Every time we return to Manzanillo to stay in the tourist areas of Las Hadas or Bahia Santiago we make a pilgrimage to downtown Manzanillo and the Club Social. The centre of the city is more blue-collar than old Puerto Vallarta, but is very interesting. To the east of the malecon and plaza with the huge swordfish sculpture is the Club Social. Sit down and order drinks, all priced the same, and the waiter brings tapas - delicious guacamole, ceviche, potato salad and frijoles which one enjoys on tostadas. Often there are musicians inside the club or groups just outside the doors. This place feels like Earnest Hemmingway would have been a regular!
