“Great location, if you don't mind a hike”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2010

The good:
amazing ocean view
cute, Mexican charm
hot water, clean towels
good size

The bad:
hard beds (yeah, not unusual in Mex)
located on a steep hill-quite a hike. Will cost 50 pesos from anywhere in town

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of January. The hotel is interesting to say the least. Our room consisted of bedroom, bathroom, sitting area and balcony. The bed was only a double and not a good one. The fan in the bedroom was necessary as there is no air conditioner, we thought it was going for lift off it went so fast! The bathroom window opens out into the hallway so you want to make sure it is closed before you use the facilities. Furniture in the living room is very uncomfortable but liveable for a short time. There is a fridge, microwave, coffee pot.one coffee mug, two spoons and a knife in the room. We had a few things in the fridge and they did not last as the fridge is very poor. The balcony and the view are incredable, almost worth a few nights of no sleep. There is alot of noise from traffic and worst of all the party noise wakes you up and keeps you up. The elevator would not stop on the 4th floor so we walked down once but had to go to the 3rd floor and ride it back up so we could take our luggage down. It is located on a hill above downtown Puero Vallarta so it is in a great location. If you are into the nightlife and not interesed in a good nights sleep this place is for you.

View was awesome, room was exactly as pictured, clean, old, authentic Mexican feel, off the beaten trail but within reach of everything, a nice retreat-many steps down to the town but were quite doable (stop and rest anywhere), good eating within walking distance and a supermarket not far. About 4 blocks through down town to the ocean, close to bank. Door jams need some maintenance, and the only safe is in the office. Loud disco noise late at night from the city below was infrequent, and tolerable with the patio doors closed.

Panorama restaurant on the roof is nice/good, but only open for dinner. We enjoyed Melissa's-had reasonable prices, good food, friendly people; La Chata's- for breakfast (eggs La Chata's style with red sauce were wonderful); Margarita Grill-great margarita and fresh salsa stop while shopping, Gelato next door to Margarita Grill and the bakery just down the street and on the corner are wonderful. Local street vendor food was good and inexpensive as well...my favorite, roasted corn on the melecon and tamales. Other restaurant/bar prices are about like US.

Just back from a one week stay in one of the 2 bedroom, 2 bath condos. We had a 4th floor corner unit with the most amazing view of PV! As soon as we walked into the condo, I went straight to the open window looking over the town and out to the beautiful blue waters of PV. It truly took my breath away and continued to do that for the entire week. I never got tired of looking at that view! We shared the unit with my parents and it is the perfect setup for 2 couples as each of the rooms has a king bed and their own bathroom. The kitchen and living room are one nice large open room. We used the kitchen only for breakfast and ate our out other meals. Two different nights we ate dinner at El Panorama (the restaurant on the top floor). The food was great and it was so easy jus to take the elevator up and have dinner with a view!
The unit was clean and had everything we needed. The building is older but they have done a good job of keeping everything up to date. This condo was just perfect for our stay. We loved the location as it was so easy to get anywhere we wanted to go. You can walk to The Melacon and many excellent restaurants. Yes, there are stairs to get down to the water area....but we enjoyed the exercise of walking everyday and took taxis at night when we were dressed up and didn't want to have to walk. We walked up the stairs and just realized this was the "price to pay" for that amazing view! It was worth it.

There is a nice quiet pool that we enjoyed using in the afternoons when we got home from sightseeing and shopping. We had beautiful weather all week with temps around 80 degrees each day, so it was very pleasant to sit out by the pool. Our condo always had a nice cool ocean breeze going through it.

The staff at the hotel and restaurant were friendly and accommodated any request we had. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. We would stay again and I would recommend this property to anyone coming to PV!

The room is a great value and the view tremendous. The fact that they charged me for a full stay without giving me credit for the pre-paid one night deposit that was required up front leaves me steamed. Additionally, they ran my card for the price of the full stay after only a couple days in to the 4 day stay and they used my credit card which was used for the deposit, not the one I provided upon check in. They indicated that the deposit was not noted on my bill but managed to use the credit card that was originally billed for the deposit. Shady all around. The owner said credit would be provided but over 5 weeks later, nothing.

I have stayed at around 10 different places in Puerto Vallarta and am very flexible with regard to expectations but this experience really bothers me. I wish we had stayed at the Hacienda Alemana (where we stayed the first four nights of our vacation) and had not transferred to this hotel. If I had know I would have lost my deposit either way, this would have been an easy decision.

It is really too bad. I really enjoyed the view from the 6th floor suite overlooking the bay. However, I will not return.

Just returned from a quick 4 night stay at La Siesta. I had read the reviews and was comfortable with our choice. The drive up the cobblestone hill was incredible. The staff warm and inviting. We had a Jr Suite on the 4th floor. Clean, simple room. Only negative was the VERY hard mattress - typical of Mexico and Europe. The view was beautiful. We enjoyed the fireworks launched from the "Pirate" ship dirctly off our balcony.
For us it was the perfect location. We wanted an authentic, non-ohh la la resort experience. We love the Centro and Zona Romantica neighborhoods - were walking distance to all that we wished to see.
We shared an appetizer and dessert at El Panorama - very good. Our best meals were at a tiny hole in the wall restaurant just down the steps and to the right called Melissa's (if you go tell your fabulous waiter that Mateo and Aurora say hello) AND at Si Senior. Great food. Excellent service. We had breakfast at La Chata further down the hill in front of the Malecon.
Not the optimal location if you are not physically fit. I welcomed the pportunity to climb those 85 steps or so a few times a day to walk off all of that delicious food.
Cabs are easily accessible from the street or a quick call at the front desk.
All in all a great experience .

Our stay at La Siesta in March 2009 was a terrific experience. We rented a jr. suite on the 4th floor; it was a corner room with a balcony. Lovely living room/kitchen area, bedroom with 2 double beds, and a bathroom. Very clean, nicely furnished, and the most amazing views of Banderas Bay. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We were very happy with the location because it is within walking distance to so many areas. The pool is well kept and very clean. Internet service is available. (In the past we have stayed at two all inclusive and very expensive resorts in Nuevo Vallarta.) For our taste and a desire for a more authentic experience, this location/hotel was perfect. We enjoyed the experience so much we are planning a six-week stay there in 2010!
