“Amazing!!!”
Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

This is our second trip to Casa Velas and it will not be our last! The staff here is THE best! I have gluten issues and they prepared special meals for my wife and I. Benny (lobby bar), Manuel (manager), Jorge Sosa (beach club), Ranguel (conceriege), and Denise (concierge) are amazing! The grounds are immaculate and peaceful. If you are looking to just relax, read a book, and de-stress then this is the place. The massage at the beach club is a must!!!

Right before we departed on January 2, 2014, I checked the reviews here on Trip Advisor and most of the recent ones were 5-star reviews just glowing with praise, so I was excited and hoping to not be disappointed. We were very happy! We were down in PV for 5 romantic days away from the kids and Casa Velas was the perfect spot for unwinding. If you go here, be sure to budget a large portion of your time for hanging out at their beach front "Beach Club". That was a highlight for us. It's a small private building with a beautiful infinity edge pool surrounded by comfortable chaise lounges, with a covered patio for dining. Beyond the pool, down a small slope, they have another 15 or so chaise lounges (some with shade structures) directly on the sandy beach, but roped off from the neighboring resorts. It's just a very short couple of minutes shuttle ride from the main hotel and we never had to wait long for the shuttle.

The Good:
-- Excellent service!!! Whether at the beach club or the main hotel, there was always someone ready to help. Friendly, cheerful service. It was a delight. This really set the resort apart from any recent hotel stay I can remember, including resorts like the Ritz Carlton where we went for our anniversary a few months ago. And every type of staff member delivered excellent service from the front desk, to the bell staff, to all the waiters, to the massage therapist, to the bartenders, and the housekeepers.
-- Beautiful grounds on the main hotel property. Very pretty.
-- Comfortable room, fabulous huge shower
-- Terrific beach club
-- Great for couples (no children around), quiet
-- Some English channels on the TV including San Francisco's KTVU the Fox affiliate so we were able to watch the 49ers in their playoff game. Sweet!

The So-So:
--The food was good, but not particularly memorable. They do have a talented fellow manning their omelet station every morning. And they are not stingy with the guacamole. That was a plus.
--Why does a tropical resort give you a down comforter? A lot of hotels are doing this, even in Hawaii. I don't get it. Sure, who doesn't like a down comforter...in the winter, though! I think they should put a light blanket on the bed.

The Bad:
--I'm not one to notice music, but the real Achilles' heel at Casa Velas is the horrible, painfully bad, outdated Muzac they are piping in to all the public areas. I'm not even a music expert, so for me to complain about the music, it has got to be God awful and it was. Mexican covers of American disco era hits interspersed with random weird old pop songs and bad elevator music type stuff. I remember one song was the Ghostbusters theme and another one was the I Dream of Jeannie song. Unbelievably bad. And kind of too loud. At the beach club, I finally asked them to please play something else. So they put on a few songs of mariachi, which was nice. But they need to have either no music or something more fitting, something appropriate for a sophisticated adult romantic resort, like some classical guitar or something a little less noticeable and more mood setting. Seriously, I really hope the management reads these reviews and realizes that their soundtrack is bringing the whole place down. The resort is a Chanel dress and then they're putting a tacky K-mart vinyl shoe on with it.

Room Tip: We liked our room 307--it was quiet but not too far a walk to the main public areas. We were one fl...

From the reviews I read I thought this place would be amazing but I was a little disappointed. We have traveled to many 5 star resorts and thought we would try a smaller resort. My husband planned the trip for my 50th birthday. He had made special arrangements for dinner and to have the room decorated but neither happened. They were very apologetic but didn't really do anything to make up for it. So if you are making arrangements make sure you confirm them when you arrive.

The hotel is nice and clean and the grounds are beautiful but the room we had was dated. The pool in the yard was so cold we didn't go in and it could use some maintenance as well (chipped paint and missing tiles). WiFi is free in the lobby and at the beach club but not in your room. Just the one restaurant at the hotel and one at the beach club but the food is excellent! There is absolutely no night life, so if you want to do something after dinner you have to leave the resort. There is no entertainment throughout the day either which I didn't miss, but I do like to have the option to do something in the evening other than going back to our room and watching tv.

I thought this would be a good place for people that want nothing to do but sit by the pool and go to bed early. I usually like to sit on the beach and go in the ocean but we only went to the beach club twice the week we were there. I think because it's kind of a hassle to pack all the stuff you might want/need with you.

The staff were great. It's a beautiful property but it was just too quiet for me.

After years of spending our beach vacations at the " Dreams " ( former "Camino Real" ) resort in PV ( please check my reviews ), we were finally looking for the perfect non-family, adult-oriented resort, since our daughter had all grown up.
Well, we think we just found it!

"Casa Velas", with its only 80 rooms/suites, is an all-inclusive, tranquil green oasis, situated in the middle of the "Marina Golf Course".
This little boutique hotel/resort may not be on the beach but it features an absolutely beautiful and large free-form swimming pool (slightly heated), surrounded by the most stunning tropical landscaping and gardens, complete with fish, frog, turtle and water lily ponds. There is plenty of shade available and the pool lounges are furnished with plush cushions and soft, large towels.
The Spanish Colonial architecture of the buildings complete the picture of this little paradise!

