It's a good spring break hotel. The place has a lot if miles on it, but it has a fun atmosphere. Most everything is out of date in this hotel. They still have regular keys to all the rooms, which there are many copies around. So, theft is very common here. You can have a wonderful time here, but exhibit common sense with your valuables and try not to spend much time in the rooms.

Disgusting hotel. Stay away.

1. Check in- took over two hours since buses full of lower class Mexicans arrive every single day during Christmas break. No AC at all. There is a 20 inch tv in the reception area.

2. Staff- Super rude. Staff speaks no English at all. At the pool, the towels lady was very rude and by the end of our trip she told she had to act that way due to the type of guests they get. They have to mark all their towels with a sharpie since people steal other guests towels, so be ready to get into a big argument if someone changes your towel and your towel number does not match the number they have in their system (a notebook).

3. Rooms- Disgusting. Mold everywhere. AC unit runs with key, so the room smells like crap. Bathrooms are old and full of mold. Toilet was dirty when we arrived and a really rude lady came and wiped the toilet seat with a napkin and said...''is it clean enough now". The tv was a 19 inch old tv which didnt work. The phone in our room did not work. The sheets smelled terrible, we had to put towels over the pillows. We tried to be in the hotel room the least possible.

4. Food- Really bad. Same food everyday and reuse leftovers over and over again. I saw the lady that works at the grill area grab a burger that someone left and grill it again for another guest. It was disgusting.

5. Pool- It smelled terrible.Water was brown On day two I saw a diaper floating in the middle of the pool, classy.

6. Beach- Acapulco's beach is perfect though get ready to be harrassed all day long by vendors and trashy people offering jet skis and banana rides. The beach is public so you will have to pay vendors to rent chairs and umbrellas. Mexican marines are everywhere carrying huge weapons.

We've been going to the Playa Suites for over 20 years....in a row. When we arrive it starts with the bellboys, so happy to see us. From there our friend ALBA has taken care of everything we need, from an oceanfront condo (we ask for and receive before arriving) right down to kitchenware. And the bellboys will bring you anything you ask for. It doesn't stop there, house cleaning is done dailey with perfection. We did change our time there, 2-3 weeks, from March to Feb, less crazy "spring breakers" and much more layed back. We are returning, and yes it's safe there Mr Bill O'Reilly, this Feb. There is NO friendlier city in the world, from the hotel to those friends we now have there, and they welcome us every year with open arms....to include going to their houses. NOTE: we only eat where THEY do, no tourist resteraunts for us! Enjoy and tell ALBA Dean says "HOLA"

Room Tip: Contact ALBA before arriving and ask for an oceanfront condo, she will take care of you.

The people of Acapulco welcome you with open arms, no pressure street sales! I've been offered so much help with anything I need. I will return but next time for much longer!

We booked this trip as a last minute deal and it was well worth the money spent. Our room was very basic but it was clean and bright. We had a seperate bedroom with a living room out front the balcony with a magnificent view of the beach and the mountains. The decor is older all in baby blues and pastels but really who cares you are going there to enjoy the beach! Our check in process was pretty quick and they were very accomidating when we asked to be on the same floor as the couple we were travelling with the actually moved us up so we could have the room next to them. The food wasn't gormet by all means but it was plentiful and available until late at night. I found by the end of the week that i was craving some food from home. The buffets were basically the same thing every day. I enjoyed the freshly made omlettes every morning. The pool and deck area was clean. Drinks were plentiful. The staff was amazing. Tipping is a must. The beach area was beautiful and you could rent a cabana for the day for 150 pesos but you will be bombarded with vendors on the beach. I didn't mind that so much as i found it entertaining and loved that the shopping came to me! Just a simple no thank you or no gracias would make them move on in most cases. Shopping and downtown area is right outside your hotel and is fairly safe as long as you stay within the tourist areas. I wouldn't walk around alone in the evening. The streets are heavily guarded by police. There is also good security in the resort. I am not sure this is somewhere i would bring the children unless you were willing to stay on the resort for the most part. There is alot of nightlife and the streets are very busy at night. Be careful of the water in the ocean as the tide is extremely strong and pulled me under at one point which was quite scary. We travelled with Nolitours and they offered quite a few tours/day trips. We did the city tour and it was inexpensive and well worth the money. Do not get sucked into the guy at Walmart offering you free day at Grand Mayan Resort. It is a scam to get you to purchase timeshares. Although they treat you very well and pay for your taxi there and back you have to spend at least 2 hours listening to their high pressure sales tactics and by the time you are done you just want to leave the resort and not enjoy your free day pass.

Overall my experience was great. If you are looking for something basic at a low cost this is the place to stay. There is lots of people from Canada that spend weeks at this resort and just love it.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are nicer for a good view of the ocean and mountains.

We traded a timeshare week to stay here, the good just barely out weighed the bad. Good 1st -excellent value, excellent weather 80's day, 72 night, great location for shopping and food, lots of English speaking vendors, excessive security patrolling, big sandy beach, nice shady palms, I slept good in the bed. The Bad - almost no North Americans, the hotel is packed on the weekends with tour buses that come from Mexico city, the rooms are run down, mold on the shower curtain, tiles coming loose, floors need to be mopped and the pool needs a couple of days after the weekend to clear up. pull out couch was wore out. In summary - We went for the weather and it was great, disappointed with the rooms but if you don't spend much time in them... also felt a little out numbered at times especially the weekend, during the week the hotel was almost vacant. We don't go all inclusive and there were many places to eat close cheap. That being said I want to go back and I would go to the same place the Playa Suite.

Room Tip: lower floors can pick up free wifi, we got it on the balcony on the 8th.

This is a low-medium cost hotel that does everything pretty well. Rooms are not new, but clean. Excellent central location.
There is a sort of lounge bar entertainment lobby, but don't expect much entertainment. You have to walk out front to Costera to find entertainment.
Seems to be an all inclusive place, but as everyone says, don't come to Acapulco for all inclusive.
