“Construction Noise”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2007

We stayed at the RBH August 6 though 10, 2007. We stayed in a two bedroom suite on the North side of the new tower. The noise and music from the neighboring club was very loud until 3 a.m. Additionally, the RBH is presently constructing on hotel grounds a large new tower of privately owned hotel rooms which will not be completed until 2008. As a result, there was very very loud construction noise (i.e jackhammers, etc.) from 10 am until 4 pm daily. The noise at the main pool was deafening.

My family and I stayed here for a few days for a weekend getaway, but it ended up being a stressful weekend instead of a pleasent one. The beach itself was filthy, the pool was way over capacity and the water looked dingy. When we entered our rooms we found roaches. We had a one bedroom with additional couch sleeper, that was so old that I went to lay in the bed and the whole mattress dented falling into the middle of the frame. Management took over an hour to get the problem resolved, which the resolution was not much better. They swaped the couch from our room with another room, and shortly later still rented that room to a family with kids knowing the bed was unsafe not mention almost impossible to sleep in. They do not have air in these rooms, but will provide you with a fan if you are lucky only after you complain a few times, but my main complaint is with the staff, not only were we having so many problems, we then had to deal with a rude woman at the front desk all weekend, whom If I recall correctly was a supervisor. That was most disappointing that the staff made sure to make us feel like they were doing us some special favors. For $200 per night you would expect decent service at the least. We did although enjoy our services in there beauty spa. It was a bit pricey but worth it. It was relaxing and very pleasent, I would return to visit the spa only.

There was a problem as soon as we got there because the person who paid for the hotel was not with us. It was obvious they were treating us unfairly because we were young. In the end they gave us a hole in the wall room with no view (which we had asked for) and they charged us $200/night for. It was not worth it at all and the people at the front desk were very rude.

Absolutely terrible!! Quoted a different price over the phone, then they said to cancel would be a 75% charge!!! This hotel is great for the freshly turned 18 year old that's willing to drop $150 so they can party close to rosarito nightlife, but for someone who expects a little customer service for paying that much in MEXICO, rosarito beach hotel isn't for you. Drive 5 miles down the road and stay at los rocas or calafia, less $ and better service.

I booked my hotel for two nights in advance. THANK GOODNESS I decided to print the invoice and take it with me to Mexico. When we checked in I spent HALF AN HOUR argueing with the front desk. They insisted that the room rate was more expensive then they told me. Even though I HAD A PRINTED RECEPT. They refused to honor THEIR OWN RECEIPT. After we get into the room, the room was then old and moldy. The service here was just terrible the entire weekend. Our entire group felt like we were getting ripped off the entire weekend. Which you should never feel like when visiting a another country.

The restaurant in the hotel is also OVERPRICED, AND THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE. My best advice to any traveler is to stay someone else, and do not touch the food here. You can get yourself a cheap, AMAZING meal anywhere else is Rosarito.

  • Liked — When we got to leave.
  • Disliked — The entire experience at this hotel.

I stayed her with my wife and four friends during the summer. We paid for a room for four people. Upon check-in, we received wrist bands and were told that they were required to get to our rooms after 9 pm. We had four friends with us who did not receive wrist bands and we were hoping would be able to just sleep on the floor. Unfortunately, they charge a large extra rate for extra people to stay in the room. Nevertheless, we though we could trick them (and could have) using similarly colored wristbands from Iggy's.

Our room was a standard Mexican room with ugly decorations and did not appear very clean. I have stayed other places in mexico and gotten similar quality for a much better price. We thought that the room was alright overall. The bathroom was not up to the price though.

The hotel is layed out resort style, which is kinda nice. They have some buffets and a seemingly nice pool and beach area and what not. We did not spend much time there as we were eager to get out and see the nightlife. However, when we returned to our hotel that night, two of our friends were able to casually walk into the hotel with the fake wrist bands. We had ours and got in no problem without being checked. Our other two friends, however, were a little intoxicated and drew too much attention and were caught. They were not able to get in until the wee hours of the morning and spent a few hours in the car.

We decided not to stay another night and were promptly refunded our money with any hassle. Our cars were parked securely in the parking lot. The location is great. Other than that, there's not much reason to stay here. On a return trip we looked up some local condos that were much nicer and better valued and let a number of us stay there. I would rather do that again than stay here.

Besides the hotel being extremely run down, the staff WILL break into your room minutes after you leave it and they WILL find SOMETHING to steal from you! They will then give you the run around and do nothing to find out who stole from you or how to get your belongings back...this is because IT IS THE STAFF STEALING FROM YOU! Someone broke into our room minutes after we left and stole cell phones and a digital camera that was buried in a luggage bag. They obviously knew when we were going to be out of the room and for how long. PLEASE DON'T BRING ANYTHING OF VALUE TO THIS SO CALLED RESORT!

RBHSALES, Sales Manager at Rosarito Beach Hotel, responded to this review, 6 June 2007
In this particular case, when the guest approached to the Hotel staff with his claim
Our personnel responded by following a very strict protocol:
As the guest declared that the items in question were taken from his luggage in his
Room, we verified all entries into the guest’s room thru our computerized lock reading
System, and found no other entries, besides his own key card.
Then as required by company procedures, we suggested to the guest that we call
Local authorities to report the incident and to begin an investigation. At this point,
The guest declined the assistance both of our staff and of the local authorities, forcing
Us to end any further assistance.
We take all our guests’ problems seriously and in doing so we have trained our staff
To respond promptly with all the appropriate procedures for such matters.
We have the highest rate in repeat customers in the Rosarito area and great pride in
Our service.
