Went to Ernie's in its new location across from and north of the Pueblo Bonito. Everyone said the food is excellent and they were right! I had the Lady D Chicken and it was to die for! When does one get really excited about chicken? Well this chicken is worth it stuffed with cheese and covered in a creamy sauce - it was really good. My friend also raves about their Fettucini Alfredo which was very, very good. My other friend had the swordfish which she really enjoyed. All was prepared excellently and good prices and service. We'll be back!

We ate under the covered porch at Ernie's which provided a nice view of the busy goings-on from the street outside. The inside of the place is more like a nightclub; there is a dance floor, lots of seating, etc. and the wonderful old architecture and decor is beautiful to look at. Our waiter and host were very prompt in delivering food but slow to offer more drinks, water, etc. The food was average/good, but the experience was interesting.

Ernies must be a late night hot-spot on the weekends. We went there for some munchies and drinks - we'ed had a late lunch. Ordered fried calamari and guacamole with a margarita and a Corona. All was very, very tasty. There were just a couple other tables with guests.

What we noticed is that wait-staff began arriving (this is about 9:00 pm) in droves. They well outnumbered the guests at that time. Inside it looks like a real disco party place. Huge bar, lots of seating. We were too tired to stay around for the festivities.

While the food was good at Earnies there does not seem to be anyone in charge. We were there 2 nights ago and there was a children's party happening at the same time. The waiters allowed them to terrorize the whole place. They were running around screeching and hiding under tables and chairs. They were more than loud and disruptive and I have not ever heard that kind of noise even in McDonalds.

Ernie's (also known as Ernie's tomatoes) must be a very different place later in the night. We were the first diners when it opened, the DJ was not playing music, the giant screen TV had soccer on, and the service was blazingly fast. Cute waitstaff, funny props to have photos taken with your group, lots of "free" appetizers, after dinner drinks and stuff like that. The 'special' fish was the BEST swordfish I have ever had: and I lived in Miami and have eaten in 4 star restaurants there and in New Orleans. The bacon-wrapped stuffed shrimp was a little dry, but really all the dishes at our table were worth every penny.
With the movie memorabilia, I think kids will enjoy themselves, not really a child friendly place with the obvious dance floor/lounge vibe going on.
Great free parking!! off the street!!
