“Wonderful Place to Vacation”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

This was our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and we definitely made the right decision in staying at the velas Vallarta. The employees and staff were friendly and it as great having Jesus taking care of us around the pool. The resort is beautiful and has a beautiful view of the ocean and the mountains. This place was paradise!

Thank you Stephanie for selecting Velas Vallarta as your May vacation destination. It really pleases me to know that after returning home you feel that you made the correct decision in reserving with us. I hope that you will have a chance to revisit Jesus and the rest of his co-workers the next time you are planning a wonderful vacation. Take care and best regards to you in New Prague, Minnesota.

Just got back from a week stay at Velas Vallarta, in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and had an amazing time. The resort is conveniently located five minutes from the airport and provided a shuttle to the resort. The property has its own private beach, lazy river, three pools, swim up bar,and two other bars as well. Two restaurants,(one formal and one casual) serve a different menu each day and have a great selection of foods to choose from.Everything we tasted was delicious! The casual restaurant is right on the beach, offering beautiful sunset views.Tropical paradise like surroundings everywhere you look! Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff are second to none! They go out of their way to make sure you are having a great stay. The only bad thing I can say about the resort, is the 24 hour room service was slow in arriving and sometimes they would not show at all.Over all, it was an amazing vacation! I highly recommend this resort to anyone coming to Puerto Vallarta!

Thank you very much Joshua for considering us a “Great vacation destination” and for taking the time to share your experience with everybody. Your descriptions of the area, resort and the cuisine are right on the mark. I only wish we could have been more efficient in our room service department at the time and for that I deeply apologize. I will make sure that this service is adequately staffed in the future, especially in potential peak times. I will be sure to pass amongst our staff your comments so that they too can get a feel of how our guests describe their vacation stay with us. Thank you also Joshua for the photos of our lush facilities and we wish you all the best this summer in lovely Ventura, California. Take care.

This is our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and staying at an All-Inclusive resort. When on vacation in the States we are accustomed to high end resorts.
Velas Vallarta is very nice. The property has been remodeled and is undergoing some further remodeling in some of the rooms - ask to not be put near one of the rooms under going construction. All areas of the property are well-tended. The staff is very nice & accommodating to usual requests - anything we needed over and above the routine seems to only get done with a few extra pesos - like changing a reservation or a later check-out, this is similar to Vegas so it wasn't an issue -just be aware..
The food is delicious - we ate in both restaurants & ordered room service. We liked everything & ate far too much.
The activities like the Fiesta on Sunday are kitschy - we felt like we were at Kellerman's in the Catskills (the resort in Dirty Dancing) -harmless fun.
The pools are lovely & warm - is is fun when the iguanas decide it is time for a swim - some of the guests acted like Godzilla entered the pool -I'm laughing now thinking about it. It is obvious the staff take very good care of the wildlife there - the peacocks & peahens, the iguanas, the koi & even the cat on the property all add to the tropical ambiance.

The room is very nice & huge. The laundry service is quick & extremely reasonable - so reasonable I advise you to pack less & send stuff to the laundry (less than 100 pesos for a blouse, jeans & 2 pair of shorts). The maids do a superior job on the rooms & we were happy to leave them a tip every day.

I did not use the spa as the prices seemed a bit high - in comparison to the nearby spas.
There is a min-store on site with very reasonable prices on items like sunscreen, toiletries, snacks etc. The timeshare staff never approached us which was nice.

I would avoid the 2 free "tours" that depart from the resort - my friends talked us into the first one & really it was a wasted day to be schlepped out to a not so good restaurant & a tequila store. They call it a factory but it is not - it is expensive tequila for what it is. I declined taking the "culture" tour but they went & it turned out to be - guess what - another tequila store & a not so good restaurant on the other side of the town.

I would recommend staying here.

i have been going to the velas for about 10 years. we have tried some other spots in PV but this is the one we always regret not going to if we stay somewhere else. the staff is so nice and friendly, they are not just going through the motions like some other places in town. the property has everything you need for a great stay. a full kitchen if you want to cook and some amazing restaurants if you don't.

