“Highlight of Mazatlan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

What's not to like? 7.5 miles of seawall/sidewalk along the ocean. Great views of the 3 islands, amazingly detailed metal statues (don't miss the piano player and the motorcycle courier). One night we saw fireworks and also a cliff diver. Some areas of the beach are great for recreation, other areas great for watching the surf hit and swirl among the rocks. There's even a salt water "swimming pool" and other attractions along the way. It's safe for families with young children as well.

a walk along this seawall will provide you with many sights and sounds. one of the busiest avenue in mazatlan with numerous shops, restaurants, and hotels on one side, all bordered by the ocean and beach on the other.

“A most beautiful part of Mazatlan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2013

The Malecon goes from the Golden Zone all the way to Playa Olas Atlas, and along the way you can see it all. Basically a super wide paved colorful sidewalk, the Malecon runs along the West coast of the city and is a lovely walk or jog, but if you have access to bikes or rollerblades it is an ideal venue for that as well. Several dozen restaurants, art markets and live entertainment on Saturday nights, the Clavadista Divers, miles and miles of spacious beach and iconic statues depicting Mazatlan's history and attractions are sprinkled along the way. It can be pretty hot, best if you plan to walk a long ways to go in the evening or earlier in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day. Take water, a camera and sunscreen. Down at the Olas Atlas end is pretty hopping at night. In the Golden Zone there are some pulmonia drivers who'll take you on a tour of the Malecon, and that's a great way to see it all if you're not up for the walk. Finish up on the South end watching the sunset from the rooftop bar of the Freeman Hotel, or finish up on the North end with a beer and ceviche at Poncho's on the beach.
