We just spent 10 days at El Cid Marina - our 2nd visit in 3 years, and we cannot say enough good things about this place. From the moment we got off the bus, it felt like home, only in paradise.

We had requested and received a room by the heated pool because we know we like to end our day there. We know timeshare pitches are a concern, but for both visits, we kindly declined when offered and were not bothered again after the initial check in. Eduardo took our bags and showed us to our room and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. He remained a friendly face for the rest of our stay as we went back and forth from the Marina to the other El Cid properties.

We loved our spacious room with its quick access to the pool and found the beds very comfortable. The private beach, just a short water taxi ride across the marina, is wonderfully secluded and peaceful if you want to sit on the beach and read a book. However, for our family, which includes two 11 year old girls, we find the beach at the Castilla and El Moro much better for swimming, boogie boarding and body surfing. The shuttles are always prompt so it's no big deal to go there every day. People talk about all the peddlers on the beach, and while it can be off putting at first, it becomes part of the experience. We came to like a woman named Jessica who made us several bracelets and did some beads for our kids hair. Service at the Castilla is good too, but we missed the beachside restaurant under renovation. The servers on the beach work very hard, and unlike the resort we went to in Cancun last year (not an El Cid) we didn't have to constantly tip just to get noticed (not that we didn't tip at all).

Every afternoon found us back at the Marina Calypso Bar (in and by heated pool) where Rembert and Jose Luis and the others took excellent care of us. They would always greet us with a warm smile and our favorite cold drinks. They really went out of their way to make us feel special.

For dinners we ate at reservation restaurants at the various El Cid properties and were very pleased with the service and food. The breakfast at the Marina is excellent, especially Lupita's omelettes. We wanted to go to Las Labradas petroglyphs and El Cid's tour company, Pronatours, worked with us and we went the day of their annual equinox festival and couldn't have been more pleased with that service either. Victor, our tour guide, was phenomenal, and thanks to Gladys for helping us schedule it.

Everything was perfect, and we appreciate all the attention to detail, including the maid service and constant cleaning everywhere, especially the bathrooms. The grounds are immaculate. The Marina seems to be quieter with a somewhat older crowd than the other El Cid properties, but that fits our family, and we just go to the other properties when we want to. The only real complaint was the quality of the wi-fi (very slow and always disconnecting) but that just encouraged us to forget about life a little more. In a nutshell, we love the El Cid Marina and can't wait until we can come back.

Dear, Purplefan

I am glad to hear you both had a nice visit to Mazatlan and that you enjoyed your stay at El Cid Marina Beach Hotel. We really appreciate your feedback and detailed description of our services, rooms and facilities and are glad that you have spent an enjoyable and relaxing time at our hotel.

The pride of our staff is evident in the cleanliness of our guestrooms and suites, as well as in the smiles on the faces of our associates in the bellman (Eduardo), Front Desk, The Restaurants and Pool Snack Bar in our other resorts. All of them are constantly striving to improve upon how they perform their jobs. I have shared your comments with them and I know they will take them to heart. A caring and well-trained staff truly makes all the difference. El Cid Resort is popular not only for our guests, but is favored by the surrounding community as well.
You left El Cid Marina feeling the way that we want all of our guests to feel. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. We really want people to feel that our hotel is a home away from home for them. So, it does not often feel like work to us.

We hope you will make another trip from Minnesota to Mazatlan so that you can return to the El Cid Marina Beach Hotel.

Best regards,

Isaias Gomez
General Manager.

This was our fifth consecutive year of staying at the Marina El Cid, and like a good bottle of wine you just want to keep coming back for more. Incredible staff throughout the resort, competent, friendly and very anxious to please. First class.

We recently returned from our 3rd stay at El Cid Marina. Not only was the weather perfect but also was our stay. The staff, food and accomodations are second to none. We spent a lot of our time this year at the beach. Just a very short ride on the water taxi, we were always welcomed by Philipe. The beach is a great spot, for long walks, great drinks and lunch was always delicious. Philipe always treated us well as did Alfredo with his infectious laugh and big smile.

The Pool Bar was always active and we made great friends with Miguel, Luis Riel, Abraham and Ramone, who were fun and very attentive.

