“beautiful and tranquil place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2011

After reading some previous reviews I was very leary, but once we arrived we were so pleasantly surprised at the fabulous rooms, decorated very tastefully including fine art signed prints on the walls,,gorgeous views, spacious rooms. Kitchen furnished with lovely dishes and everything you need to cook a meal. The owners there were quite gracious and so was the manager on duty. We had a great week there. The short walk down to the tourist area of the Malecon was very pleasant. Up hill walk back was a little strenuous, but after all the good food in town I needed asome excersize. Loved it!

We have recently returned from this apartment and would like to express our enthusiasm for its charm, quietness, view, location and all things Mexican. We enjoyed our visit enormously and would recommend it for people without young children.

Our apartment was a good size with a reasonably well equipped kitchen and a wonderful view over the pool, gardens, Puerto Vallarta and the Bay. The gardens and pool area were delightful and because of the time of year (last week of spring break + another week) very quiet - we had the pool to ourselves for the last 4 days.

Staff were friendly and helpful. If you want a "Holiday Inn" type location, this is not for you, but if you want authentic Mexico with cobbled streets and tiled floors, you will enjoy this place.

Room Tip: Make email contact with owners.

My in laws have a time share here and we have gone 3 or 4 times now for one week around Valentines day. There are lots of stairs and the road in front is a bit scary.
The views are WONDERFUL and even when it rains, the air smells great. The place is always clean and smells fine. The attendant is there some of the time.
Great place. Not good for young kids. Nice pool and BBQ areas. I would GLADLY go back and I hopefully will next February. See you there.

Mid Nov-2009 visit,OK for healthy adults ONLY, difficult if you have young kids, very high steep stair climbing, the highway entry, is a litle scary to walk on, no sidewalks! You have to walk very close to fast running buses and taxis!, The view is truly spectacular. It is very quiet,& secure, there is NO reception desk, gardeners and housekeeping is around fr 0730-1500, they don't speak english!!,even in Nov, lots of bugs, bats and mice, the cat(Sammy who is getting old)helps w/the mice, the bats take care of the mosquitos! It is private. No telphones in the rooms. They love to fumigate! The weather was hotter and HUMID than I remember.PV has changed so much!!in the last 20yrs, becoming overly touristy!catering to the cruiseships, all prices go up.BUT I DO LOVE PV no matter what!!the food was exlnt!! always order the seafood!!the prices are VERY reasonable.I do speak spanish, and that helps tremendously!!I would definitely return, BUT NEVER in summer months!!

Ok first let me say we are not fancy people, we like to camp in a tent. But we did this on exchange and were expecting it to be nice. So here are the cons, there is a manager who is hard to get a hold of, and if you call for him you will most likely get a family member who does not understand english and then get hung up on. It is up a very stepp hill, so it is great for excersise but be prepared. When you get there by taxi you are dropped off at the main gate- great you think. If you have the room in front of the gate entrance then no stairs to get to your room. A lady cleaning thought that was our room, and we got excited cause the view was amazing and the living room area was huge!! with couches and a great view, kitchen and the rooms were big. then we were told that was not our room our room was first floor downstairs. The stairs arent bad if you are in shape but we went in july (I know our fault, we knew it would be hot). so heat makes stairs feel bad. The good thing about being on that floor is we were right near the pool and closer to the back gate. Ok so there is a back gate off the pool patio. you first have to walk down about 50 stairs then there is an area that looked like they were making into a sand volleyball court, with a nice bathroom and outdoor rinse off shower. then you get more stairs about 50 more a little more steep then the back gate. this leads right to the street, then you can walk into town, to the beach etc. we did alot more walking than I thought we would do as we were with my husbands mother and husband who are in their 50s and 60s and they were troopers. It works up a sweat but you can always get a taxi of course. If you get a taxi from the top it will be $4-$5 bucks each way per car load, not per person. and this will get you to the main stuff, cost more if you go further of course. Ok back to the room: the cons, leaking roof, and it rained at night a few times and there would be the leaks. the bathroom was peeling paint and cracks and mold. the large spa tub, which is huge, but very dirty and the water didnt come in hot so we couldnt use it. there is a washer and dryer if you need it. when they come to clean they just use a dirty mop and kind move things around so although the ladies are very nice it left a dirty wet dishtowel smell. the greastest part was the maintenance guy, he actually tried to help us when needed- the air conditioner didnt work, and would repsond to us right away - the manager isnt really there to be helpful. NO phones, but your on vacation who needs one.? the view was still great and the living area is nice, full kitchen. there are no screens so wear bug spray to bed you will get bit. The pool needs a little love but we loved the design of it and used it often. we even had a bbq with the provided grill poolside. So go prepared to walk, or take taxi money, the architecture is actually very nice but needs love and simple maintenence maybe it is being worked on, we noticed them redoing some of the couches. this isnt a hotel so there isnt round the clock availability of anyone to help you with anything. just think of it as staying at a friends house. It is actually a great location and as long as you dont want fancy you will love it. the kids had fun and had their own room and enjoyed the pool. there are no other on site activities, but thats what you go into town for. about a mile away from los muertos beach.
while you're in PV we recommend the ziplinning! oh my gosh this was the best and so much fun and lots of walking up hill to start so you have to be in decent shape! great views.

Just returned from Villa 5...first trip to these Villas was 1992 and been returning each year that I can. In reponse to a previous review...the word rehab means something different in the U.S. than in Mexico. The property next door where the rehab sign is posted is owned by someone else. While just there I watched them start to rehabilitate the land with plants/shrubs/gardens and as I was leaving they were hauling in bricks, etc. I'm sure next year it will be even more beautiful. The area around the Villas has changed but that's progress. The Gardens/Pools/Villas are well maintained. The complex is small with only ten (10) Villas and a friendly staff. Just past the pools and volleyball court are steps to the main road as you can walk to town and if to many packages take a taxi back up the hill. You can see fireworks just about every night from the hotels or the Marigalante and the Villas and Pools are lit at night. I LOVE this place and all our friends/family we bring here love it to. You can watch cruise ships come and go and hear the sounds of the city.

We just returned yesterday from a family trip from Puerto Vallarta with our two young children. We exchange for a week at the Villas Mediterraneas in Puerto Vallarta.

Upon arrival we pulled up there was a fence with a rehab sign on one side of the property, this was my first clue the resort would be questionable. When we arrived there was no staff there, just a young boy. He put a call into someone and we left for an hour and came back and the employee had returned. Once we were shown to our room both the size and layout were great, however, the room's condition was less than what we have come to expect in an Interval Resort.

-The unit smelled of mold
-tiles were falling off the showers -the pillows on the beds smelled of mold and were no usable -there was an electric current running through the handle of the refrigerator so that when touch any metal on the handle you would receive a significant electric shock so that your muscle in your arm would hurt for half a day...a real hazard for adults and especially a 1 and 3 year old!
-their were fleas on the couch and in a least one of the beds, in fact I found one on my 1 year old PJs -The pool was dirty and unkempt, tiles were falling off everywhere, there was mold growing in the corners -The pool areas itself smelled of some kind of overwhelming mold or rotting fruit, to the point that I could not sit by the pool without feeling sick

We decided rather than being unsafe and disgusted the whole trip that we would find a new resort. Once we moved our trip was great but we lost 2 days of our vacation and incurred an extra expense of 5 nights at another resort.
