My lovely wife and I have stayed here several times in the past few years. The location is great, a short walk to the beach, in the center of old Vallarta. Francisco, the desk clerk, has always extended couteous, friendly service. The hotel itself is pretty basic, not luxurious, but comfortable. We will definitely be back.!!

Stayed here for a week in room 404. It was the top floor so nobody above us. We could see the ocean from our balcony. It's not on the beach, but it's only a block away. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean. If being online is important, forget it. I was able to connect about 75% of the time. I did use a service, hide my [--] .com, that allowed me to access music and other things that are usually not available in Mexico. We had a two room suite that was really spacious. We weren't there for fancy restaurants, we have those at home, but we did eat a lot of local food right on the beach. When you walk out of the lobby and head towards the water, stay on the right side of the street until you are at the beach. There you will find a little section of tables and chairs serving the best fish, tacos, and shrimp. It's run by a guy named Stevie. We used the hotel's lounge chairs & umbrellas, sat there all day reading, sleeping, swimming ,drinking cold beer, and eating local food served by Stevie. Cheap and good! Now that's a beach vacation!

As I say, I like this area of PV, as you can walk easily anywhere. Restaurants, small shops and good bus service all close by. And so is beach, just half block away.
Hotel has friendly staff, very helpful with local info, etc. The rooms are okay, clean and with small kitchenette, 2 burner cook top and small under counter refrigerator. Hotel is used by lots of families with small children.

Room Tip: I like street view with the sideway view of ocean the best. Street sometimes gets noises, with gas...

Los Arcos Suites are comprised of the larger units of the three Los Arcos properties. I did love the location. Just up a pleasant block from Playa Los Arcos Hotel and a vibrant beach scene. I loved that you were able to use the Playa Los Arcos Hotel pool, hot tub, and beach umberellas. With a friend it would have been a different experience, but I was there on my own in late September- the very quietest season. I found the place a bit spooky being that I was almost alone in the place. On occasion in evening there was no one at the desk as I passed through the lobby. I didn't feel safe. The staff were very personable and enjoyable. The units were large and highly functional. The hot water and AC worked well. The decor of the rooms was not particulary pleasing to me- cold white and blue, the soft furnishings pretty well worn. I did enjoy the balcony overlooking the street. But at night I was nervous. After two nights I asked to be moved across the street to their other property- Casa Dona Susana. It was busier, cosier, and travelling solo it suited me way better.

This is a very nice place for the traveler that wants to be in the center of things. Nightlife, restaurants and shopping abound within walking distance and you wouldn't need a taxi to have a fulfilling weeks' stay in this town, if you habitated here. There are two nice pools, it's right on the beach. And from the street, you can look in the front door and see the ocean. So it has an inviting charm. It's inexpensive. And at night, depending on what room you have, you will either enjoy Mexican street sounds or the surf. And I mean it; it can be very noisy in the front or side exterior rooms, or it can be very soothing and you'll never hear any of it if you're situated inside or toward the rear. So if choosing to stay here, my advice is to be clear about what your preference is. If you like to party, then you're on the right street. If you don't want to hear it all night, this is still a decent mid-priced option if you are sure to secure yourself a room that is either on the inside of the horseshoe shaped building, or at the rear of it. The restaurants are typical buffet, I think it's mostly if not only all-inclusive here. We had the all-inclusive. But the best part I reiterate is, that this is right in the heart of the coolest side of town. The staff are also nice. You must expect at least a 50% of the guests here at any time to be nationals. When it is not a mexican holiday, the hotel will be at less than full occupancy, and in my opinion, any hotel is more pleasant when it's not full. So much the more so in this case. But it's really nice, as long as you avoid national holidays when staying here.