The Iguana Snack Bar & Pool is a wonderful spot with fantastic music and food. All of this is made possible by the great leadership of Fidel! We also were served very well by Adolfo and Jose' Manuel.

There are a number of Restaurants (Italian, Mexican and Argentinian) that we were able to attend through our stay at the Marina. Our favorite restaurant though, was La Marina Restaurant which is right in the Marina. Breakfast (Victoria) Lunch (Daniel and Caesar) and Dinners (Jose' Luis and Daniel) were all excellent. We really enjoyed the fact that the dinners were buffet (different daily) and if there wasn't anything you didn't want at the buffet- you could order from the menu which was also wonderful. The live music while we ate our dinner was most enjoyable, some of us even chose to dance!

Before dinner each evening we went for a drink at the Marina Lobby Bar where we met Javier, who had our drinks poured before we sat down, and he always asked about our day.

We were very happy this year with the Thursday Kareokee and Friday live performances that were put on.

Unlike other resorts we have stayed at, the Check-In and Check-Out was, and always has been fast and efficient. Great job done by front desk and bell boys!

Our room (426) was wonderful and kept clean and well maintained by Martha, who has such a wonderful smile.

Great job to everyone who makes the stay at El Cid Marina enjoyable.

Note- We were very fortunate to be at El Cid Marina during Carnival, and went to the Tuesday Parade (smaller one) and it was amazing!! We had a wonderful time, Mazatlan is a great City where we have always felt safe.

Dear, Sandy O

First of all, thank you for taking your time and write about our staff and thank you for considering our hotel as a wonderful vacation spot; you must’ve been very fun people because it sounds to us that you were the ones with the contagious laugh and made the day for our staff.

On the other hand, the beach is always a good choice for long walks during the sunset, the beach at El Cid Hotel is perfect for that kind of things. We also take very good care of our guests and the type of food they eat during their stay at our facilities that is why we make sure to have a variety of dishes including Mexican food off course. We love to see our guests enjoy their meals during dinner and we are glad to read that is working out.

Thank you for recognizing our efficiency during check-in and check-out; we make a very big effort for our guests to have a relaxing time during their vacation. It’s good to know that you are happy with the cleaning service; we are definitely keeping up the good work.

Lastly, carnival is very special for the people in Mazatlan because it’s an annual city party that everyone looks after for the whole year. We are glad you had the opportunity of joining us this year. Hope to see you very soon again so you can fill up our staff with your laugh.

Warm Regards,

Great staff nice setting but private beach is quite a distance from the hotel. Fidel the pool bar manager is a gem. Only one main restaurant so after a few weeks this gets boring and other options at the el cids not so hot. Main complaint is that after 12 all inclusives in Mexico this is the first one that does not stock your frig with pop, water or beer. Means u have to beg for water from the bar and restaurant staff. Also u have to constantly sign a bill for every drink and piece of food. The bills say zero but you can t leave the restaurant until this is done and if the waiter is busy you can sit there and extra 10 to 15 minutes as they all mill around the billing machine. This hotel is set up for Time Share and u will be approached as they sit in lobby. If u have kids don t go here but if you want quiet and peace its a great place.. Charlie Calgary

Room Tip: If u can get one on ground level and close to the main entrance go for it. Otherwise u will be doin...

Dear Familynorth22

Thank you for taking the time in writing this review and giving us your honest feedback on our hotel we always welcome constructive feedback as well as positive remarks. I am glad to hear that my staff went above and beyond to insure you had a great stay. I’d like to clarify that yes we only have one restaurant in our resort but we offer 4 more ala cart restaurants witch you have access to and complimentary transportation due to the fact that these restaurants are located in our other resorts. The bills you sign at the end of your dinner are just to keep order of what’s being consumed. If you ever find yourself in Mazatlan again I hope you give us the opportunity to host you again I promise you will not be disappointed!

