My parents and I decided to visit TJ for 2 nights. The hotel was easy to locate after crossing the border. An Oxxo which is similar to a seven eleven is right next door. The staff was curtious, the buffet was tasty with lots of seasonal fruits, omelets and mexican breakfast fare. The hotel hall ways need a revamping.. they were dark and smelly. The room was clean and comfortable. However be very careful upon entering and exiting the bathtub shower stall. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. I also liked its proximity to restaurant row. And the Maria Bonita Bar in the hotel has great drinks and tasty botanas....

Room Tip: We stayed in 1207 the hallways smelled like cigarettes.

Nice location, felt safe, across the road from a store... Had 3 restaurants of different styles, definantly a 5 star for Mexico! Escalators, parking on site, elevators.... staff was attentive and room was clean/comfy.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floors seem to have free breakfast and better wifi.

If you want comfort and sleep go to the Marriott. Location is the only good thing about this hotel. Constant traffic on the roundabout outside hotel, noisy corridors, old and shabby decor. Not a good experience

The bad
The entire hotel looks like it needs some major maintenance. The elevators have graffiti etched all over, the hallways are dirty, the main lobby has furniture that are literally falling apart. The rooms were average. Lots of scratches on the desk and side tables. A bit dusty too. The place in general looks like it needs work. The hotel walls are dirty and the glass atrium is full of dust and grime. However, the worst part of this hotel is the front staff. The front desk people seemed arrogant and rude. They didn't even say hello when checking in, they just tossed me my room key after i gave them my ccard and info. When I asked general questions about the hotel it seemed like I was asking for a kidney. They don't like interacting with people and it shows. When I called front desk for the wifi code they "accidentally" hung up on me...twice.

The good

The bathrooms were large and clean, and the ac was nice and quiet. the location is ok. Thats it.

This is by far the worst Camino Real hotel I have ever stayed in. They run a large luxury chain of hotels in Mexico and most are usually very good. For the price I paid, $120 , it was a complete joke. This was once considered the best in TJ and now it's mediocre at best. The reviews are definitely on the mark. I would highly recommend you avoid this hotel like the plague. If you must stay please do not pay a cent more that $40 a night....believe me you will regret it.
Also, be careful with you're credit cards. I saw two customers checking out who said they were charged twice for deposit, and another said that they had not taken off an authorization. Use cash.

Room Tip: they're all going to be about the same.

Stayed here on a Saturday and it was the worst experience ever. Front desk was ok not the greatest. Room was terrible, filthy, smelled funky, outdated and hallways were loud at night. Wouldn't do it again!
