“Just lovely!”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Went here for a friends wedding. It was simply amazing. The rooms are so cozy and clean. Cleaned everyday and restocked. The food was delicious! The beach, beautiful. Been to mexico 6 times and this is the best place I have ever stayed at.

Family of four with a 10 and 12 year old for Spring Break with 3 other families. We all loved this place. The resort had a nice pool with very friendly staff. I played volleyball no the beach with the other guests and enjoyed the pool activities every day.

The mountains are gorgeous and the beach was very pretty. The only downside was that their were jelly fish in the water 4 out of 7 days. The surrounding cliffs were very pretty and every morning we would wake up viewing the beautiful Pacific and see dolphins swimming in front of the resort. The kids did parasailing right from the beach and a local charter fishing boat was there if you wanted to go fishing.

The rooms were good. Every room is a room with a view of the ocean. We opted for a King bed, and we brought in two roll-away beds for our kids to sleep on.

We did not partake of the gym, but we did go running into old town Puerto Vallarta every other morning. It's quite a hilly run, and the mile along the windy road to town is a bit sketchy, but we did see other runners every day. Once in town we ran along the boardwalk which was very cool. It was easy to put together a beautiful six mile run. Bring water!

One day we headed to Los Animos which was a fun trip. We actually tried the local transportation using the local bus for about fifty cents. Once we got to the fishing village, we haggled with the water taxis and got a ride to Los Animos and spent the day at the beach there. It was cool. If you don't want a water taxi, you can hike. We also did an excursion where we zip lined through the forest and rapelled down waterfalls and stuff. That was very very cool, but the river water was VERY VERY cold. Fortunately, they supply wetsuit shirts to keep you warm. We also did an excursion via catamaran to Las Caletas which was also pretty fun. Lots of stuff to do there with the kids, including a Sea Lion encounter that was a real highlight.

After doing the East coast of Latin America, this was a real contrast. the jagged mountains along the Pacific are truly breathtaking and we really really enjoyed this trip. The visits into town were also a real highlight. All-inclusives tend to shelter you from the locals, but it was very easy and safe for us to visit town where we got a bit of local flavor.

The food was pretty good here. Like most places, outside of the USA, I was disappointed in the beef, but everything else was really great. I had my birthday here and the staff went out of their way to make my birthday dinner special.

This was a great resort and we would definitely consider coming back here again. When we went Spring Break it was under the "Dreams" label, so I'd be interested what it's like under the Hyatt brand now.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high up as you can get. The views of the Ocean are spectacular.

Great view of the ocean. If you want just relax by the the pacific ocean with all the comfort, this is the place. Puerto Vallarta has been changing a lot and getting more international and less mexican but still unique.. It's at 6/7 km for the resort. Too many family with kids.

We stayed here in April 2014 and were pleasantly surprised. We ended up with a southern corner room near the top of the older tower that was amazing. The views from the room could not be beat and were something we will never forget. We were a little worried as we were booked to be there just before the resort closed down, however overall we were not disappointed. The a-la-cart breakfast and lunch were exactly what we wanted and are something we are going to be looking for in future resorts we visit. The only disappointment we had was that things were starting to close down on the last couple of days of our visit which we were told by the hotel would not happen. Over all the effect on our stay was mostly limited except for the day we were leaving, however we did notice that the quality on some of the items in our room did decrease as we neared the end of our stay. We really enjoyed the Dreams resort experience and would consider returning to another Dreams Resort. Once the renovations are completed on this resort, and it is reopened by Hyatt we would consider going back as well as the location can not be beat.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor, the views are way better as you will be above the trees.

We had stayed here last year when it was the Dreams Puerto Vallarta resort. Overall our experience here was very pleasant. It was a very nice resort for it being all inclusive. The food at all of the restaurants was surprisingly very good with plenty of options to choose from. The drinks were always cold. Service was great. They also served top shelf liquor at the majority of the bars on the resort which was a plus for me as I love Jack Daniels. The rooms were clean and spacious. The grounds were very well maintained. Beach was okay nothing out of the ordinary. Pools were always busy however the swim up bars made up for it. I would highly recommend staying here. My only complaint is that it is a long drive to and from the airport.

This hotel property has been our vacation destination for 20+ years. It was originally Camino Real, then Dreams, soon to be Hyatt Ziva. We are anxiously waiting to make a reservation for December just as soon as the hotel permits. We agree with previous posters: the property has traditional old Mexico charm, the beach is wonderful, landscaping is beautiful, and the views of the mountains and jungle are amazing. With all this being said, it is the staff who truly makes the hotel extra special. Please, please keep them on.

I have stayed at the dreams twice in the past two years and out of 11 trips to Mexico, the ones to the Dreams Puerto Vallarta were the best. It is so sad to hear that the resort is changing hands. All of the beautiful old mexican details made the resort so unique and unlike anywhere else I have ever stayed.

As everyone else has said here, the staff was absolutely amazing! They made there job seem like it wasn't a job, and always took it upon themselves to become our friends. Even on my second visit, I was remembered by many, and of course I remembered all of them. I REALLY hope that the new hotel owners bring the Dreams staff back and treat them AMAZINGLY as they are 100% what made the Dreams PV so incredible.

I am very interested to see what they are doing to the resort and I very much so hope they do not ruin the beauty it already held.

Good bye to the resort that holds some of my most amazing vacation memories.. I hope I will be able to return next Spring and see what has been done to the place and the staff. All in all, I truly hope that Hyatt is taking into consideration all of the reviews here on TripAdvisor.

Room Tip: All rooms have an amazing ocean view.