First of all I would like to thank you for the great loyalty that you have demonstrated toward Velas Vallarta for your numerous visits and also for sharing your enthusiasm and kind words on the property. There are many resorts that can claim to have very nice facilities and pools such as we have, but the difference maker with Velas Vallarta is as you say: the service. Our dedicated team of 560 employees. Perhaps that is why you continue to return to the place that you know won´t let you down. Thank you again and I hope to have the opportunity to meet you in person on your next visit to your Mexican home. Take care and all the best this summer.

A little slice heaven with an angel (Gilberto) taking care of you while you lay by the pool. This resort is so nice this is the second time we've stayed in three years and will be going back in another two years. Not only are the grounds beautiful with perfect temperature pools, the beach is also well maintained with plenty of cabanas. When you visit, be sure to sit in Aqua Bar Gilberto's area. He is so attentive you don't even have to ask for anything, he see's you and brings you your usual. We had such good service with him in 2011, when we went back in 2014 we only sat in his area. We'll look for him again when we stay in 2016. I agree with the review about the timeshare staff, don't purchase a life long timeshare, instead, purchase a 3-4 year access program. It offers great savings without the long-term commitment.

Room Tip: Get a pool view room, quiet (except for the peacocks that wake you in the morning), and clean (they...

We owned at another resort in the area and were not happy with it. Friends were staying at the Velas and invited us down and we loved it and bought that day. Now some 6 or 7 years later we would stay no where else, in fact have upgraded to full all-inclusive. Food is amazing as are the staff, just a terrific place for a more relaxed vacation. Pool side activities during the day and a band usually at night etc., ... couldn't be happier.

Room Tip: We like it higher up on stage 3 and can see and here the ocean etc.

It is an honor to have converted you to a loyal Velas Vallarta family member. It was a great decision to have opted for the all inclusive package as it is quality orientated and very easy to use and enjoy. Just the mini bar and 24 hour room service alone make it a package that is irresistible. I am glad that you consider us a terrific and relaxing place to vacation and that our activities were to your great satisfaction. On behalf of the 530 Velas Vallarta employees I look forward to welcoming you back in the future on your next Mexican vacation. Take care and all the best to you in beautiful Seven Sister Falls, Manitoba.

We actually were staying at Casa Velas, the boutique sister resort but we ventured over to Velas Vallarta many times and spent a whole day there. Occupancy was high due to season. Grounds as usual were in meticulous order. The addition of a new Oasis on beach is quite unique. We ate at La Ribera for lunch a few times, very enjoyable outside seating we chose. Food was very good as was service from Carlos and Christian. They have some new peacocks including an albino peacock.

I had a few massages and also a pedicure, so love them there. The pedicures seem to last and last. Massage therapists are always great and only negative is they have to end.

The absolute best news I found while there was that they are now offering free internet throughout the resort with no limit on devices. Awesome.

The pool was inviting, so we hung around awhile and sat in loungers, had some drinks, walked along beach and said hi to everyone we know from previous visits.

They had an additional restaurant open during this time as was high season and it is wonderful but only open in high season.

We are very excited to return in a mere few months in July with family and friends....more extensive review then.

On behalf of the staff members mentioned along with all the employees of Velas Vallarta I wish to thank you for your kind descriptions on your brief visit with us. The oasis on the beach that you refer to was actually something that we made for our New Years Eve party. But once we took the tent away the narrow sliver of grass looked very much unique as you will not find it on any beach along these shores. The grass and the palm trees certainly add another aspect as our guests can relax and picnic on a piece of our grassy beach or on the natural sand itself. The other dining venue that you mention is Alejandra Gourmet. And you are correct. We utilize this popular dinner restaurant normally when we are at high capacity and it is really a hit amongst the guests. I am glad that you enjoyed your time with us and we look forward to your family visit in July. Take care and best regards to Chapala, Jalisco.
