My wife and I stopped here for a beer and snack while on a long beach walk. The waitress told me they had great coconut shrimp so we went back the next night to give it a try. My wife is vegan and the waitress told her she would fix a special meal for her. We were both so impressed. My shrimp were huge, absolutely fantastic and the mango salsa it came with was a great combo. Definitely having this again on our next visit. The service was great, chips and salsa right away, and when I ordered a rum and coke, they had no coke so sent someone to get it. This was an easy walk from Club Santiago and was nice watching the waves while eating

I have traveled to Manzanillo multiple times. Each time, El Indio was on our agenda. Each time we had optimal service, great prices and amazing food. Felipe the owner was quite the host and his staff never failed us. One of our trips, we had some stuff stolen from our house. Felipe told us to come by after hours. We strolled down the beach and he opened up his bar to us for the night. Making us a special meal, and special drinks all on the house. He felt so bad that someone had stollen from us.. he wanted to show us that Manzanillo was full of wonderful people too!
We have visited in 2005, 2007, and 2009.

Worst Restaurant experience of my life. My wife and I went there for a quiet lunch, there were only two tables with people, we figured it would be great to get fast service. BUt we waited, and waited, until I had to go and call one of the waiters for service, I could not believe the 2 waiters just stood there doing nothing and we had to ask them for menus and service. So finally the waiter came, long face, rude, arrogant and had a very bad attitude, he looked like he hated to work there, he was very rude, never looked at us and well I just wanted to leave, but my wife told me to be patient and to enjoy the view. The red eye beers we had were 6 dlls each!!! SO EXPENSIVE!!! and the food was very very disspointing and expensive. Once we ordered and got the food, the waiter never cameback to the table and we figured out the total with the menu to pay the check, as waiter went to hide who knows where. So we left the money on the table, and as soon as we were walking out waiter appeared and rushed to the table to pick up the money. WEIRD!!! THE WORST WAS THAT WE GOT VERY SICK AND ENDED IN THE LOCAL HOSPITAL THAT NIGHT. The food we ate there had SALMONELLA. It's all we ate that day, so we know it was there and we still very sorry we ever stopped at that terrible place.

Cruise stop (Carnival Spirit Feb 09). Forgot the name of the beach we wanted to go to so the cab took us to the only one I could remember - La Boquita. Soon realized we had made a mistake - very dirty beach, tables, nervous about ordering food and felt somewhat unwelcome. My husband and I walked along the beach back in the direction of the cruise ship dock feeling very downhearted and still somewhat queasy from the ship (sticking to Carib cruises after this). Finally came to El Indio; This little restaurant felt like an oasis in the desert! We were treated like royalty and made very comfortable in the upstairs open air diningroom. Shamefully, I can't remember the name of the owner who chatted with us at length and even drove us, gratis, to a nearby taxi area when we were ready to go. The waves were a little higher than suited us but we had fun being tossed about a bit in them. Had a meal and several Dos xxx beer - lovely stuff - all for under $30. A lovely afternoon and the highlight of the trip. Our host admired my husband's snorkelling mask and asked if he would sell it - we were glad to leave it for him as a tip. Would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone and look forward to going back when we stay in Manzanillo (would not recommend cruising there unless you like a bumpy ride).

The food here is the freshest. in town. The place is really clean and the service is super friendly! The view is to AMAZING! Thier are umbrellas to sit in the sand right by the water. The huachinango is my favorite plate in the house. The ceviche is also amazing. It's something to look forward to every visit. Just get on a cab and mention this restaurant, you'll kove it!
