This place is just AWESOME!

Background:
I have traveled quite a bit internationally and have been to Puerto Vallarta one time prior (stayed at Boanna Torre Malibu – see my prior review). I was invited by close friends to join them in this beautiful villa (group of 6 adults 30s – 50s). We had the top 3 floors for our stay (NOTE: The top three floors is one villa, I believe there are three villas at this location, so this review only covers the top villa). My experience consisted of:

Floorplan:
First Floor: 1 bedroom/2bath, kitchen, dining area, lounging area and Jacuzzi
Second Floor: Two bedrooms with bath
Roofdeck: Bar area with full sized fridge, barbecue, perfect dipping pool, bathroom and plenty of space to lie out

The first floor is very spacious and comfortable. The sounds of the ocean day and night make it relaxing during and after meals. There are plenty of fans (in addition to the breeze coming from the ocean) to make it comfortable in 80 degree weather. I stayed on the first floor and the bed was very nice and wide. The bathroom with a door was large and shower was great. The room has a safe but I didn’t use it. There’s quite a bit of room to hang clothes, but not much shelf space. There is a clock radio with iPod connection which was nice for entertainment.

The rooftop was where we spent most of our time. The sun is amazing but plenty of umbrellas for shade if you need it. The bar, fridge and restroom make it easy to relax and not have to move too much! The freezer was always stocked with bagged ice.

Staff:
Pablo, Ramiro and Petra were great. Pablo (chef) made the greatest meals and was able to adjust his style to our group’s dietary needs (some preparations were heavy or spicy, so we asked for minor changes as needed). Ramiro assisted with dining and overall grocery needs. His smooth style of service during meals was as if he wasn’t there. Very attentive to the group’s needs but also respectful to stay in the background. Petra kept the villa clean with plenty of towels and ensured the villa was immaculate every day.

Surrounding area:
The beach below was rocky but you can lie out and be on a beach. To the north, you can walk along the beach to Zona Romantica in about 15 minutes. There are some rocks, stairs and sand to navigate so wear appropriate footwear.

Grocery shopping each day was great and very well priced. Some days we only paid $20 each. There is an Oxxo (similar to 7-11) a quick 5 minute walk up the hill. The walk is easy but somewhat steep for a short portion. From my experience, Oxxo only takes cash so pesos are helpful. A bottle of Absolut was about $20 and they had some other selections.

A taxi to Zona Romantica was about $5 and Malecon $12. There is a taxi button on the phone and they arrive in about 5 minutes. It couldn’t be easier to get into town.

There is no apparent reason why anyone would want to stay elsewhere. If you do stay at this location, please treat the place and wonderful staff with respect. They are very special and take great pride in the service they provide. Tip them well because they are worth it,

Read the guest book and sign the guest book to leave your mark. You won’t regret staying here.

Stayed Dec 10 - 19. What a wonderful place to stay. Breakfast on the terrace with whale sightings almost every day. Great food, friendly service and fantastic views. The staff are most accommodating and freely share their favorite places and suggestions for dining. We ate only breakfast at CTV but all of the restaurants recommended by the staff were winners.

We first came across Casa Tres Vidas in the 1990s when we wrote multiple editions of Best Places to Stay in Mexico for Houghton Mifflin. Back then it had some rough edges, but it was still our favorite place to stay in the whole country. We've returned a few times since then, and it just keeps getting better. We think now, after our most recent visit, it simply outshines any similar spot anywhere in the world.

We stayed in Vida Alta, which is totally stunning, but each of the three villas on the property has attractions of its own. All enjoy private pools, an almost-private beach, fabulous ocean and sunset views, personal chefs to prepare two meals a day of your choosing, easy access to downtown, and virtually every other amenity you might want.

Our chef this time was Eduardo, an exceptionally talented professional with considerable restaurant experience. The rest of the staff is just as wonderful, always gracious and friendly.

Quinta Maria Cortez, directly next door and under the same ownership and management, is also a great B&B option for people who don't want want a 3- or4-bedroom villa. If a villa fits your needs, however, you won't do better than Casa Tres Vidas in Puerto Vallarta or anywhere else on earth.

Can't say enough about the entire package of what you receive when staying at Casa Tres Vidas! The staff is second to none. The location is fantastic. An where else can you stay and also have a five star meal served without leaving the premises?
We are headed back in a few weeks and can't wait to spent another relaxing seven days. I just might leave the Casa and see what down town Puerto Vallarta is all about, or not!

Spent a great week at casa tres vidas in Vida Sol for a week in October 2012. The staff could not have been better. The view from the pool and hot tub was incredible.

Our best friend Daniel made sure we have everthing we could imagine. From the great Margaretta's to the fresh guacamole every afternoon, to making sure we had ice cold corona's ready to go 24-7. With Daniel around, we never had to think about a thing. One afternoon I mentioned, I would really like a authentic Tamale, sure enough the next morning bam one of the best tamales, I have ever eaten. Daniel every morning had a big smile and just made you know that you were going to have another great day in paradise.

Eduardo our Chef, was the bomb. Making killer breakfast to awesome dinners, and he didnt even get upset when we decided to use his kitchen in the middle of the night and make our own concoctions. his chicken and mole dinner was out of this world.

We mentioned to Daniel that we would love to get a massage. He made a call and we had truly great in room massages that brought relaxing to a new level.

From the beautiful views, the great rooms, the open air living and a staff that competes with any Ritz, 4 Seasons or JW. It makes it very difficult to even think about vacationing anywhere else.

We miss our days at Casa Tres Vidas.

We went to Casa Tres Vidas for a lazy, relaxing, do nothing vacation and it was the perfect place to do just that. We stayed in Vida Sol and I feel a little guilty for not going out to see more of Puerto Vallarta, but honestly... with the friendly staff, onsite chef, our own pool, and a great beach right below us, there was no reason to interrupt our laziness and leave! We literally had everything we needed at our fingertips... and if we didn't, we just had to ask. Eduardo's meals were delicious and he'd make a batch of guacamole and salsa for us to munch on throughout the day. Daniel kept us supplied with plenty of margaritas every afternoon and took great care of us. It was exactly the stress-free, no worries vacation we were looking for.

Now, for anyone thinking of going and you don't want to be as boring as we were, this is a great home base. The staff can recommend or make reservations for numerous activities and the few times we did venture out, there was a cab there in minutes - very quick. The house is walking distance to downtown (or a 5 minute cab ride). You can see Mismaloya from the house, so that's another short cab ride away. La Playita restaurant is right down the beach and had very good food and margaritas... perfect for a quick lunch or on Sunday when the staff is off. But be warned... the living is FANTASTIC at Casa Tres Vidas and even with the best of intentions to do lots of stuff, once you get there... you might end up like us feeling so taken care of and spoiled that you're happy to just stay right there and enjoy your own private paradise!

Case Tres Vidas is a great hidden gem -- I'm surprised more people don't know about the property or stay there (perhaps I should selfishly keep my mouth shut!)

I returned for a 5 night stay after not visiting the property for a few years. It's great. The vibe is colonial Mexican. It's a great place to visit with friends -- you can find the right degree of privacy and community. The staff is friendly and helpful.

It's probably not the most child-friendly resort in the world -- probably fine for kids over 10 though. There is a mix of gay and straight people -- pretty much like PV overall.

Don't expect Four Seasons luxury, but do expect friendly service, an authentic old-world feel, and great access to Old Town.

The views are AMAZING, and the property is located directly on the beach.

I usually don't write TA reviews, but the owners/operators deserve a good one -- they have something special.

Room Tip: Every villa and room is different, so you need to look at the photos and understand the lay-out. I...
