I had the best time staying at the Secrets Vallarta Bay. The staff was outstanding, the room was awesome and the pool are was just about perfect!

Swim up bar was great because there were no kids on this side of the resort. The poolside waiters were the best, and the all-included drinks were stiff.

My only "complaint" would be that the food in some of the on-site restaurants was not up to par with everything else. It wasn't bad... it just wasn't outstanding. Except for the breakfasts. Those were always amazing.

I will definitely be going back here, but only to the adults-only side (Secrets). For those of you with kids they have a family-friendly side which I hear is just as nice.

We hadn’t previously considered SVB because direct flights from St Louis weren’t available. Plus, we’d been to the Caribbean side of Mexico and preferred the white beaches and turquoise waters. Being made aware that limited-time direct flights were available this summer we’d thought we’d give it a shot. Overall, the reviews looked good, so we booked it. Once again, Secrets delivered.

Our stay, July 7-14, was fabulous. Swim-up Suites have always caught our attention but because of the extra cost we just never booked one. At SVB they are considerably cheaper so we booked a Preferred Club Swim-Up. Our agent also advised us that unless we had a swim-up there was no guarantee of a king-sized bed. That’s something to consider especially if you’re used to one. Upon arrival we were whisked to the Preferred Concierge. Everything was going rather smoothly until we were told that they had overbooked the room-type we had requested. But, as it ended up, it was not a bad thing. We were offered a free upgrade and escorted to view the upgraded offer before deciding. Upon entering Room 1331 there wasn’t any reason to see the alternative. It was the end suite, 3rd floor directly facing the bay with a separate living room. The full width balcony was huge with a pair of chaise lounges, a table with four chairs and a Jacuzzi. The Bathroom was huge, with a two-head over-sized shower and had another hot tub. We immediately decided to take this room. And it was ready too. Here, it was only 12:25pm, normal check-in is 3:00pm, and all we had to do is wait for our luggage which took about 15 minutes. No waiting around to get our room was a big bonus. Vacation time!

The staff here, just like all the Secrets we've been to, is top-notch. Everyone seemed happy to be working, eager to pamper us, and quick too. We arranged a couple’s massage which included an hour of hydrotherapy. Others have reviewed and commented on the prices being on the high side, but the spa is very beautiful and the step-by-step hydrotherapy process we were guided through was well worth the price. Without purchasing any spa treatment the hydro would've cost $75 a person. And we were able to each apply a $20 coupon toward the massage.

The food here too, is some of the best we've encountered, the different restaurants offer a variety of gourmet menus, something on each for everyone’s palate. Some days we just didn't feel like interrupting the flow of things around the pool area and found it very easy to grab some food at the Barefoot Grill. There’s no dress code there, just browse, grab a plate, throw some food on it and take it to wherever you're sitting. The waiters are quick to pick up the plates when you're through to control the birds. They have signs posted not to feed the birds and understandably so.

Some recent reviewers commented on the heat and humidity here. Living in the Midwest, especially St. Louis, we didn't expect anything worse. But it was. High temps in the 90s, combined with 70-80% humidity can be brutal especially when there isn't much of a breeze. Thank goodness for plenty of provided bottled water, amongst several other alternative adult beverages, and several bodies of water to plunge into.

Speaking of bodies of water, the beach here is pretty much as reviewers have described it. The beach palapas are very nice but beach view and access are a nuisance. Every day, seven days a week, from 9am-4pm, vendors line up horizontally to the beach in a roped section from one end of the resort beach to the other. There, they display their crafts and jewelry. If you're on the beach, maybe you'd just like to relax, gaze at the ocean and listen to the breaking waves. Think again. Not only is your view obstructed, you constantly hear them. At times when security isn’t watching they even approach you at your lounger.

Come on Secrets, we expect better from you. Restrict your vendors to the sides of the beach please. Simply saying “no thankyou” only works for that moment. The constant bombardment was enough to get us to move to the pool area.

Some have also stated that “preferred” is not worth the extra money. It really depends on what you value when you're on vacation. If you value a quick and easy check-in and check-out, that alone could be worth the cost. But the Preferred Lounge and Bar also offer some higher-end liquor and hors d’oeuvres. On several occasions when heading to our room, we stopped and grabbed a cocktail, never having to wait. It was as if we had our own personal bartender. All of them were outstanding too. Valentin was our favorite. Freddy was our favorite pool waiter and Emilio our favorite waiter at The Oceana.

Worth mentioning too is Miguel. He’s around the pool area daily offering neck and back massages right there on his mobile apparatus. We definitely recommend it.

Bring along thermal, double-walled cups or mugs. Your beverages will stay cold a lot longer.

None-the-less we were impressed, once again, at the excellent product Secrets puts forth.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean view, some more view than others. Swim-ups don't offer much of a view beca...

