Dreams Huatulco is a beautiful resort. We brought 50 plus guests with us to this resort to celebrate our wedding. Every guest enjoyed themselves and said the venue was perfect. We enjoyed the resort as well however were not at all happy with the wedding amenities provided.

Here is a quick list of problems we had....

- upon check in the front desk refused us a wedding upgrade. We were told these would be available free of charge with the wedding package we bought as long as there was availability.....concierge said we would have to pay for the upgrade
- we received the wrong flowers the day of the wedding.....couldn't do anything about it because the wedding was at 5pm and I only saw my bouquet at 3pm. We even gave a picture of the flowers we wanted and they still were wrong
- the cocktail hour did not have enough seats for all of our guests....the hotel knew how many people were coming....why wouldn't there be enough seats? I even mentioned to the wedding coordinator about 3 hours before the wedding that I noticed there were not enough chairs and she assured me that they just were not done setting up yet.......they never added more chairs.
- during the ceremony there were random people walking down the aisle as the bride was also walking down the aisle. We had been assured that the area would be private for us and that nobody else would have access.
- wedding decorations were not right. We ordered 7 Japanese Tripods and only received 3....among other problems with decorations
- We received the wrong cake. We had 3 cakes to chose from with the ultimate wedding package and we advised which one we wanted. We ended up getting a completely different cake that was not pretty at all.....it looked very cheap! When I discussed this with the wedding coordinator she said the staff at the bakery was new and made a mistake....this is unacceptable. This is a wedding....I was paying a lot of money for accuracy! We also received a lot of complaints for our guests that they never received wedding cake at their tables when it was being served.
- the sound system was not very good. We paid money to rent the sound system for our dance and you could hear crackling of the speakers....
- we also had a problem getting our photos and wedding video. We had to get our travel agent involved from Canada in order to get the video. We probably would have never received the video had it not been for our travel agent. The wedding coordinator ignored our emails once we were back in Canada enquiring about the wedding video as did the photographer.

Anyways getting married at Dreams was a rip off. The costs were very high and the quality of the wedding that we received was definitely sub par. The other thing that amazed me was that were the only wedding at the resort for the 2 weeks that we were there. How on earth could there be so many problems when the wedding staff only had our wedding to plan and implement?

I would recommend going here for a vacation with your spouse or your family as the resort is beautiful and amenities are nice but............DO NOT GET MARRIED HERE!

Stayed there nov 11 for 4 nights, then got upgraded? to Secrets, another review. Second time at that resort, first time as Dreams, last time it was Gala Club. Location and beach are pretty unbeatable, and deffinate improvement on quality of food, drinks, and service. The people are always friendly, the food is probably the best or close to it, that I have had in a all-inclusive. Some big bonuse's are no wrist bands, no towel card, grab all the towels you want when you want them, and no reserving for any of the resteraunts, any one at anytime! Good quality drinks, tips help get Don Julio in your marg, free wine with a bit of selection, mini bar could have beed stocked a bit better, but not a big thing. Swimming was great, no rocks or coral, and not bad snorkeling at the point and around the little island if it was calm, good sailing if it wasn't.The rooms were decent, very clean as was the whole place, the staff were good at their jobs and even though it's not the fanciest resort, it had a good atmosphere, mainly thanks to the people running it. After 4 nights we got a free "upgrade" to Secrets, which is a few miles down the beach, there were 3 couples, so we thought we would try it.

Room Tip: we had 1407 on the south side, paid for garden view, but could see the ocean, wouldn't want groun...

Stayed sadly for only one night in November. Hotel only 60% full so not an issue at pools or restaurant. The hotel has many restaurants, none requiring reservations. I was able to walk into Porotfino, the Italian restaurant, and be served immediately. The restaurant has a large antipasti bar full of Italian treats, and the menu has many items. I chose the spaghetti a la vongole (clams) and was not disappointed. Service was great. The main buffet restaurant for breakfast was huge and made a great omellette.

I used one bar and Johhny Walker Red was available, so I was a happy camper!

