This was our first visit to an All Inclusive Resort. When booking our resort we knew we wanted to stay in the Marina area, Melia was the least expensive and it looked nice on line so we chose to stay there. We were very happy with our room, it was big, very clean, nice bathroom, and the view was wonderful! The staff was very accommodating and hard working. The buffets were good, not great, there was a large selection of food, just hard to keep things real warm, etc. when it's a buffet. In the evening we would make reservations at the Italian, Mexican, or The Grill; those meals were wonderful, from the salad to the yummy dessert. The Wait Staff was excellent and we truly enjoyed our meals at those restaurant's. The hotel is a bit older but I feel like they are working hard to keep things in good condition. We will definitely return to the Melia!!!

This is the second time we have stayed here we love the location with the shops at the marina just across the street and downtown just a short cheep cab ride away. The food is ok not five star but there is always something on the buffet which has a very good selection that will satisfy your hunger. They have an outstanding staff always very helpful and friendly. A good resort for the money. We stayed at the Mismaloya two years ago and found it just to far from town and a very poor beach area. The only complaint would be the entertainment at night it is very loud but they do shut it down around 10:00 so you can get to sleep. I have found this to be the case in all of the resorts we have stayed at that have entertainment. As on all the beach areas the vendors will ask you to buy something but if you just politely tell them no they will leave you alone. Please tip the help they work hard and they rely on the tips to make a living. If you have not been to Mexico before when you get off the plane and are looking for a cab or your paid ride into town you have to go past all of the people trying to sign you up for an adventure or get you a ride into town just keep walking until you are almost out side and if you have a prepaid ride there should be someone standing with a sign indicating the company that you hired to pick you up if you do need a cab go out side and there will be cabs waiting. Have fun

Just returned from a week at this resort with 6 other couples (14 of us) 2 couples upgraded the only thing you gain is the view although others said theirs was equally as fine so the extra money is up to the individual we loved the upgradeocean view for morning coffee and evening especially. some of us had coffee pots but had to purchase the coffee so we walked over to the marina and purchased filters and grounds for $10 and shared with another couple. room service is not free but you frig is stocked with pop water and beer. again these people work very hard their management should be ashamed at how little they pay them. we all loved the italian rest. ate there 2 nights and the french buffet my husband was hesitant but i believe this was is favorite buffet. angel at the pool will take good care of you please remember to tip them. yes there were tiles missing in the pool but i certainly wouldnt want to arrive to a closed pool so weigh your battles. smoking was permitted all over just not in food areas and yes we smoked by the pool. the elevators are awesome i am not all about walking but stairs are available if you choose. internet is free in the lobby. i would book your excursions once you get there finding your own transportation can be challenge its changed alot in the last 2 years fyi there are a few chairs down by the ocean but sand is course and black and tan not a powder white if thats what your looking for. for the money it was an resort i would do the city tour and visit the ocean grill for sure and walk over to the marina and eat at victors our friends heard of this place so we tried it with them best mexican food ever and average price around $50 for the 2 of us

Room Tip: we were in 2705 ocean view was awesome pillows aren't so good i found sleeping without one was...

We just returned from our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and we really enjoyed our time. The location of the Melia is perfect and offers amazing views from the hotel and beach. I should also say this is our 9th AI vacation, and have never stayed in the same resort twice. The Melia could be a very nice resort, but like the other posters here have stated, it NEEDS a fresh coat of paint, new tiles in the pool, new sun loungers, new pillows in the room, and some deep cleaning, etc. That said, I realize I paid for a 3* hotel and probably got that level of quality. The staff here are amazing and work very hard for the customers. We were bigs fans of Abraham in the swim-up bar!! The food was hit and miss as most AI are, but we really were disappointed at lunch. We enjoyed the italian resturant very much. We spent the extra few bucks and had the seafood meal for 2, at the Italian resturant and it was excellent! We found the steak night and La Palapa very poor! They have every flavor of Mexican beer you can think of, and the booze (when asked for) could be mid to top shelf depending on what you're looking for. We met some wonderful people, from all walks of life, and enjoyed there company very much. We did get off the resort and explored the Marina and the Malecon, in PV, and enjoyed those experiences very much. (Especially the $1.00 Corona lights and $1.00 Margarita's at the Cheeky Monkey!) The beach vendors didn't really bother us and we did purchase from them. The ocean water is warm and not too rough, I wish it had more waves to play in, but that's a personal preference. I would consider going back to this resort, if the price was right...again. I probably will not suggest this resort to others unless I know they're traveling on a budget. Again, we've been to much nicer resorts, but we found the "good", in the Melia, too and made the best of it. It was a fun, warm, relaxing week away from the cold, snowy winter. Spend some money Melia, and shine that place up!

Room Tip: If in tower #1...try to get up to at least the 4th floor for a nice view, otherwise you want to stay...

So American Airlines put my whole flight in this hotel when we got stuck in PV due to mechanical issues. The fact that they could immediatly accomodate 150+ people should tell you it's not very nice. We had stayed at the RIU Palace, then went to this resort - Holy Cow big difference. This resort needs a complete clean up, over haul. It's very large, but very outdated and dirty. There were cockroaches running along the floor by the bar at night. Ants in the rooms. The food was terrible. Not everything is inclusive. The rooms stunk like poop. People Im sorry, I dont know how much this resort cost, but please spend alittle more and stay somewhere else. I will end on a positive note - the beach here is BEAUTIFUL.

The people at the Melia were overall very friendly and helpful. We got a very good rate at this Hotel so we were not expecting the Ritz. The place needs some paint and cleaning in some areas and a little overall maintenance especially around the pool. We thought the food was good and we actually really like the Italian restaurant and we went there twice. The drinks were good and all of the bartenders and waiters were amazing. Sylvia at the omelettte bar was so friendly and awesome at her job.MELIA-----PLEASE update your beds. They are very hard and the pillows are not only old and uncomfortable but they smell bad. People go on vacation to relax and I got very little sleep there. For this reason, I could never go back until they made this change.

We had a large party (33 0f us) all travel from the week of Feb 12-19. We all loved it! We had a mix with us, older family members to young families with kids and we all had an amazing time. The Staff were amazing and always there with a smile and drink ready for you. Especially Juan in the restaurants and Benjamin at the pool. We would go back for them alone!! Our room was nice, not as nice as the pictures, but perfectly adequate for the time we spent there. The view from our room was beautiful. I do agree that we could do without staff trying to sell us the club melia, but they weren't overly pushy. The food at the buffet was great, I loved it, especially the omelet bar in the morning, but we did 2 a la cartes, and I must say this was the only disappointing aspect. The Italian one was alright. The Mexican one was inedible. We actually got up and went across to the buffet. That was the only bad part. But all the yummy drinks and excellent service by staff make up for it!
Also, very easy to get a cab or catch a bus from this resort and they are very helpful setting up excursions for you too. I do wish that the bar would be open a bit later than 1 am, but thats just me. The nightly shows were fun to watch and the performers were great.
The main thing I would want them to change is for the pool to be open later than 7!! The pool bar closes at 6 pm (fine) but the pool is open only till 7. I would have loved to be able to have a swim later on in the evening even if the bar was closed.
All in all, We would go back tomorrow if we could. We miss Juan!!

Room Tip: Make sure that they are aware ahead of time if you want a room with a King bed or 2 doubles. We had...
