There were 9 girls celebrating a birthday in Manzanillo and booked a snorkeling adventure with Scuba Shack and Susan! We had a GREAT time! Susan was so accommodating, she answered all of our questions, she made suggestions and she insured that we all had a wonderful time. There were several people who had never snorkeled and she was extremely patient with them. We saw lots of fish, saw the Saint of the Fisherman, the Elevator, and one of the most unique experiences was snorkeling over the sunken ship! We brought lots of snacks, we're girls of course! After the adventure we spent the day on the beach (it was a Saturday). Lunch was at a spot right on the beach complete with drinks. The beach is where the locals come and it was very authentic and safe. There was actually a little market on the beach that you could shop at and of course we did! Everyone was so friendly, kind, and catered to our needs. The sand and the water safe for swimming. The Scuba Shack picked us up at Las Hadas and returned us there around 5pm. The experience is authentic! We all loved it!

Our guide Johnathan was great. The boat left about 30-40 minutes late due to launching difficulties, but this kind of delay seems pretty typical of Island or Mexico Time. The snorkeling itself is fair because there is only so much to see, but I think was a fair value. It's really nice that there is almost no boat ride time - the attractions are right off shore.

Thank you Scuba Shack (specifically Susan, Fernando, Jonathan, and Enrique) for making our Thanksgiving Day 2011 a memorable one! We came into port on the Carnival Spirit and had pre-booked a snorkel/scuba excursion with Susan. When we arrived at the shop, Carlos helped us all get fitted with gear (which was great to go out with gear that fits instead of trying to make do with something that doesn't). Once we had our gear, Susan drove us to the beach where the boat was. We booked directly with Scuba Shack (instead of purchasing an excursion on ship) so that I could scuba dive while the other 6 members of my family snorkeled. Our group included an 8 yr old, 16 yr old, 3 40-something's and 2 60-something's. We ALL had a great time and know we made the right decision in booking with Scuba Shack. We saw things that we know we would not have seen had we booked with the "booze cruise" or another company. Along with our snorkel/scuba, we were taken to see some amazing sights, including Elephant Rock, a shipwreck, the Devil's Blow Hole, the Fisherman's Memorial, and the amazing "Aquarium" with the awesome King Angelfish! Our guides were wonderful and we had an incredible time! My cousin was especially pleased with the attention his 8 year old daughter (who had NEVER snorkeled before) received from Jonathan. I know we were the envy of the other passengers of our ship, because several approached us when we pulled up on the shore asking how we found an excursion and what we did. I HIGHLY recommend booking tours through the Scuba Shack!!! Scuba Shack, thank you so much for an incredible and memorable Thanksgiving!

We rented 9 sets of snorkeling gear and four were damaged. The owner did not seem to care when we returned the gear and he did not offer to compensate us in any way. We were disappointed...bring your own gear.

The scuba shack is Manzanillos only PADI dive center. According to their website. We chose this dive operation because the dive instructor at our hotel the karmina palace had been overly generous with his "hands-on" approach to my 16 year old.

We should just have not gone diving. First of all all of the other negative reports are minimal to the reality. That is to say this dive center if it were a bowl of fruit would be rancid. Old equipment, old books, old building, old everything including the owners.

Who I believe are in their mid or late 60s and act their age. Cranky, rude and obnoxious. Fortunately they do not go diving but their employees are not much better.

Diving is off the beach and no boat is available unless you have at least 4 or 6 other divers. "Otherwise your S.O.L " the owners words not mine.

Its hard to believe a certifying agency like PADI would allow this dive center to use their logo. Message to PADI image is everything and this center is tarnishing yours.
