“The best hotel ive ever stayed in!!”
Reviewed 13 March 2014 via mobile

This hotel is faultless. I stayed here for 3 nights in december. The food is amazing. We got room service for breakfast each day which not only was convenient, it was beautiful food from a huge menu.
The views from the rooms are breathtaking. The balconies are suntraps too.
The rooms are Huge!! A sofa, 2 king beds, walk in shower, jacuzzi bathtub, double sink. Cleaned and turned down everyday/night. Fantastic.
The service in this hotel is the best ive experienced. Even down to the pool staff coming around with drinks etc, couldnt be more attentive. Reception staff were also really friendly and helpful.
The drinks were all branded and you are looked after when it comes to this area.
Great trip- wish id stayed longer.....did not want to leave!

We really liked this hotel the last we were there in 2012 so we decided to book it again a year later. Overall everything was really nice except several issues that brought some negativity. First, when booking I sent a special request to the management of the hotel for 2 separate beds in Preferred Club we had booked. Got response by email that everything should be taken care of although not guaranteed. Understood, fine. When we came, the front-desk clerk said they only had single-bed rooms. The only two-bed room was on the 4th floor which didn't have an ocean view (the balcony had a stone fence which didn't allow to have an ocean view when you're in a chair). We said we could take that room if the discount was given because that was not an ocean view. Denied the discount we insisted we have an ocean view two-bed room as we had a 3-year old with us who is used to sleeping in her own bed. The front-desk would just say that she can't do anything and just stood there without offering any options. We had to call for a manager who immediately offered us to stay in a single-bed room for one night and just move to the room we like with 2 beds for the rest of our stay. Very reasonable. Problem solved in a minute - why couldn't the front desk have done this and not waste our time and bring more stress to us after a flight?

The staff is really great and friendly - we met our old friend from last visit Bene, who helped us with refreshments and drinks in Preferred Club. The restaurants are very nice and good quality. One thing we noticed this time was that whatever was served in night-time restaurants was in the breakfast and lunch buffet the next day. Perhaps our preferences changed a little, but we noticed more and more products in the buffet were fried or deep-fried, which made the food dry and leaving used oil aftertaste.

We also booked a trip to meet the dolphins to Aquaventuras Park. The park itself is a forgotten place - as if people who were there left 20 years ago. The paint is chipping everywhere, there were lots of bees and wasps around every trash bin with park staff just standing next to them and doing nothing. There were not towels available - I wish we took ones from our hotel. The towels are supposed to be there, but you have to pay $5 deposit and they said all the towels were in laundry and would be available the next day... I wanted to buy one, but they only has gift-towels for $30 each that wouldn't serve their purpose - they were just a decoration. I had to stand for an hour next to a ticket booth to wait for a manager to finally find us a towel - it was very hot out. Dolphin encounter was really nice, as some of the reviewers said - 5 star dolphins in a 3 star park. I'd recommend going some place else and read more reviews here before you book anything.

Room Tip: Preferred Club Ocean View above 4th floor - the balcony has glass fence compared to closed stone fen...

Spechtus,

Greetings from Puerto Vallarta! Thank you for allowing us to host you and your family for a second time. It is an honor which we look forward to repeating. We regret the way the Preferred Club clerk handled the situation and are glad to hear management handled it immediately and you were able to enjoy your stay with us. Your observations are very much appreciated as they provide us for ways to continually improve as we prepare for your next visit.

Cordially,

Well, it’s been just over a week since we arrived home from a glorious week at the Amber Now resort in PV. I wish we were still there!!

We are seasoned ‘All Inclusive’ travelers, and I can easily say that this was by far, the best resort we have ever stayed at!

Firstly, a bit about the option to upgrade to the Preferred side, it was money well spent in my opinion. The check in & check out was a pleasure, nothing like waiting in comfy chairs with a cocktail in your hand, vs. standing up at a counter! Also, the daily ‘mini’ buffet of treats, that changed throughout the day, was very nice. We didn’t spend much time in the preferred lounge, but did pop in once, the level of liquor is a step up from the regular lounge. Grey Goose vs. Smirnoff.

Overall, I would rate this resort very high, the food was wonderful, like eating in a 5 star at each of the restaurants. Service in all the a la cart restaurants was amazing.

Just a few folks I wanted to mention, that made our trip, just a little more special!

Violeta Valencia – the E Concierge, was amazing. We had a some birthdays in our group and with a few advance email exchanges, she was able to have the rooms decorated, with balloons, champagne and a cake. We had the pleasure of getting to meet Violeta and she was just as lovely in person, as she was on facebook/email!!

Ezekiel and Carlos from Himitsu were fantastic, Ezekiel was always attentive and never let your glass get low. I only wished we had this good of service at our local restaurants. The food here was amazing too!

Bene at the preferred lounge, was always there with a warm & welcoming ‘Buenos Dias’, and if you have the time, stop for a visit and one of his special ‘ABC coffee’s’. He and the other staff, always made sure things were fresh and readily available. If you wanted, you could certainly enjoy your breakfast right in the preferred lounge.

Jazmin at the Carnival buffet, was always there to greet you with a friendly smile

Alberto – the Sunwing rep made the trip to the hotel enjoyable and was always present if you needed him during the week.

All and all, a wonderful vacation and we will absolutely be coming back!

Room Tip: All the rooms have an ocean view, you just get a higher room when you pay for it. We were on the 3r...

