Love the resort. The lobbies are terrific the rooms are fantastic the staff is the friendliest I have encountered at any resort and the food is good. Tons of pools to lounge and have the wait staff run you drinks all day just make sure you tip a buck or two and they will be back very often. The secrets side seems to be more mellow than the now side which is louder and more lively so if you stay at secrets you can choose your level of excitement because both the hotels are at the same resort. The resort itself is not very large but it is well laid out so you don't have to do much walking to get anywhere. Wifi and calls to US and Canada are free so don't bother with the preferred section unless you want your own lounge We were never asked to sit through a timeshare presentation so I'm not sure what the other reviews were talking about. As for the famous rooster it does exist however only the lightest sleepers would be bothered by it. We stayed on the 9th floor and hardly heard it at all. All and all it's a great resort and I think there are plenty of options to cater to all tastes

DAREKC,

Thank you for your kind review on TripAdvisor. Future travelers will surely enjoy knowing what is in store for their upcoming Unlimited-Luxury® experience! It is important to mention Secrets Vallarta Bay & Now Amber are not the same resort. They are two different resorts tactfully divided with two different concepts. Secrets Vallarta is Adults only and Now Amber is family friendly.

We are glad that our convenient location and Unlimited Connectivity perk was to your liking and sincerely appreciate your candor. It was our pleasure hosting your recent holiday and look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

Cordially,

Mauricio Martinez

It is difficult to come up with anything we didn't find special about this resort. From the minute we arrived we were treated as though we were the most important guests at the place! The rooms are luxurious, the pools are plentiful and although we like warmer water, they were still acceptable! The service around the pools was very good and entertainment staff were excellent....always something to do! The restaurants, from the poolside "Barefoot Grill" , the coffee shop, lunch buffets to evening fare....were simply amazing! To begin to describe the variety and the quality of food or the amazingly friendly and attentive staff would take up too much space and still not do it justice. Guests do not wear wristbands, and there are plenty of loungers around the pool upon which staff place rolled up towels every morning. We've all heard the saying that a Mexican 5 star is not equivalent to a Canadian or USA 5 star....but Secrets Vallarta is the exception...it truly is a 5 star.
A shout out to Bernice at the lobby bar, Hector at the Carnival, Rosa and Cynthia, greeters at the Market Cafe, and Xavier, Heriberto, Ivan and Humberto who served us there with enthusiasm and joy. In all sincerity we feel guilty about not singling out more of these wonderful people but they were all exceptionally friendly and would do absolutely anything to meet any of our requests. Their saying is "anything is possible"!!!
Hugo and Jhonathon of the entertainment staff made the days sports and games so enjoyable and entertaining. It is truly a top notch resort, but it is the staff who make it truly special.
Thank you for a wonderful two week vacation!

Room Tip: We were on the third floor of the main building and were quite surprised at the magnificent view!

Greetings Dennise,

We are thrilled to know that our Unlimited-Luxury® concept of No Wristbands, No towel cards and No reservations to our gourmet restaurants was to your liking.

We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future to continue to show you the axiom of service and surroundings Puerto Vallarta has to offer.

This was our first visit to Puerta Vallarta and wasn't sure what to expect. We've never stayed at a Secret`s resort before. Very pleasantly surprised! From top to bottom this resort was pleasing. Staff was very attentive but not so much that they we're bothersome. The food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the coffee shop. Very relaxing. The decor and design was soothing and never even felt like you were in a hotel. We will most definitely be back.

Visited Deams April 12-19. We have had a very tough Winter in Wisconsin so we couldn't wait for our week in Paradise. Secrets is wonderful. The resort is clean elegant and beautiful. The pools and pool area are wonderful. The drinks and the entertainment were the best we have had at an all inclusive. We were on the 11th floor in an Ocean front suite. The views were magnificent. We got coffee and pastries from the COCO CAFE every morning and we sat on our balcony and watched boats and dolphins and just enjoyed the view. The fire works on Monday night were amazing. The entertainmest in the lobby was great. We loved the Flamenco Dancer. She was stunning. Kudos to the staff. Hello to Rosa who was our Favorite. She works at the Market Cafe and Oceana for lunch. She always had a beautiful smile and she always remembered our names and our room number. Be sure to tip everyone. They deserve it. We met so many nice people. Hello to Mike and Greg and Family from L.A. and Ann Marie from Atlanta. Also Glenda and Keith from Milwaukee. We had a blast with all of you. Our only complaints are the food in the Ala Carte Restaurants and the beach. The food for lunch and breakfast was awesome and the Mexican Fiesta had good authentic Mexican food. The BAREFOOT GRILL and OCEANA were great for lunch. Try the fish tacos and Caesar Salad. For drinks we loved the Dirty Monkey, Mojitoes, White Sangria, Mango Margaritas and Bahama Mamas. We came back to snow and freezing rain and cold weather in Wisconsin but memories of Dreams will keep us warm.

Enjoyed our stay from April 24-May 1/14.

