“Fun at the Beach”
Reviewed 21 December 2011

Beautiful hotel with tropical ambience, fine dining and attentive dining room staff. Room (29) had very good view of the sea but '2 small double beds'; we asked to change to a King Bed but told it was not possible. 'Happy Hour' served drinks in half size glasses and tried to charge us full price. Sadly there was no tea or coffee in our room. All that said, life by the pool/beach was excellent and breakfasts, if a little crowded were scrumptious. Dinner on the decking by the sea was out of this world. Highly recommended. Of all the hotels on Tangalounda this one has got the best bit of beach by far.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front look right onto the sea not over any roof tops. Of course if you can afford i...

We started our week at Dreams Huatulco but after three nights, we decide to switch. Dreams was too crowded. We checked in at the Camino Real Zaashila, and we could finally relax.

Our children (10 and 8) loved the place as well. Pool is big so it does not feel crowded at all. Beach is nice, although it seems that there are not many days where you can actually swim. Waves are strong and definitely not for children, even if good swimmers.

The rooms are nice and comfortable, but do not expect them to look new. They could definitely improve the bathroom amenities.

The staff is extremely nice and they do go the extra step to help.

We will definitely come back some day.

My husband and I go for a quick travel on a long weekend. We were recommended for a friend to go here. Staying was amazing. We really enjoy our trip. View from our room was beautiful; beaches were very nice, hotel staff quite kind. Massages are regular... separating experience of having it in front of beach; there is nothing special on staff techniques.

A wonderful place to spend a week relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of urban Mexico or anywhere else for that matter. A beautiful beach complemented by a delicious pool with nearby bar made the Camino Real all that much better. We spent every happy hour at the bar meeting and making new friends daily. The accommodations were stupendous with private plunge pool that made evening dips private and VERY relaxing under the stars. Breakfasts were extravagant with bountiful assortments from the routine and "continental/American" style to Asian and Mexican breakfasts complete with grasshoppers. Ms Kraak, the General Manager, was always available with a smile, a hello and ready to help in any way if any problem arose--which never happened- but her company was all the more outgoing and congenial. In all--A WONDERFUL PLACE TO RELAX AND HIDE FROM THE WORLD. Go and enjoy!!!

Room Tip: Try for a room on the beach level with plunge pool==WOW!!

We traveled during easter and reserved a room with two bedrooms and private pool. Rooms are really big and the three bathrooms as well. Great, compared to most of the hotels which offer small spaces. The room also have a small dining room, leaving room and kitchen, so you can get your own drinks but no kitchen appliances are available, so no cooking is feasible, not even glasses or ice so you alwals have to ask them to room service. Fridge was not dirty, but it was not really clean. A lot of ice in the freezer and some cereal empty boxes in the drawers. Rooms need some small manteinance as hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom, etc.... Pool in the room was also clean and they clean it as well as the main one. Kids club looked fine although kids were obligated to wear a shirt and a cap even if they do not want (!!!!), so my kids spend only a couple of hour with them. AC fine although a little bit noisy. Food quality was fine.

What the hotel can improve to have a better service is answering the phone. It takes several minutes to get an answer from anyone, room service, reception, concierge or cleaning, no one (really no one) picked up the phone. Room was not ready upon my arrival, but until 1.5 hrs after check in hour. Also, no children menu is availabe or small portion for them. New TV´s (specially for this superior suites) and internet in the rooms would be fine. None are available and if you want to connect a portable dvd or a laptop to the tv´s that would not be possible.

A must is new matresses. The ones in the bedrooms are terrible. Ensure to ask the quality of them upon your reservation and the easiness to get to them as many of them do not have direct access. You have to walk a lot, use a lot of stairs (no elevator) and a some slopes. If you are traveling with small kids or a stroller, that can be challenging and we did not receive any information upfront, either when we resereved or during the check in.

Rooms and suites located in the east side (next to he hill) have a partial view to the ocean, to the back of the other rooms and some old, incomplete buildings, dry area, dump place. View is really not he best so for sure the other side must be better (we could not move since there was not other room available).

I recommend it for couples without kids.

Room Tip: Ask your room in the west side

Generally speaking, my wife and myself had a tremendously pleasant experience while staying at this hotel... So pleasant that we almost missed the plane. That is how relaxed you will end up your stay. Even though prices are a little bit high for locals (Mexicans) in general there is good attention and service. This last item, service, lacks 2 stars/5, since sometimes people coming from other countries are "prioritized" (in concierge, restaurants, etc.) and areas far from the other (i.e., pool, beach, etc.) lack attention (we had to wait about an hour to get someone's attention). Besides from that, I am still thinking about my next trip to Huatulco.