Kind regards,

I've stayed at resorts all over the globe and have never experienced the service, caring and helpfulness that La Marina gives. This was my first time here alone but,no worries .From the time I checked in to a warm welcome from Jorge, who had given me an ocean view room, and Rigo,my favorite waiter who greeted me by name! When you consider how many people visit here that is amazing.Javier introduced me to other singles, and I made many friends throughout the day.Dinner is the best time especially as Rigo introduces me to dishes I've never tried before, suggests great wine, delicious desserts like chocolate strawberries, makes sure that I'm seated near Martin, the talented musician who knows so many of the guests favorite songs.Dinner is truly an event.
At breakfast I look for Edy.He is friendly, helpful and gets me the best cappuccinos. For lunch I head for the Iguana Bar where the great entertainer,Fidel presides.Ramon is the one who knows just how I like the seafood soup, wish I could take it home.
So,even though I plan to return in October,After such a good time I've added ten days in May.Can't come soon enough!
Thanks everyone,I love you all.

We do a lot of traveling, but when we want to feel at home we schedule a trip to Mazatlan and stay at the El Cid Marina. The bellman are awesome, especially Avi and Pedro. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. Leonardo and Luis have helped us out on many occasions. The management staff are available and willing to help in any way they can. This time we owe a special thanks to Jorge. He is a wonderful representative for the El Cid Marina, Mazatlan and Mexico. We send most of the days hanging out at the pool and Abraham and Miguel are just of few of the waiters that work really hard to please everyone. This year we spent three weeks at the Marina and as usual, we were not ready to go home. Be sure and get out and explore Mazatlan. It is a beautiful city and any employee will be happy to suggestions restaurants and things to do. This year we went to Durango with one of the employees from the hotel. We paid for the rental car and he drove us on the new highway and showed up around. We also went to El Quelite with a Mexican couple that we have come to know over the past ten years. We also went to the Carnival fireworks and Sunday evening parade and had a blast. Have a great time when you stay at the El Cid Marina.

Room Tip: All of the rooms overlook the Marina, so you can't go wrong with any of the rooms.

Thank you for the glowing review! You’re spoiling us with these marvelous comments! We love our staff, they are shiny and bright and fragrant. Without them we would just be like any other hotel. My wife and I traded on our Wyndham points to this property for a week. Its a very pleasant place with nice but not spectacular condos with modest kitchens. I doubt they expect people to do much cooking. The restaurants on the property were OK but again, not spectacular. Breakfast is probably their best effort. The beach is reached via a two minute water taxi ride and then you have to be able bodied enough to walk up a steep ramp. The beach was windy and the water cold but there was enough shade and chairs provided. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed most of them with the exception of their maniacal and deplorable time share salespeople who will boldly lie to your face and use ridiculous scare tactics, such as guaranteeing we are about to receive a letter from Wyndham about a sudden $600 arbitrary fee increase (not at all true). This is documented by others on the various websites, search for salesman Arturo. El Cid should get rid of this guy as he is destroying their reputation but that is their problem, not mine.
We happened to be there during Mardi Gras and attended the parade along the Malecon. It was great. Its very easy to take a city bus from in front of the property. Inexpensive and very efficient way to get down to the old part of Mazetlan which is historical and lovely. Don't be afraid to venture away from the property. It felt quite safe and was great fun.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second and third floors overlooking the marina have lovely views of the boats.

Dear, drpaulDal...

We would like to thank you for choosing El Cid Marina Beach Hotel as a place to stay during their trip to Mazatlan and also for your nice and encouraging comments about us. This is the only effective way to learn, from a guests’ perspective, our strong, but also our weak points and to improve our service.

I´m so happy to read that you are able to enjoy the parade in our great carnival that is held each year, and easy way to go there, and it was safe and easy access for ride around Mazatlan;… it is nice to read you enjoyed them as well.

Please be assured we have addressed your comments with the time share representative, your feedback will help us as we continually strive to provide a most pleasant and comfortable stay for our guests. We can offer no excuses, only our assurance that we will work very diligently to correct any deficiencies. If you want to discus more details about this situation please contact at mamoran@elcid.com.mx

I really appreciate your comments about La Marina Restaurant; we take a note of your comments to improvement, nevertheless, satisfied with the choice of breakfast service there.

Please let us know the next time you’re coming to the sunniest city in Mexico so we can take good care of you at our hotel, hopefully, for a longer stay.

Sincerely,

Isaías Gomez
