The new location is great.. Cleaner and nicer. The meals however are so so and not consistent. Hopefully they keep working at it.

Thank DonnaDarlene

On a recent trip to San Felipe, Mexico, with friends (six of us in all), we discovered a little "hole in the wall" restaurant called "The Green House" which is also called "The Green Patio". We all went there for breakfast (based on the recommendation of a local man sitting on a curb watching the tourists pass by) and were served utterly delicious meals - all of us agreed we would have to go back for more! We watched as the owner hand squeezed the orange juice we had all ordered and for $1.00 U.S. we were given a very generous glass of the juice (served in a "chimney" glass). Our breakfast waitress spoke limited English, but we were able to communicate easily and we all received just what we'd ordered. The prices began at $2.25 U.S. for a breakfast special and went up to about $5 or $6 for some of the omelettes and specialty items.

We returned for dinner and were waited on by Paula (the owner), who spoke no English and kept rattling things off in Spanish which none of us could understand. Each of us ordered something different from the other. The menu is printed on one side in English and the other in Spanish, so we were easily able to pick out our choices from the English side and translate them into Spanish. First we were all given a "free" bowl of Tortilla soup, which we did not order, for which Paula proudly produced a certificate from the Rotary club praising her soup. It was no wonder she received the certificate - the soup, we all agreed, was wonderful. Then the meals were served. They came out of the kitchen looking like they were prepared by a gourmet chef in a five star restaurant and we were so impressed we took pictures of all of the platters! And, let me tell you, the food was every bit as good as it looked - not one of us was disappointed in our meal.

The prices were very reasonable - $20.00 U.S. easily covered two meals and an assortment of drinks - one even included a huge margarita with hand squeezed lime juice. The $20.00 we paid per couple also included a generous tip.

We returned for another wonderful breakfast the next day and again for dinner and not one of us was disappointed in anything we were served. Paula and her fantastic restaurant, it turned out, was one of the highlights of the trip for all of us.

When walking to the restaurant, we passed a closed up "The Green House". Paula had moved further down the street to a smaller place with a patio in front where you can eat if you choose. If you do sit on the patio, however, you will miss out on all the fun of watching Paula squeeze oranges, lemons and limes for her juices and seeing all the locals come in and chat with her. The patrons were a mixture of local Hispanic people and transplanted U.S. citizens, all of whom love Paula and her food! We mentioned the restaurant to several local business people we encountered and every one of them agreed it was the best in town!
