“THIS IS STILL A NICE PLACE TO VISIT!!”
Reviewed 19 March 2013

I have been visiting Rosarito Beach from 2000 to 2010 each March and Summer! This used to be a party spot much equivalent to that of Vegas. All of the publicity and bad media has turned away many tourists over the years and it has mellowed out so much! I remember when there were summer concerts at Club Iggy’s. I have seen Snoop Dogg, The Game, Lloyd Banks, Ying Yang Twins, DJ Quik and the list goes on and on. We have now settled to creating our own party at Iggy’s Corner, and the DJ always obliges. I will only stay at the Rosarito Beach Hotel and have visited all of the many room types. I have gotten spoiled because I will only stay in a Penthouse suite now. That are newer, however, I love the whole hotel even thought there are parts that could use some upgrading. It is centrally located and near everything. Let’s not forget that there is a beautiful spa with reasonable prices. This is still a nice place to visit and the only way to get it back to its GLORY DAYS is to visit. The economy is very bad there because no one is visiting like they used to. The hotel cannot make the necessary upgrades if they are not making money. IT IS THE WAY OF THE WORLD. Iggy was one of the richest club owners there and always thanked the tourists for coming as well as giving away cash prizes and doing the unexpected things like throwing $5000 in the pool to get folks to jump in with their clothes on! He did not look so good when I saw him in 2010. I would love to get a 55 seat bus load on over there like I used to. I must also add that Puerto Nuevo that is a 20 min. cab ride away has the best lobster ever and the locals treat you very well!!

I spent the night here last week. The weather was terrible - cold gray and rainy although weather.com told us it was going to be 86 and sunny! This hotel was pretty dead - 2 people at the bar a few in the restaurant and not much else going on. It is very outdated and needs a major renovation. There was no heat in our room and it was 50 degrees out but I was able to get a portable heater at the front desk - for which I am still grateful! If you are going for a quick overnight this place will be adeqaute but I really would not want to stay longer than that. Definetly get the fast pass which they give you on check out and allows you to basically fly through the border. We bypassed a good two hours of traffic and waited less than 5 minutes at the border - huge plus for the hotel.

This hotel has a great location, it is just by the beach and has a harbor where you can go to take pictures and fish if you would like to. There are also great restaurants on site and the rooms are very comfortable and very luxurious in the new section.

If you think that this is a dangerious vacation location you are absolutely wrong! Please give Rosarito a shot and you will love it. It has the weather of San Diego and is very well vigilated by the police and the mexican army.

Room Tip: If you are not willing to pay an extra for a fancy room, choose the coronado tower, the hotel might...

I went to Rosarito after hearing it was a party spot for young professionals but it was practically dead when we went. Even Papas and Beer was dead on a Sat night. There were very few young people, mostly families and middle age couples. There was no one walking around at night so we mostly stayed at the hotel bar for karaoke. Supposedly it will pickup during spring break and summertime.
Rosarito wasn't what I expected; there were very few shops and nice restaurants. Food choices mostly consisted of taco stands, seafood and a few Asian restaurants. There were many vacant building which closed a few years ago because of a decline in tourism
Unfortunately is was a bit too cool for swimming but there were a few places to get food and drink on the beach or ride horses
Hotel was basic and clean with beach access and a big pool, although pool was freezing in March
I was disappointed about the WiFi because I needed it for work but overall hotel wasn't bad

My friends and I took a mini-vacation to Rosarito for the first weekend of March. I've heard so much about Rosarito for years and was very excited to visit, but it seems that it has been harmed greatly by the declining tourism due to the economy and media portrayals of Mexico as a dangerous destination. Rosarito Beach Hotel, despite the declining business within the town, maintains their high prices as there is a constant stream of visitors due to its fame. We stayed at the Coronado Tower, and the conditions of the room did not meet our expectations or the prices.

I would say Coronado Tower is the least desirable out of the three buildings at the hotel- it is not as close to the beach as the Playas, and not as modern as the condo/hotel Pacifico Tower. Our room was very mediocre, and while the bathrooms were very clean, rest of the room felt old with several items needing to be replaced. The ocean views and the calming sounds of the waves were great, but then again, we did pay extra for that.

The service was decent and all the employees are friendly, but I always had to wait longer than usual whether I was asking a question about the eateries in Rosarito or requesting extra towels. I don't know if they are understaffed, or if it was just a very busy weekend, but it was somewhat frustrating. However, there is a very nice gentleman in the lobby you can ask about Rosarito- he is very knowledgeable, and all he asks is that he take 15 minutes of your time and tell you about real estate opportunities in Rosarito.

The hotel offers great restaurants and bars, with ATV tours, and small shops across the parking lot. Plus, its great location to the notable party spots in Rosarito, such as Iggy's and Papas & Beers, makes it definitely the place to stay in Rosarito. Just don't inflate your expectations too much based on its reputation.

Every time we go to this hotel we have a nice relaxing time. We get our fruits salad and tostilocos at the beach and enjoy them in our room with a beautiful sunset. The hotel has events throughout the year that you can enjoy. I recommend the Playas or Pacifico to stay in. Make sure you get the upper floors they are the ones with the best views. They have kitchenettes and all you need for a relaxing stay. The buffett is really good or if you prefer to eat out, there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. If in the mood for shopping, food, bakeries, sweets, or getting your hair done no need to drive. You can go for a walk in the evening and it's pretty tranquil. I love going there every chance I get. Better when weather is hot. It tends to get cool there even in warm weather and may not be able to enjoy the pools. Beware of the sales people.

Room Tip: Reserve rooms in the Playas on upper floor and in the Pacifico above the 10th floor for a better vie...

So, there are 3 towers here, Coronado tower (old tower), Playas tower (also old) and Pacifico tower (the big tomer, the newest one). I have been in Pacifico and now in Playas never been in Coronado tower.

This review is for Playas tower, I made my reservation and ask for an Ocean View room with a king size, they wanted to give me a two queen, so after I requested AGAIN the king bed they decided to give me a Jr suite with a king bed BUT with a partial Ocean view since it was in the 1st floor and the garden was in the way, however it was a good view and SUPER close to the beach.

Room was nice, bed confortable, shower very good (with cold and hot water and you could adjust it anytime). TV was VERY old, but with some good channels, even some US channels, we got our breakfast in the Pankae Republic (restaurant just at the entrance of the Hotel) and it was the best breakfast you can get in town!!!

overall very good, they might want to check their proces since it is a bit High, but still a very good.

Room Tip: Pacifico Tower is kind of... more "elegant" however the prices are very high, if you look...
