Dolphin Cove Inn
Ranked #10 of 51 Hotels in Manzanillo
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

We spent seven nights here and we would definitely return to Dolphin Cove.
Nice, clean and operated under good management.
It is centrally located in an upscale community right next to Las Hadas and Karmina Barcelo. Short distance to playa la Audiencia (we walked) which is one of the points of interest in Manzanillo and a convenient store "Kiosco" well stocked just like a 7 eleven in case you are running out of beer.
Las Hadas golf course is also adjacent.
I basically chose this hotel based on all the good reviews on trip advisor. I can see why most people agree that this is the way to go if you are looking for a home like setting v.s a conventional hotel room for a reasonable fee.
We stayed at unit 804 and it was perfect for a family of 6.
Full kitchen, living room, dining room, balcony, two full baths a King bed in the master bedroom and two alcoves with full beds. The A/C was ice cold but only in the bedrooms. Every where else they have ceiling fans.
Our stay included breakfast and they scored 5 stars there as well.
Everything on the menu was delicious.
The staff is very much oriented to good service.
High five to Cynthia and Lorena for a job well done.

San Diego, California.

We are never disappointed when we visit Dolphin Cove Inn! Great food and service with a smile. There are many things to do in the area, and we also enjoy doing nothing at all by the pool or on the beach! Bougainvillea covered terraces offer lovely views of the sunset. Can't wait to go back!

I had one of the most restful, stress free and fantastic vacations that I have ever had. My sister and I stayed for 16 idyllic days at the beautiful Dolphin Cove. Our room had such an amazing view of flowers (bougainvillea's in the richest of red colors), sailboats, the bay and of course the sparkling ocean beyond. Quite a romantic location if you aren't there with your sister, lol. The staff was top notch: Raul, Frieda, Gabby and Hugo from the restaurant were really friendly and so very accommodating, it was a pleasure talking and laughing with them daily. The cleaning staff kept the rooms impeccable and the office staff (Lorenna) were so helpful. If you required anything, all you needed was to ask and it was immediately looked after. The WiFi connection was super, from our terrace, beside the pool or in the restaurant, we had WiFi, kudo's for that. The owners of Dolphin Cove, Dr. Bill & Clare Brown are the sweetest and most considerate hosts ever. They are genuinely interested in all the guests and if you were keen to, they would even take you sailing. You don't get that at just any hotel but you sure do at the Cove. I could go on and on about this fantastic place and the terrific people who work there and the wonderful owners, but I won't, I will let you go there and be the judge yourself. I can assure you that you will fall in love with the Dolphin Cove as I have and you will want to return over and over. Thanks to Dr. Bill and his gracious wife Clare for the hospitality and for how they operate the Dolphin Cove, not as a business but as a home away from home. Actually I am thinking it is even better than home.

Room Tip: Our room 801 offered such tremendous views, but I think any room would offer a view, maybe some migh...

Wow! What a wonderful review! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely things about our hotel. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope you will come back and stay with us again soon. We will share your nice words with our staff. We all try out best to treat our guests like family and do what we can to make sure they have the best vacation possible. Dr. Brown and Clare love to meet all the guests and take them sailing whenever they can. We love to go out on the bay and see the area from the water -- and of course look for dolphins! Please come back again soon! Your room will be waiting!

This is our 8th time to Dolphin Cove Inn and it wont be our last. We just keep going back time and time again. I guess what we like about this hotel is that we land and just start "living our life" and the bonus is the weather is always great - WARM WARM WARM.

This is a Mexican boutique hotel so if you are wanting a 5 star all inclusive stay away. By Canadian standards, it would be rated probably at a 2.5 or 3 star hotel. While the hotel rooms are somewhat dated, the rooms are comfortable, clean and you have everything you need to make your stay pleasant - fridge, stove top, microwave, toaster, blender, etc. AND the views looking into the bay are spectacular as is the landscaping. If you have any problems with your room or need service, the General Manager, Cynthia, as well as Lorenne, hotel concierge, will have your problem solved within a matter of hours. They are outstanding ambassadors for this hotel.

I think what this hotel has is low turn-over of staff who are dedicated and conscientious. They are pleasant and just really fine people, always striving for good customer service. Two servers in the restaurant, Hugo & Frida, are an example of staff who provide good customer service as is the fellow who delivers the water and the cleaning ladies who drive on the golf carts, dropping off linens. They smiles and laughs are infectious.

