“Always Perfect!”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We spent 9 weeks here this year. One of my favourite resorts, we had stayed two weeks last year.

As long time (1982) Vacation Internationale owners we love all our resorts but this is special.
The grounds are meticulously maintained. They are working hard on getting the lot next door back up to par as it had been stuck in a legal battle for quite a few years.
The units are huge with plenty of room so that even if you are four adults in a one bedroom you do not feel crowded. The furnishings are a little dated, however, as an owner I am mindful of what my maintenance fees are spent on.

We were four adults for the first two weeks in a two bedroom which is gigantic. Every unit faces the pool and ocean. There are the most magnificent sunsets.
There is a restaurant onsite for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Two happy hours from noon until 2 and then 4 to 6.
The staff can’t do enough for you! Even the vendors are family to everyone.

The same, however, cannot be said for the timeshare sales people. But we have already addressed that with VI.

There is a small store where you can find most things that you might need for staples and canned goods, drinks, beer and wine. Prices are reasonable, more expensive than the grocery store but then you need to take a taxi back from the grocery store.
Security to excellent and it is a gated community.
The bus stops right outside so for 100 pesos you can ride to the centre of town or to the Mega grocery store.
There is also a taxi stand located outside the gates with the prices posted to popular locations.

We had towels and linens done twice weekly which included bed linen changed. Midweekly cleaning was a full cleaning including floors washed and also beds changed once again.

Our trip focus was just to relax since it had been a very stressful year. So no side-trips were planned but only intended to find a palapa, lounge chairs and read / count the waves... it was a success.

Normally we share a 2 bedroom but this time it was a first experience in a 1 bedroom. Obviously It was a bit different in the layout and the view but still very nice...just had to get used to turning right instead of left when coming up from the beach.

As usual, the staff was very friendly and helpful and even provided an extension cord for our CPAP machiine. The food was great as well as a really nice Valentine's Dinner with a guitar trio (no singing - just background music).

We plan to hopefully come back next year if all goes well. It's someplace we always look forward to staying. It's also nice that many staff and vendors alike remember us from previous vacations.

Torres Mazatlan is like a second home to my family - we've been returning for over 15 years now. All the staff are friendly and take care of us like family members. The restaurant is very good. The renovated rooms in the A and B buildings are beautiful. We can't wait to see how the C and D buildings turn out. This is a wonderful family vacation - year after year.

Room Tip: Ask for A or B building for the most recently renovated rooms.

First off I will say that all the staff we encountered were nice. Grounds and pool were nice also, except for vacant dry land next door which was an eye sore. Food at the restaurant was all great, and great activities for the kids by the pool. I also had a wonderful massage. Gym is small and smells bad but does the job.

It's the room reviews I'm confused about. They are large (we had a 2 bedroom) but VERY dated. Matresses and box springs need replacing in a bad way....very grungy looking and stained. Bedding is from the 1960's and I was scared to touch the comforter. Air conditioning was turned off for the season "for maintenance". We weren't informed of this upon arrival (check in took a long time by the way) and kept all doors/windows closed the first night (and AC turned on so we thought) and were dying of heat. After I asked at the front desk the next day and found out it wasn't on in the whole resort, we wised up and left everything open then it was tolerable with fans, except the 2nd bedroom was still hot with no functioning windows. Also fyi that there is no daily service to the rooms....only once per stay which turned out to be fine. Internet was shotty.....so don't plan on getting any work done. Some family members stayed in the newer part of the resort last April and said rooms were a tad nicer and AC was on that month. This year they had a 1 bedroom unit, also in our bldg which was very warm due to no side, bathroom or bedroom windows (only slider in living area).

All and all a good trip, but would not stay here again by choice. We were put up by family through their timeshare so no loss cost wise for us. I never heard other guests complaining about the lack of AC, so I guess I'm a high maintenance traveler.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in one of the 2 newer buildings. AC not functioning in February!! If you do stay in...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Torres Mazatlan Resort is a timeshare resort and therefore there is no daily maid service like most hotels, however if you check with the front desk you can have additional maid service during the week for a fee. I apologies that our seasonal air conditioning cause you any discomfort. The winter months tend to be much cooler and the only time we have to do major maintenance on the A/C .
All of our units are currently under 4 phase full renovation schedule and phase three will begin in the summer of 2014. We are working very hard to bring all the units a more updated and comfortable feel.
I am glad to hear you tried our onsite restaurant “The Lapalapa” we are very proud of the fabulous food they serve and the warm friendly atmosphere it offers.
I hope someday you will give Torres Mazatlan another try.

"Welcome home" is the first thing you will hear upon entering the resort, and it is what will linger in your mind after you leave. I've traveled quite a bit, but I've never felt such a warm welcome and a genuine interest in being taken care of throughout my stay. They keep the resort grounds and rooms immaculately clean, with the exception of the little ants you sometimes find in Building A, but that's also where you will find some of the best ocean views. The rest of the resort buildings are completely bug free. Uh, you might also see a couple iguanas out by the pool. They're awesome. Torres can hook you up with all kinds of excursions, but if you want the real deal ask for Rudy. He'll take you through the back door. This is the 8th year we've been going to Torres Mazatlan. We love the city and Torres is a great home base. Immaculate, well cared for, and the staff is family. Even the beach vendors are our friends. Be sure to buy shrimp from the shrimp guy, jewelry from Aurora, and sunglasses and a hat from Jesus. The bus is right outside the gate and the taxis are reasonable as well. The town is full of good places to eat, but the restaurant on site is four star and pretty reasonable. Bingo every day, a nice beach, karaoke, parties, brunches and holiday celebrations are the norm. It's intimate and low key, no loud music or spring break parties here. The grounds are lush and the view, no matter which building you're in, is fabulous! The staff remembers you, and if you show up minus a usual family member they ask about him/her. I'm always sad to leave, but I know that next time I go I'll hear those wonderful words, "Welcome home!"

A condo-style resort located on a long stretch of pristine beach. Each unit has an ocean view and is equipped with a full kitchen and sizable patio or balcony. The activity directors run activities for kids and adults throughout the day, and adults can enjoy two happy hours daily (12-2 & 4-6). The service at this resort is extremely friendly and accommodating, attending to guests' every need. A short, convenient taxi or bus ride away from the tourist and historical districts. Truly a home away from home.
