Mazatlan is such a great value for your buck! Had fun playing "funny money" Blackjack. Staff was nice. They need an onsite fitness center. Food at the resort is not great but so many restaurants to choose from around town.

Dear Mazatlanribeater

Thank you for taking the time, out of your busy schedule, to write a very nice review of your most recent stay in our hotel. We are so glad that you found Mazatlan to be a great please to spend vacations.

We will also take into advisement your comment of our Fitness Center. However, we encourage everyone thought to venture outside running by the seashore or use the “streets” of Mazatlan as their exercise arena in pursuit of wellness.

Should your future travels include Mazatlan, we would welcome another opportunity to serve you. Until that time we send our warmest.

This resort is bright, spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly especially the maids Olivia is such a sweet lady if you get her for a maid you will have plenty of laughs. This resort is out of the Golden Zone but you can easily catch a cab to anywhere you like, be sure to negotiate a rate. If you have children the pools here are great one is very warm and shallow for toddlers and the other has caves to go through and to jump off for the older kids. The is resort is great for families.

I have to say, that if its beauty and relaxation you want, the Marina is the place to stay. A little far from town for me yet, it is a place that I have spent much time visiting and eating at thru the years that it has been around. One of the newest of the Golden Zone, it is by far the closest to the imagination of what a traveller might think Mexico should be like . The food is wonderful here . The grounds are beautiful , the staff is great and the rooms are fabulous. I would have to say that it does seem to cater to an older generation or to a family oriented traveller . It has great access to fishing and other water sports and a great marina for large and small vessels. The marina also has a shuttle to the other El Cid areas. The El Cids have also added this year, a shuttle service to and from the airport.

The Marina is part of the El Cid resort where I own time share, but about 2 miles north. There is a shuttle back and forth every 15 minutes or so, so you can connect with the Golden Zone more easily, or there is a bus that goes right in front of the resort all the way downtown to the historic area - a very long and scenic ride. It is a great value for 8 pesos (as of now about 56 cents!) The reason I am writing is to compliment the service. I have been going to Mazatlan for some 23 years, but have never stayed or eaten (just visited friends for a day) at the Marina until now. The desk personnel were efficient and very pleasant, as was everyone with whom we came into contact, and the food was very good. I was on the shuttle one day and got tangled up in the seat belt. About 15 minutes after I got out of the vehicle I discovered I had left my purse in it. I called the front desk back at the resort and they located the driver, who brought my purse back to me within 5 minutes, door to door, with nothing disturbed. I am not convinced that this would have happened in many of the other places I have visited. The only "problem" I have ever had with the Marina is that it seemed so far away from the places I was used to going, but now that the northern section of Mazatlan is being built up so much and there is bus service, it doesn't seem to be as much of a detriment. The Marina is especially good for children and adults who have problems walking. There are golf carts to take you to and from your room, one of the pools has a sizeable low depth area, there are ramps for wheel chairs, scooters, and strollers, and the pools are close to the accommodations.

Dear LAS2

Warm greetings from Mazatlan and El Cid Marina! .

I trust by now you have arrived safely in Florida and return to the daily routine of the normal busy life.

Thank you for staying with us recently and spending some of your precious time to post a review of your stay and share your experience on TripAdvisor.
We really appreciate your feedback and detailed description of our services, rooms and facilities and are glad that you have spent an enjoyable and relaxing time. We are very pleased that you were so satisfied with the service provided by our Team, that you even consider it to be very remarkable after 23 years of visiting Mazatlan, which is really the biggest compliment we can get. We are also very pleased that you were, nevertheless, satisfied with the choice of food and service at our restaurant.

El Cid family looks forward to welcoming you again to the warmth and indigenous hospitality of our hotel in the not too distant future.