The rooms are clean, well appointed and have very comfortable beds.
This is a very quiet resort!
Attention to detail at this hotel is a priority and the service is exceptional.
From the front desk to the restaurant to the service at the pool and lobby bar, you will be made to feel special and appreciated.
A special thank you to Benny (lobby bar), Manuel (restaurant), Denisse (concierge) and Freddy (pool service) and EVERYONE ELSE who made our first stay here a memorable one !!!

The hotel has only one restaurant, unfortunately, so the menu choices are somewhat limited but the food is nevertheless delicious and the breakfast menu even features several dairy-free options and is very health-oriented!

Also, there is no direct beach access although the hotel has a small but well run beach property called the "Beach Club", which is reachable through the hotel's shuttle bus. We preferred to just stay around the pool instead since space there is somewhat limited and lacks the lush, tropical surroundings of "Casa Velas".
Another option is to visit its large sister property, the "Velas Vallarta" resort (shuttle bus available). This is a big family-style hotel on the beach with very pretty landscaping but it can get very busy and loud, for those who are looking for rest and relaxation.

The only negative we found was the fact that if the hotel hosts a convention or a wedding, it can get really noisy and unfortunately, because of the small size of this resort, there is nowhere to escape to!
We experienced one day of incredible noise around the pool when about 30 local conventioneers
let loose and partied, yelled and hollered all afternoon long to the dismay of all the other hotel guests! Worst of all, the hotel management did NOT interfere even though this hotel has a "quiet" policy in the pool area! Very disappointing!

It is quite often the case that as soon as a bunch of people are together it can get loud and all the politeness and consideration for others seems to go out the window...!
Despite this unfortunate incident we would definitely come back to this stunning, well run and superbly maintained property!

For those who are wondering about the close proximity to the airport, it is not really a problem!
We only really noticed/heard a few airplanes take off during our 8-day stay here!

Room Tip: There are no "bad" rooms in this resort! However, since this is a very quiet, upscale re...

My wife and I recently returned from an outstanding stay at Casa Velas from 11/28 – 12/5. We are experienced, savvy travelers and often vacation at upscale all inclusive, all adult, 5 star resorts in Mexico, including Riviera Maya, Ixtapa, Cabo and Puerto Vallarta. After being regular vacationers in PV for many years, we had not visited there in 7 years until this past Thanksgiving. As residents of Tampa, FL we had been mostly vacationing in the Riviera Maya area due to its close proximity to us.

Before booking this stay at Casa Velas, we had no idea what to expect other than what we learned from reviews online, including Trip Advisor. From arrival to departure we were blown away by Casa Velas. This resort is beautiful. The suites are spacious and immaculate. The food was probably the best we have had at any all inclusive resort anywhere, and the service was fabulous. There are really no negatives to report. We will absolutely return to this resort. We loved the peacefulness of the place, the staff’s desire to please its guests in every way possible, and the quality of the food (and the fact there were no buffets and everything was a la carte and freshly prepared). The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was outstanding. The beach club was spectacular and this is where we spent everyday. We never had to wait to take the shuttle to/from the beach and there was never an issue finding chairs or an umbrella. The beach is beautiful, the food at the restaurant there was delicious, and the beach staff service was excellent.

We want to especially recognize particular Casa Velas staff members that made the extra difference for our stay. These include Alessandro (who was the first person we met and was the bellman and shuttle driver); Janeth at the front desk; Edgar a breakfast waiter; Jorge and Javier at the beach club; Rangel at the concierge desk; and Benny, the bartender.

Looking forward to our next stay at Casa Velas.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Casa Velas (Dec 21 - 28).
Everything you read about this cozy little resort is true.
We wanted a quiet restful warm weather vacation and it met all of our hopes and expectations.
The staff...fantastic.
The food...fantastic.
The grounds and the beach club...fantastic.
We had a very basic ground level room (110) in the main building and it was very comfortable. The room was a little bit smaller than what we were hoping for, but just fine for us. Clean, well appointed, and when the A/C was acting up they had it repaired in a flash.
My pre-arrival order for flowers was handled perfectly by the concierge...they are a great team.
I can't say enough about the great hotel and restaurant staff...their hard work is what makes this nice hotel into an outstanding vacation experience.
We also booked all of our day trips thru their activity manager and he was excellent.
The only suggestion to the hotel would be to communicate a little better with their guests about the unique activities (meals/bbq's/beach club dinners) that are planned for the day...maybe a white board by the concierge desk or something.
We booked thru Air Transat and they too did an excellent job with two very nice planes, good in flight service, very good in flight entertainment, and on time both ways!
Thank you Casa Velas! Thank you Air Transat!

Really thought this was one of the best places I have ever stayed. Beautiful surroundings, above and beyond service that was delivered with a true personal touch. Really can't say enough about the food, it was better than some 5 star restaurants. That is pretty good considering it is a all inclusive property. If you want to enjoy a room with a nice view I would make sure to let them know prior to booking, that was the only disappointing aspect of our stay.

Room Tip: This is the only area of our stay that wasn't the best. We could hear dogs barking from our room...
