“Visiting the old town square”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 February 2013

The Zocalo is the name for the Main Square in the old town.

It takes about 90 minutes to leisurely walk there from the Hotel Acapulco Malibu (or you can take a bus for 6 pesos).

My husband and I like to walk there and work up an appetite so we can eat the delicious thin-crust pizza at the Slice of Pizza restaurant on the right as you face the old, small Catholic Church (which you MUST visit the inside)

With our stomach full of pizza, we usually take a local bus back to the hotel (which will stop in front of the Malibu if you tell the driver, even though there is no official bus stop there. The buses will even pick you up at a non-stop, if you flag them down.)

“Where the locals go”

This place is a true taste of the average folks in Acapulco. The sights are interesting. Ice cream and other local cuisine is available as well as bargain keep sakes.
