the central court house for all of Baja California in the late 19th century, was tastefully restored by Esther over the last decade and has an eclectic decor of local and colonial furnishings. The BnB is close to the waterfront and restaurants. La Paz itself was a delightful sea side town where we felt safe (day or night) and can be used as a staging post for land or water based activities (kayaking, snorkling, diving, surfing, dirt / quad biking etc) in either the Sea of Cortez (Espiritu Sanctu island, Cabo Pulmo, Balandra etc) or the Pacific (Magdalena Bay etc). Esther who first came to Baja as a surfer, can recommend suitable sites and activities for people with varying interests and skill levels. The BnB also has an onsite bar, bookshop and clothing store! My wife and I enjoyed our time at el angel azul and would highly recommend it - all the very best to the entire team!

Room Tip: Contact Esther by email and she would suggest the perfect room for you

This place is awesome. Such a unique place. Loved it! Esther was a great host. Rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast was great too. Centrally located to all the restaurants, bars and Malecon. Can't beat it! Parking was free, safe and easy too!

We enjoyed four wonderful nights at El Angel Azul on a recent trip to Baja. Esther and her staff are charming and gracious hosts. The building has been beautifully renovated from a 19th C courthouse to a stylish, modern boutique style B & B with cozy, spotless rooms and a shared courtyard landscaped with tropical and desert plants. It's a perfect place to relax after long days of swimming, kayaking or fishing around the Bay. Esther recommended excellent restaurants and helped to arrange an unforgettable trip to Isla Espiritu Santo.
