“Average hotel, enough for business trips”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

The hotel is clean and staff is nice. Location is convinient and breakfast as usual. The Internet is very slow and beds are not comfortable. There is a big parking lot without any charge and also a big meeting room.

This hotel is right on D15 heading south out of Nogales, Senora. It is a great location if traveling through, is new and looks like a typical Holiday Inn Express anywhere in Canada or the States. It is very quiet as it is set back off the highway which made for a very peaceful, restful sleep. However, the only ventilation in the room was provided by the in-room A/C, fan combo. The windows do not open. Behind the blind was the nastiest mounds of mold on both sides of the window that I have ever seen - GROSS! The room smelled very "stale" in the morning when we woke up and condensation was dripping down the window . Most likely new construction moisture but the hotel needs to get a handle on this - run fans and open the rooms that have no occupants. It will be absolutely disgusting in short order!! The construction is very substandard - thin chipped arborite counters in the lobby, breakfast area counters and tables and in the room. Carpet joins aren't tight and are starting to separate and run. The towel bar was loose and not tightly secured to the wall. We didn't use it for fear it would fall off. The bed spread was badly soiled as was the carpet both of which looked like baby oil had been spilled on them. There was very poor water pressure in the bathroom sink and there was no hair dryer. I would spend a few more dollars and stay in a more expensive hotel. We paid 950.00 pesos for 2 people which definitely isn't the cheapest of Mexican hotels.

Room Tip: Ask to inspect the room first and look around the window frame and in the bathroom for mold!!

City Express Nogales (Prol. Av. Alvaro Obregon, No. 4200 (at Nueva Checoslovaquia), Col. Neuvo Nogales, Nogales, Sonora, C.P. 84092, 800-248-9397, web: www.cityexpress.com.mx). Room 307 was a tiny bit smaller than the room we had at the City Express Los Mochis but it was fine. We unpacked and were working on our computers when guests moved into the room next door. The connecting door was not soundproof and neither was the door to the hall. It was very noisy and the prospect was for more noise all night. We moved to Room 207 and the man at the front desk promised not to put anyone next door to our new room. It was just fine. We spent M$557 (exchange rate $13.10 = $1).

This is not a bad hotel for this side of Mexico. And rely pretty darn safe if you don't know anybody locally. Just as a tip and rule of thumb... Always get to where your staying indoors before sunset in this part of Mexico. Border towns are a different beast.

Room Tip: My handicap room had a nice ig bathroom.

Room Tip: do not stay in floor two south side, to close to there service equipment, a rumble all night

The hotel is OK, we booked thru Orbitz and when we arrived they didn't have our reservation, had to e-mail it directly to the front desk. There was an issue with the payment for the first night, the credit card number they got from Orbitz didn't work according to the hotel staff, they made us aware of that on the 3rd day of our stay, and wanted us to leave an open voucher even though we had already paid for our stay when booking on Orbitz, we asked them to contact Orbitz, we got a call again in the afternoon with the same issue, again we asked them to contact Orbitz to solve the issue since we had paid for our stay. That same day at 11:00PM we got a call from the person in charge of the front desk demanding us to go downstairs and sign an open voucher because they needed to be protected in case they couldn’t get payment from Orbitz, who calls a hotel guest at 11:00PM with such a demand, according to the employee they tried to contact Orbitz all day long and were not able to speak with anyone. What bothers me the most is that the guest is the one that has to solve the problem they have with Orbitz, after having an argument with the employee we called Orbitz at 11:30PM and we were able to speak with one of their representatives who happened to be very helpful and confirmed that we shouldn’t be bothered with that issue and it is the hotel responsibility to call them directly, we had to get the payment info from Orbitz and relay it to the employee who wasn’t able to speak directly with the Orbitz representative (he claimed he didn’t speak English), the employee kept demanding for a ridiculous amount of information from Orbitz that we got to a point where the representative asked us to get the employee on the phone and with his limited Spanish gave him a phone number the hotel can use to get help from Orbtiz Hotel Support. So if you decide to stay at this hotel and book thru any means other than directly with them, be aware that there may be issues that you will have to solve for them, you may be bothered at unacceptable hours, and be treated inappropriately.