My husband and I stayed at Now Amber in January and were impressed overall with every aspect of our stay there. Booking in to a Premier Club suite, the rooms were generous in size and very modern and tastefully decorated. Whilst it was a nice touch to have a spa on the balcony, it really wasn't a necessary addition as we spent our days either sunning by one of the two pools (guests also have access to Secrets resort facilities situated next door and is a great alternative for an adults only vacation ) or our nights dining in one of the many restaurants located around the resort. The food at every restaurant was of high standard with equally impressive service from all the staff. Now Amber caters to every persons type of vacation with numerous activities offered by enthusiastic staff throughout the day - and if you don't wish to participate it makes for entertaining viewing from the sidelines whilst you soak up a few rays and the bar staff prepare your favorite cocktail. The all inclusive package genuinely included everything, from 24hr room service, mini bar, top shelf spirits at bars, a la carte dining across all restaurants (with no booking required which was a bonus) and various forms of entertainment throughout the day and night. Recommend one takes about $100US in $1 notes as small tipping to staff is hugely appreciated. Resort also situated well as it is close to airport, marina and city center. We will definitely stay here again if we were to return to Puerto Vallarta

My husband and I have been to the west coast of Mexico every year for the last five years. Four of the five to puerto Vallarta . We have stayed in rui Vallarta twice at the Barcelo and have enjoyed these hotels. We love this city so wanted to try staying in town this time. After much investigation we selected the Now Amber. We received just what we wanted! We had the quiet private oasis of a great hotel and the quick easy access to the city. You would not know you were a comfortable walk from the busy downtown when you are tucked away at this resort!

The food was really good! Including the desserts which I have found lacking at the other resorts we have stayed at! We have enjoyed the food at all the hotels but this was the best. We tried three of the four return tis and enjoyed the Mexican one the best!

The staff was very accommodating and always friendly and kind! The maids are sweet and do a great job of ensuring enough towels twice daily! Thanks!

This resort has lots of loungers and no worries of getting a great place in the sun at the pools as you have the pools at Now Amber and also Secrets to choose from. Jose was a great attentive waiter poolside and along with the normal poolside grill was a chef once an afternoon that prepared a wonderful fresh grilled lunch that was worth waiting for! We went between these two hotels freely using pools bars and restaurants as we wanted.(the restraints are shared in the evenings)

The rooms are nice large although we prefer a large balcony like Barcelo offers. There are a few negatives in the rooms. The showers leak water like crazy so many towels were used to keep from sliding on wet marble. And the structure of the hotel is such that there can be a limited view due to a large wall obstructing your view where the hotel steps forward midway across the building. We were grateful that Rae at the front desk was able to move us midway through our stay to room 2067(this is the tenth floor of fifteen)and the view was they obstructed. Try to get a room with the last two numbers between 64 to 69 for the best view and a room above the fifth floor for your best view. The lobby is on the third floor and the room numbers are a bit odd.

The wifi was great! Free long distance calls anywhere in North America was nice also! We found the spa very expensive but Healing Hands massage just to the left of the front gate of the hotel provides a clean and professional massage for fifty dollars American for a couple! Well worth a visit at least once in your stay!

We did not find that the children at this resort were in anyway a bother to us! Also the recreation staff were very busy entertaining those interested interested in doing things other than resting!

Room Tip: Tenth floor and higher rooms with numbers ending between 64 and 69. The lower rooms have slightly l...

Wow! What a week! We stayed at Now Amber from 28Feb2014 to 7March2014. Our travel agent recommended this hotel as he had stayed there himself. We were looking for somewhere special as my husband had just completed 2 years of cancer treatment and things were going well. When we arrived at the hotel we were met with refreshing, cold, wet towels and a glass of champagne. Ernesto at the reception desk got us checked in quickly and Benjamen took us to our room and showed us how everything operated. To our surprise we were greeted with a letter from the hotel manager welcoming us and a bottle of red wine. Apparently our travel agent had contacted the hotel to let them know that our trip was a celebration. We were on the 12th floor and had a great view of the ocean and the resort. The rooms were beautiful and large. The staff were amazing. Everyone was so helpful and nice. So polite. Never got much of a chance to practise my Spanish as they all spoke English fluently. The food is amazing. Our favorite restaurant was the Bordeaux at Secrets. Our favorite waiter was Eric. We seemed to get seated in his area every meal. He was so nice to us. Our favorite Captain was Octavio. He seemed to pop up in every restaurant we chose. He was so nice to talk to. Our other waiters we loved were Alberto, Manuel, and Caesar. There were many other staff members that we loved but it is hard to remember every name. There was nothing like sitting in the lobby in the evening having a drink or two watching the sunset. This place far exceded our expectations and we would go back again in a heartbeat.

We are currently staying at Now Amber in PV. We met a host at Himatsu (Teppanyaki) another venue at the hotel, his name was Ezequiel. After some post meal conversation he offered us a special private dinner at yet another venue called Bordeaux that also had a first class wine cellar that included either a group table - for about 10 or a private table for 2. At first we were skeptical, another offer to do something we weren't sure of however Ezequiel made us very comfortable in his explanation of the evening to come. He made it sound wonderful so we thought we would take a chance.
As it turned out we were absolutely blown away. From our wait staff - to the food - to the service - everything was first class. Manuel our host and Aldo our server were the special pieces required to put the plan Ezequiel laid out for us into motion. He even followed up with us the next day with a personal phone call to our room to make sure the evening went off without a hitch. This level of professionalism was unexpected and beyond compare to a couple that has travelled all over the world.
It was a special night capped off with special service. Thank you to Now Amber/Secrets for a night to remember and hats off to Ezequiel for his "extra special" brand of service!

Room Tip: The swim out suites are amazing!
