I have now stayed in all four of the CASAS comprising CASA des LOS ARCOS. Each has a special charm. My personal favorite is THE MUSEO. Just a flight of stairs up form the street level entry it is very livable in it's simple arrangement. The long galley kitchen is at entry level. Two steps down to a laptop desk, with a long row of windows looking out to the trees across the street, is the living area.. The dining table (for 6), tucked between two book cases, and the seating area comprise this area. The large bedroom and separate bath are separate from the living space The tree top location is perfect for the work-station It is peaceful with only the greenery outside the windows for distraction.
One flight up and on the same level as the pool-side terrace is the largest, two bedroom LA CASA GRANDE. The view from the very large terrace of the Bay of Banderas is just cut by the tree line across the street. My big canvas LATE SUMMER SUNSET OVER THE BAY OF BANDERAS was inspired by this view. Also, the view from the shower in the first bedroom is spectacular. One of my friends seeing a photo taken from there wrote-"Move over. I'm coming." The kitchen, dinning and living are well appointed But, it is the deep and spacious terraces that are the attraction of this space.
Our personal favorite is LA PALAPA. Accessed from the pool-side terrace by a spiral staircase it is the most romantic. HUGE bed with a head-board that was conceived, for among other pleasures, coffee in bed. Just sitting there and watching the ships and boats move about the bay with the early morning light is shere pleasure. The kitchen, dinning and terrace are roomy and well appointed. But, here, the bed wins hands down.
At the top of the house on the left is LA CASITA. The smallest of the three Casas it has the most spectacular views of the Bay. From here you can see the sun setting over Tahiti. The views of the Bay here are panoramic and completely disengaged for over 240 degrees from the headlands to the South across the Bay to Neuvo Navrit to the North. Then, back around to the East looking over the bell tower and yellow dome of The Cathedral of Puerto Vallarta. We were also able to see the nearly completed Botanical Garden on the same level. This will carry the experience of LOS ARCOS to the next level.
At the very top of the house resides your host. Susan's office is just below the level of LA CASITA. She and David host a welcoming libation to the setting sun to new visitors. AND. David has a boat for visits to the beaches, coves, islands, (snorkling off Los Arcos, the three small island namesakes, is great), and the villages otherwise accessible only by foot-truly the best of hosts
