10th vacation in Mazatlan for a family of 5. First time staying at Costa De Oro. This hotel has the best location of any hotel in the Golden Zone, great rooms and a great beach.

The problem is the pool is ICE COLD. It is not heated. The other problem is the hotel management and staff are WEAK and lazy and will not enforce the pool policy. People get up at 6 AM to reserve pool chairs and then come to the pool at 12 PM. One family from Minnesota hoarded 17 pool chairs for 2-4 people. Another family reserved 10 chairs for 5 people.

When we complained to Costa De Oro management and staff...they just shrugged their shoulders. It is the hotel policy to not reserve chairs and the management and staff did nothing.

At El Cid El Moro, they have stopped this kind of bad behavior from guests. I wish Costa De Oro management and staff would too.

If you stay here be aware the pool is so cold, I could not swim in it and that you had better be up by 6 AM to reserve a pool spot.

this resort was berry outdated and the pool was not keep clean and or in good swimming conditions. access to the beach was perfect, and the location was also perfect. But the resort was not, the resort staff was not friendly at all, and some instances wore even rude to other family members not staying at the resort whit me.

Hotel is located on the beach. The building is older, but everything was in good condition. Our room had a balcony with ocean view and a kitchenette. Later in the week we switched to a smaller room that cost less but did not have a balcony or a kitchenette. The hotel restaurant has a great breakfast menu and overlooks the ocean with both indoor and outdoor seating. The pool area has a bar with happy hour pricing and the nicest lady who works there as a waitress. She was there everyday and made us feel very welcome and happy to be there. They have a drink at the pool bar that we liked called a Monkey Brown.... It was really good. Happy hour is 2 for 1 drink price, and happy hour nachos with steak were what we ordered to go with our drinks everyday. The pool was large and looked very nice but we didn't use it so I don't know if it was heated. I can't remember if there was a hot tub. The beach is accessible by walking down a few steps, and there were tourists taking turns parasailing over the water one at a time. We also watched an entire group of tourists on stand up paddle boards swim from the hotel to the small island that sits directly across from the hotel. We liked everything about this hotel and enjoyed the time we spent there.

This Hotel is family owned and has old Mazatlan charm. It is located on the best stretch of beach and is close to many great eating places and stores . You only need to step outside it’s lobby to enjoy the vibe of Mazatlan
