“Nice beach front with geat design”

We made and exchange with RCI and booked Grand Mayan Acapulco. We drove from Mexico City and got there with no trouble, the resort entrance is exactly in front of where we got off the highway of Punta Diamante in the newer part of Acapulco. We enjoyed the place, it is huge with beautiful architectural design, the master suites are big, clean and very confortable, the pool area is nice but does not have any sun shade, the beach is beautiful. The restaurants look nice but they do not have any ambience and were almost empty the 8 days we stayed, for this reason we chose not to eat at the resort restaurants and found a wonderful mall a few minutes of driving distance with plenty places to have lunch or dinner. The resort is great, it only needs some maintenance as we found loose tiles in the pool, odor in the lakes due to rotten grass excessively grown into the water and some infestation in the coconut palms.
If you are not an owner and plan to visit through RCI, here are a few recommendations:
1. Do not be confused with Mayan Acapulco or Sea Garden Acapulco... those belong to the same brand but they have nothing to be compared with Grand Mayan Acapulco, we visited these other sites and were disapointed, specially with Sea Garden.
2. Do not take the tour they offer, they say it is a 50 min tour but that is not true at all. When we said that we were not interested on buying, they lower the originally given price to the half and kept insisting for too long. They neither gave us what they offered for taking the tour.
3) If you are not owner consider a US$20 charge per person for every day you use the Gym. There are also extra charges for internet and wifi.
4. When we booked in we were never told of an extra dayly fee of around US$5, charged on your bill, it is not very much but I believe we should have been informed.
5. The resort is not suitable for people with disabilities or old persons, the use of a wheel chair may be very difficult.

“Great resort, fabulous tour guide”

While the Grand Mayan is a fabulous resort the highlights of our trip were the times we spend touring with Baldo Gomez. From the time he met us at the airport holding a sign with our name on it, through the guided tour of Acapulco and shopping, to the fishing and dining in more remote villages he was always someone we could trust and enjoy. He has a great knowledge of the area through his life experiences and Mexican History degree, and his English is excellent. We always felt safe in his hands and recommendations. His transportation is first rate; a clean, air conditioned, roomy Suburban with cold beverages in the back. He has a terrific sense of humor and is open to suggestions and questions. You can set the agenda and pace or turn the trip over to Baldo; in either case you are bound to enjoy the experience!

“Relaxation at its best”

The property is located 26 Km (16 miles) out of the city and the famous bay. it is located among many condos building with very few hotels. few restaurants are around and if you need some shopping a $5 cab will take you to the nearest shopping center (about 5 min. drive). A full day trip to the city will cost you about $70. I recommend to take a cab just out side the the property you can save about 20% on the price.

the apartment - very spaciousness, functional with working kitchen, clean and well maintained, amazing views from the balcony that also has a small refreshing pool.

The crew - very pleasant, friendly and willing to help in any way they can.

The beach - steps away from the main building where most or the room are. it has lots sun shelters with chairs and lounges. the near by cafe will serve you light snacks and drinks.

the property - extremely well maintained, with few large pools, several restaurants and cafes, the lobby is very inviting and elegant.

All good nothing bad to say about our stay.

“Wonderful time in Acapulco”
Reviewed 23 February 2012 for a stay in January 2012

From our arrival in Acapulco we were greeted by Benjamin Alarcon at the airport. He drove us to the Grand Mayan and took us shopping for food and on other occasions took us to some wonderful resturants. He spoke wonderful Englist and was heipful in all aspects of our trip. He assured us that the area of the Grand Mayan and Acapulco was safe for us to be spending our vacation. I got his information on tripadvisor, a good place to get information and travel ideas.

“Wonderful time at the Grand Mayan”
Reviewed 19 February 2012 for a stay in February 2012

My wife and I, my cousin and her husband, and a good friend of ours stayed at the Grand Mayan, Acapulco, in a two bedroom, sleeps eight, time share exchange apartment from Feb. 3 to Feb. 10, 2012. We had a wonderful time and want especially to mention the marvelous tours we arranged with our guide, Ricardo Alvarez Avila. Ricardo took us to see sights we could never arrange on our own and provided us with background information so we could better understand what we were seeing. His friend Jerry also was able to take us on a beautiful boat trip on the ocean near Acapulco the day before we had to leave. We highly recommend Ricardo and Jerry to future visitors at the Grand Mayan. They will help make your stay much more enjoyable.