We have been in Dreams Villamagna before and we enjoyed the hotel very much, then we knew about Secrets and wanted to go as well, we were looking for a place to relax, eat and drink well, we found it!
Be sure you get Secrets, the Now (which is beside) is family orientated so, you will find kids and everything that come with it. In Secrets the atmosphere is great, you have everything you want at the reach of your hand (towels, drinks, food, everything) but this does not mean that this will become a mess, the hotel is always impeccable. You ask for whatever you think is necessary and the people from the hotel will do everything to get it.
From breakfast to dinner the food is high quality and in Mexico if the Hotel offers you a Tequila Añejo 1800 it means the drinks are covered.
Regarding the restaurants, the buffet in the first floor is great for breakfast and lunch, we love cheese and there we found quite a selection, the salmon and tuna were great was well, the pasta were cooked right there, too many things to mention.
For dinner we loved the Bordeaux the others were great but this one was superb.
The room was great!!!
Couple of things only, the elevators must have A/C and the shower door needs to be more fancy to match the rest of the room.
A down, the beach is very rocky and not the best in Vallarta.

Room Tip: Choose a room with ocean view

My wife and I have just returned home from an All inclusive two week vacation, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt that we were in paradise, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Checking in at the reception of this "Adults Only Hotel" was simplicity itself, the staff spoke fluent English, our cases were whisked away to the room. The room itself was large, airy, and spotless with a huge comfortable bed in the centre, there was a Jacuzzi type bath in the room and a large separate walk in shower cubicle/wet area with rain shower and a normal shower, there was a separate WC. Double wardrobe and a chest of 5 drawers. There was a smallish balcony with sea view. There were several electrical sockets and USB sockets for charging electrical appliances.

Restaurants.
All the Restaurants were "ala-carte, bordering on fine dining, a dress code is preferred. The food itself was excellent in presentation and taste, the house wines were branded wines and complimented the food quite well, The Restaurant staff were polite, discreet and informative. One thing I did notice is that in every Restaurant we were asked if we had any food allergies, the waiters knew the ingredients to every dish.
We were allowed access to the adjoining sister hotel "Now Amber" This hotel is for families and almost a mirror image. This hotel houses the coffee shop, Mexican Restaurant and the Oriental Restaurant. By the pool is the "Footprints" grill where you can get the likes of a delicious burger, fries, chicken, pork, beef, tinned beer and water.

Pool/Grounds
There is a small army of workers keeping the pool and grounds spotless, the pool side bar staff/waiters worked tirelessly in the intense heat, and again nothing is too much trouble.

Bars
Cocktails aplenty. Local draught beer with branded spirits, not just local brews and of course tequila

I could drone on and on about this hotel and still not cover everything

Room Tip: It is my belief that all room possess a sea view except some of the ones on the ground floor but the...

From the moment we arrived the staff provided a warm friendly welcome. I recommend spending extra for the preferred upgrade it is well worth it. Your room is located in the preferred tower along with premium bar, food prepared to snack on for breakfast, lunch and dinner and many more extra's. The rooms, food and services were outstanding during our stay. The beach and pool areas are large enough to allow you to relax if you wanted or get involved with some activity. For those seeking adventure the resort offers a wide variety of adventures, we enjoyed the zip lining & repelling tour the most along with the beach bocci & sea kayak in the pool :))

My partner and I had the most fantastic stay at Secrets in the wonderful town of Puerto Vallarta. We actually had the opportunity to stay in both Now Amber and Secrets as our first room in Now had an electrical problem, which may I add was very quickly fixed and our journey over to Secrets began. Where to start with how fantastic these hotels are is probably the hardest part to be honest. The staff are extremely attentive and the attention to detail is second to none. The food is on another level for all-inclusive. I usually get a little tired and bored with the same old stuff at other all-inclusive hotels but this hotel has a really good balance of fantastic restaurants. The outstanding Bordeaux was by far my favourite and maintained an excellent standard of service and food. Really outstanding areas within the complex are the service and the coffee shop, you don't get a lot of places that go to this level of options. Things to work on are the turn down service and a slightly fusty smell in the rooms, which I can only assume was down to the intense heat. However this doesn't remove an otherwise faultless stay. It far exceeded my expectations and I can only dream of those fantastic views and sunsets that no amount of money can buy from the lovely lobby bars, where again the service, drinks and snacks could not be faulted. If I ever go back to Mexico something very special would have to catch my eye for me not to return here. I would recommend this complex to anyone and could guarantee a superb holiday. If I listed every good point it could go on for quite some time, suffice to say I'll end as I started - Amazing!

We had a 4 night stay at Secrets Vallarta Bay which included our dream beach wedding and we could not have been happier. Fatima, the resort's wedding coordinator, made the whole affair simple and easy so we did not have a worry in the world. We had decided on the ultimate wedding package which included almost everything we needed. We just added the DJ and some other smaller items for the fun of it. The wedding was smooth as silk. The forecast was for late rain so the day before the wedding we changed the reception location from the pool deck and Fatima was able to get the French restaurant booked only for us for the occasion. It was amazing. Aldo was an excellent host ensuring there was never an empty glass in the room. The food was delicious, the venue top class and the staff always at hand for anything which was needed. The in house photographer was also very professional and the photos came out great, also included in the package.

The set up and lay out of the resort was perfect. We had 10 in our group of all ages and it was a fun time for all. The all inclusive was put to very good use. All the resorts' restaurants offered amazing food and if you didn't want to leave the pool area they came to you at lunch, not to mention the barefoot grill offering yummy snacks all day.

As two experienced and well travelled Travel Agents my wife and I could not recommend Secrets Vallarta Bay more for a wedding or holiday destination.
