I totally love this tropical paradise and look forward to my next visit IF I am ever able to make it down again. We are owner's from the East Coast of the U.S. and have found it pricey and hard to get there. I wish the hotel owner's could help on this front! I think over $800 in airfare and 30+ hours to get home is wrong and makes us leery of returning anytime soon.

The spa is wonderful! The pools are super. We love the beach in spite of the rocks since neither of us care to body surf or dive, they were no bother. It really is a perfect vacation spot if you need to unwind and relax.

Like others, I don't understand why PBEB can't provide free internet access. I was unable to connect at the free deli WI-FI but saw lots of others there who were able. It would be nice to be able to use a device from the room.

I'm up in air on the all-inclusive. It was nice in some aspects but the extra tipping that was expected ran our tab up much higher than anticipated and we questioned the value at the end. Non-participants will suffer as prices have really increased in the restaurants and bars since we visited 4 years ago presumably due to the all-inclusive addition. Cocktails seemed weaker too and I really missed exploring the local eating places this time around.

It is nice to see the Mazatlan economy thriving. We were amazed at how much the area has improved and grown in Nuevo Mazatlan.

Room Tip: We like buildings 1 or 2 for a great view.

This is a fabulous resort, and the online pictures really don't do it justice. Many have commented on the wonderful restaurants, landscaping, etc., so at the risk of sounding negative, I'll make a few observations of things that did disappoint us in hopes that it helps readers align expectations appropriately. Internet: While the website promotes that every room has high speed internet, the fact is that is costs $57 per week PER DEVICE. That did not go over well with our teenagers. I think the cost might have been covered if we were owners or paying by the night. Beach: rocky and not for swimming. We had a red flat the whole time we were there, while noticing that properties just around the point and through the Golden Zone had more favorable conditions and better sand/surf. Balcony/Terrace: I suppose it depends on the definition. We had windows that opened up and a six inch decorative "terrace". Balcony's are great when traveling with many, especially when from an early time zone. All Inclusive: this is not an all inclusive resort. It is a resort that offers a meal plan. And that part is super. But your refrigerator has nothing in it, and if you want to have coffee in your suite you have to buy it in the deli or order it from room service ($4 delivery charge fyi). Shuttle and Sister Resort: We took the shuttle a couple of times into the sister resort. That resort is smaller and more classical in design, and is located on a public beach with some persistent but polite vendors. That said, if you want some local feel, head over there. But with teenagers and a 20 year old with us, we were glad we didn't have the outside influences at night. With Emerald Bay you can let them run with no concern. Timeshare Presentation: this resort system has a really great and flexible program. We don't normally sit through the presentation and had we been interested in purchasing it would have been difficult not to. Don't believe them through when they say there won't be pressure. If the first two don't convince you, the big guy in the small room will try. I'm not sure what his approach would have been but he and his "manager" sure weren't happy when we refused to stay. City Tour: We didn't do the official tour, but instead hired a small white car/cab for $20 per hour from the sister resort to take us around to the spots. It was a great way to see things and the small vehicle allowed us to get to places a bus couldn't. In summary, this is a fabulous resort and we hope we can go back again.

Room Tip: If exchanging just recognize that you have little choice and that the "Master" suites ofte...

Although we are not members of the Pueblo Bonito timeshare, we were able to trade a week from our Hawaii property for a week in Mazatlán. We couldn't have been more pleased with the exchange!

We took advantage of the breakfast and time share presentation the first morning of our stay and enjoyed the visit with our guide, Roberto, and were glad not to have a hard sell to deal with. We made it clear we would not be purchasing a membership during this visit, so were able to concentrate on getting to know the area instead.

The staff have been friendly and engaging, offering numerous activities for the entire family at the main pool in the center of the property. It has been fun to see the various birds and reptiles on the grounds.

Room Tip: There are several large supermarkets nearby so it is worth taking the time at the beginning of your...

This was the second time that our family visited PBEB. We bought a timeshare the first time we stayed; we were utterly enchanted and our second visit was just as wonderful as the first. The facility itself is unparalleled in its location, architectural design, immaculate grounds and proximity to the ocean, but what really connects us to this place is the employees. People like Edith, Lorena, Ghaddi, Eduardo and Domingo were warm, welcoming and delightful: they made us feel like we were returning family and they are true professionals. Our family especially loves the trivia games down by the pool, the beach volleyball, and making pulseras in the sunshine. Because we are a family on a budget, and the kitchens are so complete, we bought groceries for the week and just went out to dinner a few times. We recommend Brujas, and Costas Marinara for a family friendly atmosphere. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Fiesta Mexicana dinner night at the resort and danced into the night. We also have a family tradition of buying shrimp directly from the changeras at the merchado and sautéing them in garlic and butter back in our room for a fantastic, authentic dinner.

we just got back from a stay at PB emerald bay. really had a nice relaxing week. we did the all inclusive--and the food and service for the most part was ok, not great. some meals were better than others--but that's what you can expect from an all inclusive. The house wine (included with all inclusive) is not the best and the drink service was fairly inconsistent. But, all in all, it was ok, not great.

The rooms and bathrooms are nice. the view was great--but varied a lot from building to building and floor to floor. we were a little too close to the main pool for out taste, but some would see that as a plus. The wifi situation is pretty sad--but we weren't too interested in being online much while we were there anyway.

the shuttle to the sister resort (PB Mazatlan) was very handy and easy to catch a cab to go elsewhere in the Mazatlan. this worked particularly well when we did the dinner (with the upcharge) at Angelo's--which really did provide better food and service.

Except for an unfortunate incident at checkout where we learned our timeshare award wasn't what we were told, we had very little negative experience.

Overall, we'd probably go back. But would either skip the timeshare or ask for more than they initially offered.

The Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort is a tropical paradise about 25 minutes outside Mazatlan, and a sister property to Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan. There is a free shuttle that will take guests between the two properties. The beach is much better at the Mazatlan property and access to Old Mazatlan is also much easier from there as well. Emerald Bay was a wonderful experience and the service was excellent - I mean absolutely everyone was friendly and helpful.
