“A bit of old Mexico”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

This is a well run hotel with good views from all rooms. Our room had 2 double beds, a small galley kitchen with blender, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pots, cooktop, everything you need to make a light meal. The water is purified, so there is no tooth brushing with bottled water necessary. The beach is great. People were boogie boarding, swimming, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, building sand castles. The clientele are a nice mix of families, couples, young and old, Canadian, American and Mexican. Nearby are many good restaurants if you don't do the all inclusive option. Also there is a small super market across the street, a fruiteria a couple of blocks south for fruit and vegetables, more groceries available from the Guadalajara farmacia a couple of blocks south, plus you can buy groceries in the hotel's super deli. Our only complaint is the beds could use some up dating. Our pillows were lumpy and the mattresses as well.

Room Tip: There are central elevators but nothing in the wings of the hotel, so if you have mobility issues, r...

My husband and I spent two weeks at the Pueblo Bonito and our first visit to Mazatlan. We have vacationed in Mexico every winter for 35 years and this visit was one of the best for sure! The staff is awesome...our room was spotless, breakfast was like having mom greet me every morning, at the pool the people were after 2 days mind readers and the dinners in Cilantros and Angelo's were the best!!!!!!! Breakfasts were so good...what a great beginning to the day and their eggs Benedict are really good . I won't mention names because every staff member is outstanding, but they are etched in my mind. I was known as Clarita or Mary...love you folks and a big thank you!!!!
The beach is wonderful and surprisingly calm for the Pacific and the downtown is a wonderful historic area. We took the hotel tour..very good and informative and went to the Gold Zone and enjoyed it also. Great Tequila place there, bought Agave Atsul at the Onilikan artisan distillery..pretty special stuff.
Thank you Pueblo Bonito for a wonderful break from a cold winter in eastern Canada.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor but all rooms looked good.....we had a fabulous view if the sunset every...

Very nice hotel clean, comfortable and secure great location close to everything, friendly staff Ramon the bartender at the swim up bar was awesome hooked us up even though we never had an all inclusive package. Only thing that sucked was the suite had two double beds and we couldn't upgrade to a king size other than the four stars.

I have been a timeshare owner at PB Mazatlan since 1997. It used to be the most exclusive place in town. It is still beautifully maintained and staffed, but the food has gone waaaaay downhill. They are just pushing the all inclusive, which is nothing but pre-cooked, all you can eat, buffet food for hungry American and Canadian guests

We are big time Pueblo Bonito owners (have a month at the new Grand Pacific Estates in Cabo), and were very saddened to see Mazatlan's old very good restaurants at PB turned into cafeterias. (Angelo's is still quite good though) Despite all, views and beach are still unbeatable . Understand that after 2017 it will no longer be a timeshare. From what we can gather, they are going to redecorate and become a pay up front hotel/resort. Perhaps this kind of change is overdue, as the location cannot be beat. Also stayed a week at Emerald Bay, which I will review separately.

Go there, stay there, and enjoy this excellent facility. It is an older resort but it is immaculate and very clean in every way. The staff is crazy friendly. A shout out to Ramon, Guillermo, and oscar at the pool side bar. Ernesto.& Ivan at cilantros rest. and to the rest of the entire staff. This was our first time to mazatlan and we are already planning a return trip in the next few months. The food was very good the drinks very cold and our overall experience was AMAZING. We visited the sister resort in emerald bay and yes it is great but the staff seemed a little bit cold and the beach is not as nice as P.B.MAZ. we have traveled for over 30 years and we have never been treated so well as we were at this resort.
Thanks PB.B MAZ FOR A GREAT TRIP

We stayed here for a week (August 2013) for our honeymoon. The hotel and grounds are clean, but outdated. I read several reviews about amazing staff..I didn't have a bad experience with any staff, but they also weren't amazing either, just average, not overly friendly, but not rude. Our room was large, but we had reserved a king size bed, and when we arrived, they said they didn't have any rooms with king size beds, so we had two full size beds (not super impressed) The food was mediocre, and there weren't a lot of options. By the end of the trip we ended up going across the street to Pancho's for a little variety. The resort was quiet, and didn't have a lot of activities. Some days there was music playing by the pool, and other days there was not. The beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs. I wish there was better service on the beach though...we had to keep going to the pool area for drinks. The pool closed early. We ended up going to Emerald Bay for a food days to enjoy the adults only pool, they had better drinks there. Overall, you get what you pay for. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great.

Room Tip: Don't expect a king size bed, even if you reserved one.

A wonderful place to be. Everything is well done and the people are fantástico. One problem is that wifi is no longer free it's $14 per day and they try to force you into a tour of Emerald Bay to Get internet for free. BAD POLICY.
