“new memories from OLD”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

Loved visiting OLD ACAPULCO via bus tour. The stop at the Cathedral downtown afforded many photos of the interior. The blue and gold vibrant colors encompassed the statues, many which might appear "scary" and sacriligious to the American born. The overall downtown area is a sight not to be missed, from the vast array of stores to the huge slices of New York style pizza at the Zocalo!

“Some good areas some not so good.”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

We toured this area with a guide, recommended. We ate at the place that was a staying place for many a Hollywood celebrity. John Wayne, Red Skelton etc., it was older but cool to imagine those folks hanging out there. Can't remember the name of it however, the food wasn't that stellar anyway. It did have a great ocean view though.

Great history, Make sure you do it with Benjamin Alarcon. He's the best Licensed Tour Guide. Gotta visit the Chapel to see the awesome views of the Old City. You will also see the homes of Hollywood's celebs!

“Old time Acapulco a must visit”
Reviewed 3 March 2014 via mobile

Yes it's old and rustic and in certain parts dirty but old/traditional Acapulco is a must visit when visiting this city.

Starting with centro/Zocalo where you have the cathedral built back in the 60's as a backdrop for a movie you have restaurants and shops and families gathering in the evenings for shows or other musical venues.

Purchase you souvineers here at a fraction of what you will pay in other parts of town.

After the zocalo hop a bus to Playa Caleta and sample the local foods and people who visit here in wide numbers daily. The restaurant La Cabana is widely visited by snowbirds and tourists alike and serves up some terrific seafood.

Now hop a cab and head up the hill to the hotel Los Flamingos. This is where it all began back in the late 40's and 50's when the hotel was owned by many from hollywood especially John Wayne and Johnny Weissmueller. The hotels view is 2nd to none with an unobstructed view of the pacific. In the winter months if your fortunate you can see whales from the patio while sipping on their wonderful and potent margaritas.

The hotel has seen better days but it makes you imagine just what it was like when all the big time celebrities were there. There is a wall of fame there and they have pictures of anyone who has been there. Most recently Halle berry and John Travolta have visited this city.

Acapulco is making a comeback slowly but surely 2014 was a rebound year for sure.