During the week - Monday to Friday afternoon, it is for the most part peaceful and quiet around the hotel but the weekends, are really busy and sometimes chaotic as the Mexican people come and settle in for some good fun. It seems that while rules are put in place (given to all guests) for things such as the Pool there is lack of enforcement of the rules. Most of us Canadians/Americans "find some place to go" or do in order to avoid the chasos. Also, the restaurant on weekends can also be quite noisey and busy --- have children screaming and running through it, riding on riding toys, and this year there was even a dog and his owner who came in for breakfast !!!!

All in all, we do really like this place. We feel safe, secure and do enjoy our vacation each year. Considerable improvements have been made to the WIFI and it worked WONDERFULLY this year. Both my partner and I are "wired" and want/need WIFI and we were so pleased with the improvements made. Thank you for making this improvement!

I commend the Dolphin Cove staff for a job well done.

P.S. -- The owner, Dr. Bill Brown, and his wife, Clare, were on-site during most of our stay. They hosted a margarita party which was so nice and so unexpected. They are a delightful, gracious couple to be around. They also stopped at tables nightly if they were in the Restaurant to meet/greet people AND took guests sailing in his sailboat. Now how lucky were we? We say REALLY LUCKY!! Thank Dr. Bill and Clare.. your hospitality.. went above and beyond!

Thank you for taking the time to write all those wonderful comments about Dolphin Cove! We are thrilled you keep coming back and we want to do whatever we can to keep you returning! We want our guests to feel like family and that this is their second home. We really appreciate the great feedback too.

I was horrified to read your comment about the dog in the restaurant. We have a very strict no dog policy on the property. I immediately checked with Cynthia and was informed that the dog was a seeing-eye dog that was with its owner. I apologize about that.

We are glad you found an improvement with the WIFI. With our thick walls it has been a challenge to get good signals in all the rooms but we keep modifying and adding more signal strength to get good WIFI for everyone.

Our staff was very happy to read all your comments about them. They work hard and really appreciate your nice feedback! Thank you!

We hope to see you back at Dolphin Cove soon!

We stayed at the Dolphin Cove Inn twice and both times we had a cozy and fabulous visit. The views are breathtaking and the staff is so friendly! They even put flowers in a shape of heart on our bed for our anniversary!

I'm not sure what secret ingredient they put in their guacamole...bit it's by far the best guacamole I've ever had in Mexico.

This is our fourth visit to the Dolphin Cove Inn and we plan on coming back as often as possible in the future. The rooms are spacious, with colorful wall hangings and furniture. The kitchen is well stocked with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. You will spend many hours sitting on your deck, looking over the bay through the palm trees and amazing buganvilias that cover the property. After a delicious breakfast that is included, sit under a palapa, read and nap with a smile on your face. The staff are wonderful and the rooms are spotless. Be sure and have two blackberry margaritas during happy hour - they are the best! This place is not for you if you cannot climb stairs, though, because it is built on the hillside and you have to be able to climb up and down to get to the pool or beach. We enjoy walking down to the main street to the taco stands and terrific shrimp restaurants, but you can also take the number 8 bus if you don't want to walk. Work with Lorena to get the perfect room and she will also arrange transport to and from the airport in air-conditioned comfort that is much better than taking a taxi. This is the perfect place to get away from stress in great comfort and is very affordable.

Room Tip: Room 206 is amazing, with a very large balcony, two bedrooms and baths, large kitchen and living spa...

Wow! What a wonderful review and for coming back to visit us! Thank you! We are thrilled you had a great trip and seem to love Dolphin Cove as much as we do! We are so glad you chose to spend your vacation with us and we can't wait to have you back. We appreciate the comments about the stairs and understand the stairs can be challenging. To help alleviate this issue we are currently buying a few golf carts to help transport guests to and from the pool, beach and restaurant. Thanks again!

We fully enjoyed our four week stay at the Dolphin Cove Inn. The weather was fabulous, the apartment spacious and impeccably clean, the grounds were very well taken care of and the view from the balcony was spectacular. The staff was pleasant and helpful when needed. On the whole it was a good value vacation. There were two minor negatives, first the apartment was a little worn and in need of updating and, secondly, the kitchen only had a two burner electric stove (no oven), which made cooking a little challenging. Thus we would suggest that you take advantage of the breakfast plan which is offered at a very reasonable rate.
