“Nice small hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2013

Great small hotel for families. Not many party kids there while we were, so it made for a quiet and relaxing trip. The kids play place staff were excellent! The food was good, staff was friendly and courteous. Would definitely return again.

The hotel is in need of some renovation and maintenance work. First room they put us in had a broken shelf and the second room had very weak air conditioning (couldn't get the room cool enough for complete relief from the summer temperatures). But, the room was clean and the view was great.
The "beach" should be more correctly referred to as "water access" as it was but 10 to 15 feet from the retaining wall and the sand was pebbly and uncomfortable for bare feet. As well, once in the water the sand was even more course and dropped off very quickly (forget about having your youngsters frolicking as water wings or a life jacket would be needed for non-swimmers).
The youth pool was fine, but not nearly big enough that the peak hours you were a risk of catching an elbow or foot in the face from a fellow tourist.
I found the staff extremely helpful and accommodating. Drink service in the restaurants was quick and they did well to ensure my two (very shy) sons did not go without. Thank you for that, but overall we will look elsewhere whenever we go to PV.

Room Tip: Check the air-conditioning strength before accepting the room!

Arrived at hotel literally stayed 3 hours before getting Air Transat Rep to find us another hotel. OMG this place is so out dated. Food horrible front staff rude. Beach so gross. Thank God we were transferred to Grand Marival it saved PV for us.

I have stayed in many resorts throughout Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Las Palmas is a great place to go if you are tired of the bigger fancier places where you are just another Canadian/American family on vacation. The staff are very friendly and the food was great for not being a 5 Star hotel. The Pacific side is touch and go with beaches and waves being less forgiving than the Caribbean, but this beach was clean and the sand was fine. I spent hours in the ocean with my young children and wasn't worried once about rip tides or dangers. Sofia (entertainment staff) made the holiday extra special for us as she was absolutely amazing with my children and involved them in all the events. We were there 2 weeks during easter when 95% of the fellow tourists were native Mexicans.....and I found that quite enjoyable as opposed to being surrounded by drunken and disrespectful north american tourists. Thank you Sofia....and we will be back.

Room Tip: I recommend a room facing the ocean. We were stuck in a back room with no view and the air condition...

We keep returning to Las Palmas by the Sea as each time we go, the staff make us feel special as they remember us and welcome us back. Some staff even remember some small particular thing they know we like, from our previous visits-especially Pedro, in the restaurant - he is such a personality! (Pedro Cervantes) This hotel is right on the beach and everything about it is so nice. So close to the Marina, WalMart (great gift shop), and a short but interesting blue bus ride to the Malecon and shops of all kinds. About three blocks away from our hotel is a Canadian Bar - Mike & Sue's- Blake's Sports Bar. Delicious food. They are always busy. We are planning another trip this November - it keeps 'calling' to us:-)

Room Tip: ....some rooms face the garden; others are ocean view. This is not a California-styled hotel with ch...

This past April was my 5th time visiting this awesome resort. This time however I brought my daughter for her first time. She too has vowed to return. If you are looking for a high rise five star resort this is not for you. This is a quaint family owned property that is about as authentically Mexican as you can get. The fact that lots of locals vacation here speaks volumes. The overhead wooden walkways and individual bridges to each room is unique. There are multiple dining areas with different choices including a snack bar that serves burgers, hot dogs, fries and pizza. The special meal however is a treat. There are two different areas with two separate pools. One for families with children and one for adults that includes a hot tub. A recent addition are the palapas on the beach. The beach itself is the nicest in that area. I love it that the same staff has been there for the entire five years. They are not only like family to the resort but treat you like family as well. I will most definitely be returning.

We found this to be a great location for our group of 9 kids 11 to 17 and 6 adults. Beach, pool, all day food and drinks all within 200 feet! It felt safe and provided all the sun and scenery that the winter weary Canadians needed at an affordable price! The friendly staff certainly endeared themselves to all our group. We found the rooms clean and adequate quite nice compared to camping at home in the summer in tents! We have been twice and as the Gramma in the group I can say its a great family place and I love it but it would not be for those seeking a quiet sedate luxurious spot.
