“Clean, Serene and a Lovely Little Getaway.”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Amber Now Resort is the absolute perfect place to unwind and relax when visiting Mexico. The resort is absolutely gorgeous and easy to get around in, located right next door to Secrets. The service was top notch, every request was granted and workers beyond kind, welcoming and helpful.

Rooms- I had a beautiful and spacious 2 double room with a view of the beach and entire resort. The beds are abit small for 2 to share and the humidity in the room was quite unpleasant causing room to smell.

Food & Drinks- The food was mediocre but definitely doable with various cuisines to pick from plus a buffet. I suggest the Asian restaurant, as it was one of the better ones. Coco
Cafe was my daily stop for a double latte since restaurant coffee was watered down and unsatisfying. The all inclusive cocktails look enticing but are very weak. I suggest asking for a double and bottle option of choice or you'll practically be drinking sugar water on a daily basis.

Pool/Beach- Many lovely and clean pools, even a kiddy pool with a slide. The beach is conveniently attached to the hotel but don't expect a tranquil beach experience. Vendors are literally posted on the beach trying to sell you crap and blocking your view.

Tours- I'm never fond of random tours that are constantly offered to guests and costly however! Rhythms of the Night is an absolute must see. It's a mystical dream come to life and you'll enjoy every moment of it. The boardwalk is also good for souvenirs.

Wifi- The hotels WiFi is a drag. Very bad connection in the rooms unless you're at specific locations in the lobby and such.

Spa- Amber does not have a spa in the resort but Secrets does. I am a harsh critic of spas but I must say, my massage and overall experience here was fantastic and so peaceful.

Hotel was fAntastic..the al'a'carte restaurants were defiantly 5*. Service was brill, waiters and all hotel staff came across very friendly and genuine.rooms are lovely, very spacious and cleaned every day to a high standArd.pool area sometimes a little crowded, but not a problem... A pool swim up bar which made it very easy to meet people...could possibly do with a few more umbrellas... Overall our best family holiday ever, and would defiantly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are sea view,so don't pay extrA to have one... We like the rooms on a higher level

First time to stay at an all-inclusive hotel. Overall, had an enjoyable stay, and would recommend to families. The resort is not overwhelmingly big, restaurant options good, cafe nice for treats and espresso. Staff very nice and helpful. Hotel rooms were nice, modern and comfortable. As a previous reviewer said, the shower door does not hold the water in, and ours leaked into the rest of the bathroom. Beds firm, but okay. Mini-bar well stocked. Our room was never cleaned before 5 pm. We paid extra for the preferred level. This meant we had our own lobby full of food all day. Probably not necessary in an all inclusive where food is available all day. Wi-fi was free, but weak, except in the lobby and public spaces. Fastest wi-fi in the cafe. The pools were great. Kids enjoyed the swim up bar, where they could get soda, juice and water anytime. BBQ at the poolside was excellent. Gym was very nice, brand new equipment. Kids club was good for our 9 and 11 year old. But, they only attended sparingly. Activities were probably geared to the 8 and younger group. No self service laundry, hotel offers to do your laundry-but a bit pricey (charges per garment item).

Now, they will sell you on their vacation club. In fact, shortly after checking into our room, we received a phone call asking us to come down and get the $200 in resort credits they "forgot" to give us at check-in. When we came down, asked to fill out a form trying to find out who we were including asking our age, kids ages and what we did for a living. Very intrusive. She then told us we could receive more resort credits if went to this lunch meeting to learn about their club. We soon discovered the credits weren't really $200 off our bill, but dollars off here and there somehow totaling $200 for an overly priced bottle of wine or expensive spa service. Later, I made the mistake of asking this same sales lady about an excursion and she again did the hard sale for the vacation club, with promises of paying for this and that on the excursion. She even wanted me to sign this piece of paper saying I would go to this meeting. Needless to say, we did not attend this meeting. While on vacation, we wanted to get away from the formality of meetings, and had no interest in attending one of these. I felt like the rest of the time there, I was avoiding eye contact and trying to dodge this lady every time we were in the lobby. Kinda strange.

The rooms are awesome there is nothing elseyou can ask for , it has it all. Even a fantastic mini bar. We had the "preferred club"which was so nice because we got to check in at our own building and didn't have to wait at the front desk. There was always a small buffet at our building entrance/ lobby which was refreshed with new menu items 3 times a day so if you didn't want to go to a restaurant or didn't have time for it there was always food and a bar available on your way to your room.
The staff are awesome specially the ones at the pool.super nice and helpful. Every where is so clean.
The Japanese restaurant is really good. The breakfast buffet is unbelievably good, the selection of their food and drinks are fantastic. The best thing about it unlike other resorts you never have to wait in long lines to get to the buffet we were a party of 12 and they were always able to get us a table with no wait. There is a private beach with lifeguard which makes it hassle free for parents and they have kayak and jet ski.

Room Tip: Get the preferred club it is worth it.

We had a fantastic holiday. The rooms were spacious, very clean and well thought out.
The staff at the Now Amber were really friendly. The staff were really helpful and enjoyed talking to us regarding choice of wine or other beverages. The waiters were keen to talk to us, as they go to english lessons after a days work. The hotel is set on a nice part of the beach, and the town is not too far. There is entertainment every evening, and a nightclub which opens at 10pm, at the hotel.
There are at least six restaurants, all different nationalities, and every meal we had was excellent.
This hotel is only 20 minutes from the airport.

Room Tip: We had a high floor, which gave us a lovely view.

Gotta say I am not too picky when it comes to resorts, but I gotta say I was blown away by this place.
The rooms were really nice, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The pools were great, water was perfect temp and the beach was nice (it is very rocky in the water so I would recommend water shoes). They had plenty of activities during the day, we really didn't go check out the night activities so can't tell you much about those, Irma was great and the water aerobics was a nice way to loosen up in the morning.
The service around the pool area was superb, all the guys walking around are more than happy to help you with anything you need. Drinks were great, you can pretty much ask them to make any drink you want and change the recipies, etc.
Food was also great at the buffet, we tried breakfast and lunch there.
For dinner we tried Capers (Italian), Himitsu (Asian), and Castaways (Mediterranean), the last one was my favorite, had the tuna tartare and the lamb chops.
It is a family resort so there are a lot of kids running around and they have music playing so it's not the quitest around the pool during the day. They do have an adults only resort called Secrets which is attached to this one, so if you are looking for less noise I would stay there.
Really enjoyed our stay there and will probably go there again if we go back to Puerto Vallarta.
Thanks to all the staff there.