Kind regards,

We have travelled to beautiful Mexico for many years and this our first time to Mazatlan. The El Cid Marina is one the nicest hotels there and the staff are by far the best we have ever had the priviledge of spending our 2 weeks with. Migel the Restaurant Manager and his staff go well and beyond to be sure you are having a wonderful experience. The food was always fresh and delicious. Buffets at Breakfast and menu at all meals with lots of variety for seafood, meats, fruits, salads and of course excellent Mexican dishes and deserts. Also, the front desk staff speak very good english and always ask how everything is and to be sure and let you know what they can do. They are always smiling and really appreciated that my Husband spoke some spanish to them. The rooms are all bright and spacious with beautiful views of the marina and beach. All have kitchen facilities and even though we enjoyed the all inclusive package the fridge and microwave were handy. The rooms were always very clean and the cheerful hotel workers also did whatever they could to make us comfortable. The water is fine to drink but they also provide bottled water for a dollar and the proceeds from these go to children. The beach area is just a quick little water taxi across which takes only about 2 minutes and runs all day. You'll love the beach which has little or no vendors, privacy and food and beverage service. The city buses run from just out front of the hotel and take you all over mazatlan for very little pesos. The other El Cid Hotel the Castilla offers the shows and a good beach area and the shuttle here runs all day and evening too for free from the Marina. We went to a couple of shows and spent a few days on their beach which does have lots of vendors but they are always polite and not pushey. We also went to Stone Island one day which is reachable by bus then onto a water taxi which is much cheaper than on a tour. This beach is very nice and lots of restuarants. There was always lots to do and by the end of the day coming back to the Marina was so relaxing and quiet. We enjoyed delicious food and watching the sunsets. There is a laundry, internet and Doctors office on the site too.If you want lots of noise and a party atmosphere I wouldn't suggest this hotel. We wanted a couple of quiet relaxing weeks and we got just that and much more. The nightlife and busy city areas are just a short bus ride away for that. We can't thank the staff at the El Cid Marina enough and we will recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had two great weeks at El Cid Marina and it met, or exceeded our expectations in every way. The rooms are well equipped, comfortable beds, etc. Our accommodation with a sun-set view was breath-taking. The housekeeping staff came daily and kept the standards very high. Even the on-site laundray lady was most obliging. Our studio unit during our second week overlooking the swimming pool was rather noisy throughout the day but was nice and quiet after 7 pm. so didn't disturb us too much.
Convenient access to land and waters tours right from the resort. Shuttle vans as needed to other El Cids, tennis and golf, were most convenient.
The staff were most aimiable. assisting us in every way possible. We had especially good service from our favourite bellman, Avisai [Avi] who directed us to eye-glasses repair and other local information which was much appreciated. We will return in the future.

My husband and I stayed at the El Cid Marina from 2/12-2/18 2009. It was our 2nd time there in two years. The first time we were at one end of the resort and loved it. This last time, we were at the other end of the resort and loved it even more. The rooms are modern, spacious and sooooo clean. Every room has a balcony with both an ocean and marina view. Our stay was all-inclusive so all of our meals were eaten on-site and all were excellent. Order "The Mexican Dish," a sample of several things, including a small steak and it was so delicious. The caesar salad is to die for. My husband loved the mahi-mahi...they cook it 3 different ways and he loved them all, but the browned butter version was his favorite. Request the waitor Manuel, he was great. The breakfast buffet was mmm-mmm...great variety with omelets, quesadillas, and fruit smoothies made to order. The water aerobics and stretching classes led by Christian and Jamie were fun and invigorating....and they're both very handsome! We liked both pools. The activities pool was a perfect balance...fun during an activity, but quiet and relaxing in between activities. It has a swim-up bar and snack bar. The other pool has a beach entry and a HUGE hot tub off to the side...the water temp is nice and hot with jets that are good and strong. This 2nd pool also has waterfalls and man-made caves with skylights that you can walk through in pristine waist deep water. Really neat. Both pools have snack bars that serve good food and excellent mango margaritas. Every encounter we had with the hotel staff members was very pleasant; they go out of their way to be accommodating. We also had access to the restaurants, shows, activities, and amenities of the other two El Cid's nearby with free shuttle service. We went for a looky-loo only and they're nice too, but we preferred the atmosphere where we stayed at the El Cid Marina.
