“Great Spring Break Spot”

If you are going to San Felipe to party for spring break I would recomend the el capitan. It is your basic hotel..beds arnt that much confortable but its mexico..reminds me of your basic american motel 6.....the plus of this hotel is that it is closer to the 2 clubs the beachcomber and rockidile, and the beach is across the street. Shops are near by and the hotel is pretty much located in the center of the town. I wouldnt really stay here if i were with my family on vacation though..this is more of a hotel were all you do is sleep. When i went there WAS hot water, our a/c and heater worked, there is a small pool to swim or hang out around.

There is a restraunt in the hotel that is a great place to hang out before you go to the club. I would also recomend a restraunt called rice and beans it is before the rockidile club across from the beach.

I enjoyed my stay at the El Capitan, and the restaurant there is great food and reasonable priced, with great service and attention. Room was little pricey, as I expected little less cost, food there made it even out. Basic type room, with large shower. Brochure is pictured exactly as what is available. One block from beach and Malecon. Made walking easy and thing to do for shopping and sight seeing.

I have been riding into San Felipe on dirt bikes for 20 years and have stayed at El Capitan for most of those. You have to remember this is Baja and things are a little rustic. We have always had; clean room, hot water, lights and TV.

Restaurant is good but we always either grase for dinner or El Nido for steak. Do eat breakfast in the restaurant. Do miss the auto-parts store in the lobby, handy with dirt bikes.

VERY basis hotel. No phones, no lamps. Overhead lights. NO hot water.
Barely warm both at night and in the morning. Let it run for 10 minutes and still no change. This is in chilly weather. Bed sheets were clean, floors and bathrooms clean. Personally think that $70 a day is too much for this hotel. Good location for walking around town.

This was my first trip to San Felipe. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were $55.00. No key deposit. The rooms are not fancy, but the beds were comfortable and bed linens clean. Great shower, lots of hot water!! The pool was heated and clean. However, the lounge chairs could have used some scrubbing! The restaurant was wonderful!! Great food, very clean, wonderful staff. Worried about getting sick, I ate most every meal here!! Have the Tortilla soup!

The rooms are basic but clean and are relatively cheap (US$35--there is a $5 key deposit as well, don't forget it when you leave). We should have gone directly across the road to the Costa Azul (it must have been better)--this was a Wednesday and the restaurant was therefore closed (no free margarita as was advertised--but who would miss one more crummy margarita). Still, when we asked whether the restaurant was open in the evening, we were told it was. We then found that it was open to a private party that did not include us.

The pool was dirty and not heated.

This is not some fussy gringo looking for luxury. I have stayed in s**** hotels from London to LA. This is just one more. There are likely many better in San Felipe. Look elsewhere.
