If you are thinking about visiting this "resort," DON'T! Although the place is new and shiny,, the service and experience was just short of what you would expect to receive at a motel. The staff will provide you with an unbelievable experience, and I don't mean that in a good way. Although tipping is not required at the hotel, you will find that many of their servers will not wait on you unless you give them money upfront. In fact, some of the staff will out right tell you that if you pay them, they will give you better service. Beware of the food that is served by the pool....it will make you deathly ill. At least 10 people at the resort, including my spouse and I, got ill from eating the fish sandwich and fish tacos that were served. To make matters worse, when we advised our concierge about our illnesses, we were asked to go see the doctor to get a diagnosis (which they claimed they would pay for). After seeing the so called "independent doctor," we were told that we had Montezuma's revenge; however the hotel said that we must have left the property and gotten sick from outside food (we had only been at the hotel for a day and had not left). We were forced to pay the doctor's bill and the hotel wanted to charge us a 15% commission fee to use a credit card. On top of that, they also wanted to run your credit card as a cash advance in order to pay the doctor in cash. If being sick wasn't enough, the guests in the Preferred Club had the pleasure of hearing a rooster crowing every morning around 5:30 and periodically throughout the day. For your viewing pleasure, you could also view the workers in the neighboring compound taking a shower in the nude right outside your door. If you still want more excitement, you can watch live rooster and dog fighting in the early evening hours next door and listen to the workers party hard for 4-5 hours, all after midnight. Did I mention that they like to set off fireworks 15 feet from the hotel between 11:00 and midnight several nights.....
If you are looking to have a unbelievable experience, while paying several thousands of dollars, I would suggest booking a vacation at Secrets Vallarta Bay. However if you are looking to have a FANTASTIC, RELAXING, ROMANTIC vacation, I would highly recommend booking anywhere else.