The hotel is kept clean. Every staff member was very quick to getting anything you asked for or need. Amazing staff would be the only way to sum it up. My wife and I have been in several places around the world, and no other place came close to this for staff. Special thanks to Ivan in the Market Café for making the fresh Mango juice every morning.

The food at all the dinning areas was amazing. Wonderful Italian restaurant. Tony and Margarito were excellent. Jose & Cynthia at the beach were such nice people and made our time around the pool special and relaxing. Hugo and the entertainment staff puts in a lot of effort to get everyone involved.

Travel tip for anyone new to Puerto Vallarta area. Watch for the time share sharks at the airport. Also wait for a yellow taxi to take you to your hotel. They will only cost you $8-10 in fare. The white ones that are there waiting for you to walk outside, will rip you off for $20 and try to charge you a so called government fee of a couple of bucks. This is a scam.

There is a grocery store called MegaMex a short walk from this hotel. Before leaving Mexico, we picked up some snack items for a couple of dollars to eat on our flights. Far cheaper then purchasing at the airport.

Room Tip: Watch the taxi fares. Wait for the yellow taxis to drop someone else off and hire them. Way cheape...

Went to secrets April 24 to May 1 it was amazing from the minute we arrived check in was extremely fast got us right to our room so we could start our vacation. Rocio and Raul at checkin were so polite and amazing. We arrived on my birthday and were also celebrating a belated honeymoon they had rose petals on the bed a bottle of champagne and a dessert waiting for us. Also the had a bath drawn with rosé petals. We did not expect this at all made it extremely special.at the swim up bar the bartenders were awesome Jose(sang some traditional songs for us totally awesome also told us some history about the culture of mexico) Noe and Isaias were always there with a smile as well wanting us to be happy. On the first night drank a little to much and my husband called to the concierge Yoana she brought us up some medicine saved my life. Yoana greeted us everyday and night with a huge smile she was a highlight of the day just an amazing person. The food at all the restaurants was amazing the only thing is at the oceana do not go if you are in a hurry. The entrainment staff work extremely hard with everything they do. All in all it was the best vacation we have ever been on and would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: I would go swim up as the pool closes at 8 and it give u the option to swim late.

I stayed at Secrets for 6 nights in April. As all the reviews state, this is a beautiful, brand new resort. The hotel rooms are cozy and romantic with a comfortable king bed, HUGE tub, 2 person rain fall shower, a stocked mini fridge, complimentary slippers, a bathrobe, and a view that is hard to beat. I loved sitting on the balcony any time of the day.

Food was VERY good! If you cannot find something to eat at the breakfast/lunch buffets, then you should probably never leave your own kitchen. The options were endless. Breakfast had all kinds of eggs, an omelette station, pancakes, french toast, crepes, lunch dishes, breakfast meats, fresh fruit, granola, cheeses, pastries. Lunch buffet had all different meat and seafood options, grilled shrimp, bacon wrapped filet, lamb chops, burgers, chicken, rabbit, pastas, veggies, salads, desserts. Honestly it was overwhelming, but there was never a lack of variety. If you wanted casual food for lunch, there was food at the grill, like pizza, pretzels, fries, burgers. Alternately if you wanted a nicer lunch you could have a la carte at the Ocean grill, but I never made it to that. You could also order room service at any hour of the day or night, the quesadillas were good!, As far as the a la carte restaurants... I cant emphasize enough how delicious it all was. The Bordeaux was by far my favorite, the pistachio crusted lamb chops were heaven. The ambiance at ocean grill at sunset, followed by fireworks was a great way to start the trip, and the mariachi band at the Mexican restaurant was a nice way to end it. All in all the food and service at each and every one of these restaurants was top notch. From the hostesses to the waiters, to the chefs, everything was done with passion and pride, and you feel (and taste) the effort put forth.

The pool area is a bit crowded, but I WAS there during spring break holidays so I expected that. Even though we were late getting down to the pool it wasnt impossible to find a lounge. A lounge chair with shade? That was a different story. It would be nice to have some extra umbrellas on stock. The wait service around the pool was a bit slow, but again it was a crowded time of year and I had no problem going up to the bar for faster service. The swim up bar never disappointed.

As far as entertainment, there was not much going on in the evening, there was a very subdued vibe. It felt like a 'turn down service' around the lobby bar. It would be nice if they opened the patio around the barefoot bar for a few hours at night. Do not get me wrong, the lobby is GORGEOUS at sunset, but you do feel kind of detached from nature being up on the 3rd floor and set back on the hotel grounds. It would be a very special touch to have drinks on/near the beach during that beautiful sunset, at least a couple of nights a week.

All in all the hotel, staff, and food were all 5 star worthy.

The people who work here all take a tremendous amount of pride in what they do, as they should. Mexico is a beautiful country and Mexicans are a warm and inviting people, and the proof is here with the staff. Puerto Vallarta's old town is safe, quaint, has an artsy vibe, and no one really spends time bothering you. Its not a far walk from the hotel, and also a cheap cab ride. Highly suggested.

Another quick thing: As hard as the staff works, tipping was never expected or looked for, but always appreciated. Enjoy!