The resort is well laid out and impeccably clean. Workers are very friendly. WiFi is free and works throughout the the hotel and pool area.

My complaints...the AC in my room did not keep up with the heat and if I was staying longer I would hope it to be corrrected. Also, the lack of english TV channels is a pet peeve. Considering most of the guests are Canadian or American, they could have some US or Canadian content. Resorts in the Caribbean have realized that this is an idea worth exploring.

I have a feeling this resort is hopping in winter, so for a quiet visit, come off season!

Room Tip: Rooms on 4th floor in building 4 may be quieter

Stayed at Dreams Nov 12-19, 2013...they do things here the right way !! From our arrival, we were made to feel at home...great premium drinks at bars, great food at the restaurants just made for a marvelous time....went fishing twice with 'Coco' who anchors his boat right off the beach of the hotel...he's a super honest family guy that works hard and is a great guide out on the ocean...did the 9 bay tour and stopped at Playa st. Augustin for lunch to have lobster on the beach there....also had fresh cerviche made by Coco on a secluded bay of Chechewa..its the extras that Dreams Resort does so well, and have not found anywhere else, which includes awesome room service for free (which we ordered outside of their normal time 'schedule' 3 times and they brought great food up to the room everytime.....another bonus here is that you can actually get a really decent bottle of chilean white or red wine (Vistana by Santa Carolina) ANYTIME anywhere with a meal (no extra charge) or just sent to your room..wine in Mexican all-inclusives always suck, but NOT HERE !! ....another thing is turn down service at night and they also reclean/restock your bathroom too (TWICE)....Employees that rocked with their great customer service were Daniel, Illich and Mario (lobby guys) and Saul in the World Cafe.....one other thing is free sailing with a 2 person catamaran !! And the drink waiters that brought us drinks to both beach palapas and poolside were both fast and courteous.....tried all restaurants and the Portofina and Oceana were the best....for lunch, do the Seaside Grill and sit over looking the ocean=magical....H...will be going back in April 2014 for 2 weeks this time, as 1 week goes by too fast.....Having been to the Mayan Riviera and PV many times, and Dreams Hualtulco is our best Mexican trip holiday out of anywhere.. you won't be disappointed at Dreams Resort !!!

We traveled as a large group which the hotel accommodated well.
The wedding arrangements were beautiful :)

We upgraded to the "preferred" package but was disappointed with the "upgraded" mini bar in our room, only beer and soft drinks. We also were not given any information as to the extras involved (ie location of the preferred lounge, the extra entitlements etc and as such did not explore this fully).

The food was nice in most restaurants, the buffet was ok but not brilliant.

The inclusion of an adults only pool was great :)

Pool side bar service was excellent (thankyou Christopher), but an option for snack food to be delivered with the drinks would have made the experience complete.

All in all, a fun time was had.

Room Tip: if you are spending time in your room apart from sleeping (and other bed type activity ;) ) then you...

Just got back from a wonderful time in Dreams Hualtuco. We went there with Sunwing tours. Right from the welcome cold towels and drinks to the great beach drink service we found Dreams to meet and exceed expectations for this level of resort. The bay location is great for swimming and comfortably walking on the bay area. The resort size is very nice...large enough to have all ammenities yet not so large that getting to facilities is an issue. Our room which was a king tropical court room was well appointed and nice and comfortable. Service and food in the restaurants was very good. The food quality at both the buffet and specialty outlets was high.Obviously management has found a winning formula to acheive these great results, Keep up the good work!

We went to the dreams from nov 5-19'for our wedding. We were a small group of 14 who had never been to Huatulco, and we all fell in love with not on,y the resort but the area as well. I loved that you did not need reservations for the a la cartes, that there was no towel cards or ugly wrist bands that would not look nice in my wedding photos!
The service we received, even when on one of the weekends it was at 100% capacity! was amazing. The food selection was good most nights.
It was an unforgettable two weeks. We will be returning to the Huatulco area, and if we choose to stay at the AI scene it will definitely be dreams. The only reason we would stay elsewhere would be to rent a condo for a couple of weeks!
