Raul on the beach is a big help with local info and more than willing to make your stay everything you imagine.
The Westin rooms are nice and clean.
Azzul Marino bar and grill is across the street and a great place to eat and boat watch.

This is the fifth year in a row that my husband and two other friends and I have stayed at the Westin. However, this is the first year that we have been disappointed.

The beach service was poor (we had to ask every day for a server to come to the beach), the beach chair area is now roped off for some reason. This is new this year. At the end of the night, they line the chairs up in a row but they don't clean around or under the chairs. There were tons of cigarette buts, trash, cups, misc. under and around the beach chairs. That is yuck!

We stayed in a junior suite. The view was spectacular. The maid service was ok... there were some days when we got all shower gel and no shampoo and then other days when she left what she was supposed to leave. We only had one pair of slippers but two robes. There is a full size coffee pot in the room. That's great but you have to have coffee to make a pot of coffee. The maid service never left coffee. To top it off, I asked for coffee to be delivered one night and they failed to deliver it so I had to call the front desk the next morning. The coffee is not part of the "room package" either. It cost 43 pesos. If you are paying $250 a night for a junior suite, the coffee should be in your room and it should be part of the $250!

We were part of The Royal Beach Club that allowed us to go to the 12th floor for breakfast and evening snacks/drinks. Out of the 10 days I was at the Westin, I only went to the RBC twice. Angel, who works in that area is great and is very customer service focused. The food was not so great there though. They ran out of food both times I was there for breakfast.

The pool areas were very clean and nice. The towel service was nice and always had clean and fresh beach and pool towels. Next year, we will plan on looking at other options instead of the Westin. We like the location but there needs to be better customer service and a clean beach for us to continue our vacations at the Westin.

A friend and I went here using SPG points and we had read mixed reviews so we weren't expecting much, and were happily satisfied. The room was fine, clean, comfy bed and the cleaning service was punctual and thorough. We had a lovely little balcony overlooking the grounds and the ocean. The only downside is the way the building is situated, you can't see the sunset from the hotel, but you can from the beach. The beach is actually a very small area and is pretty rocky leading into the water. But, the water is protected so it's calm enough to swim and they have jet skis and catamarans you can rent. The pool is huge with palm trees growing in the middle of it and a swim up bar and lots of places in the water to lounge around. The hotel is located in the Marina area, which seems to appeal to an older crowd. Lots of seniors at our hotel and at the restaurants around the marina. The marina did have lots of bars and restaurants to choose from and a farmers market on Thursday nights. It's a 10 minute ($8) cab ride to downtown (where it still seemed like lots of older people out and about.) There was no nightlife to speak of at the hotel, but we also seemed to be there at a fairly quiet time. Overall we liked where we were and found the hotel to be what was expected of a Westin property.

Oh, and don't bother paying extra for breakfast at the hotel, there are many better and much cheaper options nearby.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean, ocean view just means you're elevated so you can see beyond the palm trees. We were on the 8th floor and found it very quiet.

The Westin Puerto Vallarta team did a wonderful job taking care of our group this month. It was our third year there and we were not disappointed. Beatriz Gonzalez made the sales process easy; Luis Segura and his event team were professional and gracious throughout. Edgar did a great job with the PSAV and all of our meetings and activities ran smoothly. The food was even better than before - and we were very happy before! Our guests were comfortable and very pleased with the event.

Thank you, Westin team, for all you did to make our event successful! We will be back.

Room Tip: I am not sure there is a bad one since all face the ocean! The higher rooms give better ocean views, but the gardens are beautiful as well.

We arrived Tuesday and stayed until Sunday. We had a business meeting so there was 100 of us but it didn't start until Thursday. So on our own for Tuesday /Wednesday. The room was nice though the bathroom has NO privacy and didn't really make sense the lay out. I know its the Caribbean, room was moldy from the humidity. If you like AC its okay .... So in the am it was cool outside we opened our patio door for fresh air. We had a great view. The property was pretty empty so we didn't have wild loud people. There is one restaurant and 1 bar inside the hotel. The inside bar opened at 5p. The food at the restaurant for breakfast and lunch was buffet style. There was a big variety. We had cocktails and food at the pool. There were 2 waiters doing the entire pool area which is a lot area to cover. Many times they would walk by you and say nothing and you would have to stop them to ask for something. The food was fresh and good. I wouldn't say outstanding but for pool food they did cover everything. Service inside the hotel was okay. Our cleaning person didn't come until about 6p every night - so when we return from the day's activity the room still wasn't clean. We never got new shampoo and body gel such. The glass coffee pot was cracked so 7am we called for a new one. We saw online that there fitness center had classes and such and you could hire a personal trainer. We ask - there was 2 yoga classes on the beach for the week and no trainer. Very disappointed. One of our friends signed up for a refresher scuba class so they could dive the next day. The person never showed up. Needless to say he couldn't dive. There is a 3 mile walk you can do safely - the front desk has maps. The marina is about 1/2 mile walk and there are lots of shops and places to eat. We were told by many Pepe was awesome but we had a 1hr wait. We ate at Bacha next door and I thought the food was true authentic. The beach was small - the pool there was lots of room but again when the property isn't full it seems like you have lots of room.Overall would I stay there again, NO. They are just lacking in service and overall friendliness. For a Westin I was disappointed. As a group/convention they did good.We did our group activities and meals they handled us very well. The food was good and you got lots of options. The service was great.
