My husband and I ended our stay in Mazatlan at La Siesta. We spent a week at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay which was heavenly. But one of our favorite nights was here at La Siesta. It is very funky...crooked balconys, step up bathrooms, weird short doors. But all this made it fun. The view from our room was INCREDIABLE! lots of interesting places to walk too. The staff was very friendly, the rooms very clean. Of course they are old and worn, but for the price it is well worth it. Experience downtown, enjoy a view of the sunset from the top of the Freemont hotel. Resturants every few blocks and an atmospher of the Real Mazatlan. Oh and we felt very safe....infact safer than citys this size in the states.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor ocean view

Loved the accessibility to the historic center and beaches. The shrimp bucket had good food especially the breakfasts and guacamole. Spring for the ocean view room so worth it.

This was our third stay and we really love it here. The ocean view can't be beat...the shore is just across the street. The view of the people enjoying the Malecon is great too. It can be loud with the ocean roaring and sometimes parties below on the weekends. It still is great. Of course sitting on top of the Shrimp Bucket restaurant is another perk. They have free wifi but we couldn't get on...so what..it was a good break for us. There is a computer in the lobby one can use. They have a small but pretty pool which was great for our 8 year old. Also, La Siesta is just a few blocks from the historic center of Mazatlan which is alive with good food and culture. Can't wait to go back! (Try to get the corner room on the third floor...it's the best!)

We were last here while the renovations were being done, much improvement, the pool(at the side of the courtyard) was really quite nice, we had a large room oceanside corner, this time oceanside in the middle, much preferred the latter more cosy, there is no need for a ugly lounge you dont use. The view lying on the bed was magic, love this place and would definetly stay again

We go to Mazatlan every year and like to have a mix of staying at a resort part of the time and getting a more "Mexican" experience. Hotel La Siesta definitely fit the bill for the latter. It is a wonderful old hotel, right on the Malecon. As others have written, definitely spring for an ocean view room. We had earplugs with us but didn't really need them as the sound of the waves overcame street noise. Of course, if I was there during Carnival, that might be a different story!

The rooms are clean, basic and functional. The beds are the firm type I've found at many Mexican hotels. The front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful and the location is outstanding. In fact, once we checked in, we immediately dropped off our bags and went right back out to Centro Historico to explore. We were within walking distance of the best of the historic district, from Plaza Machado with the Angela Peralta theater to the Mercado Pino Saurez, the famous central market to the cathedral.

Without a doubt, we will be back again next year!

For those that like local flavor, this hotel is the answer! Located right on the water, definitelly get ocean view room for few dollars more and let the waves put you asleep! Historic center few steps away, long malecon (promenade) can take you as far as you can walk, which we did about 10 miles, benches every few steps, you can sit, relax and observe all kinds of things along the way...
Hotel rooms are nice, big enough, good matresses, watch sunsets from the spacious balcony, friendly staff, not a single complaint! What a deal!
