“A good hike and a great view!”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

This is a must-do activity if you are more adventurous or wanting to see some different scenery and get some exercise at the same time. And it's totally free. You can take a pulmonia from the golden zone for 120-200 pesos, or the Toreo bus goes from the Malacon right to the gate for less than 10 pesos per person. It's a rough switchback path to a series of stairs until you reach the top, around 25 - 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. Not stroller friendly, but great for older children, there are lots of birds, butterflies and iguanas to keep things interesting on the way up and down. Wear sturdy footwear and bring sunscreen, water, a camera and a snack. There is someone at the top selling water and Gatorade, if you need it. Awesome spot for a little picnic and by far the best view of the city. When you hike back down, take the Toreo bus back to the Malacon or it's a 25 min walk (1/2 mile appx.) into the historical district. Walk towards the ferry from the lighthouse gate, turn left at Av. Miguel Aleman, and turn right on Benito Juarez to go to the cathedral and El Mercado, or keep going a little ways then turn right on Prol. Carnaval for the square and theatre district

“Amazing view, must see!”
Reviewed 9 November 2013 via mobile

After being hounded in the hotel districts to go on tours and visit tourist traps, we decided to walk down to the lighthouse that graced the city's coast line. There were not many tourists in this part of the city when we were there. That made everything a little more authentic for me. We encountered many people on the trail to the lighthouse and they were all very friendly and would say hello. At the top the view of the city is amazing. You can see up and down the coast and really take in the unique landscape if the city. The area surrounding the lighthouse beyond the pier is also very interesting, a lot of beautiful cliffs and ocean views. This was by far one of the highlights of my visit.

“Amazing View!”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

The view from the lighthouse is amazing. Highly recommend going early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and smell. It is quite a clime to the top. Great way to burn extra vacation calories! There is water for sale when you get to the top.

The view from this lighthouse is amazing. The walk up there can take your breath away, but then again the views do even a better job of that. I would seriously recommend it.

“great views, bad stench”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

We ran the Malecon up to the lighthouse. The views are great but there is a sewage treatment facility nearby so the odor is horrible.
