“Great place to stay in PV”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

We had dinner at Casa Isabel and loved it and wanted to come back. We own a condo in Quayabitos, but that dinner was so memorable that we wanted to stay at Casa Isabel in P V. Well we did that and had another memorable dinner. Great staff, great views, great food....everything is 1st class we went to bed last night looking at the Bay of Banderas, and woke up to the same gorgeous view. I had a hot tub on the upper terrace at 7:00 AM...what a view. We highly recommend it for the quality and value.

Room Tip: From what I have seen, all rooms are great.

Last year we raved about this restaurant in Trip Advisor so we had to go back and try it again. It was just not the same. You can’t take away one of the best sunset views in Puerto Vallarta but the food has lost a little and the service was just poor. After our incredible meal last year we were shocked. We had an early reservation. The restaurant was maybe 25% full. We could not find an excuse. Don’t confuse the hotel reviews with the restaurant reviews. With all of the great restaurants in Puerto Vallarta I think we will try a few others before returning to Casa Isabel.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Isabel back in Nov 2012. We had an amazing time. We wanted more of an urban/beach experience this trip so chose the Casa Isabel based on TA reviews. I don't like to be surprised when I show up at a hotel, so It was great to see that Casa Isabel was just as beautiful and fun as I had pictured. The small pool area was lively, but not crowded and the day waiter/bartender in the restaurant had no problems coming down the steps to serve us drinks and awesome shrimp Quesadilla's- the best we had in PV. Same with the hot tubs- the best views of the city while getting drinks brought to you- that was a perfect set-up for us. I just returned from Disney and there was a 100x more magic sitting up on the hill at Casa Isabel than at Magic Kingdom!

The walk to town is steep but quick. For an average mid-30's couple, it was a moderate work out, but it really did make me feel less lazy considering we weren't holding back on drinking or eating! I loved the walk to Freddy Toucan's for breakfast in the morning from which we could hit the beach right after and settle into a beach bar chair for the day. It was great having the best beach/beach bars in PV within a short walk- this was a must for us for a non-beachfront property.

We will definitely be going back to Casa Isabel- they have a great vibe and set up for staying in PV.

We had several recommendations for this restaurant. Actual experience was seriously disappointing. After being seated, we had to ask to place a drink order, ask for menus and ask for bread. We ordered appetizers and mains. The Antipasta plate was disappointing as there was no salami and only a small slice of prosciutto. Carpaccio was tasty but portion was very small. When we were half way through applies, main courses were brought out by busperson and sent back to kitchen by server as we were not finished with applies. When mains were served, prawns were overlooked and tough, as was the Catch of the Day. Smoked salmon fettuccine was lukewarm & returned to kitchen with replacement plate new, hot but lacking in flavour. Obviously, mains were kept under heat lamp after early delivery to table. We didn't bother with desert. Too bad, we were looking forward to a memmorable meal. Wrong memories.

I have held off writing a review hoping that I could come up with the right words, but I wanted to write it before too much time had passed. So . . . this review doesn't even begin to touch the surface of describing of how much we love Casa Isabel.

We stayed at Isabel in early/mid January with two other couples who were visiting for the first time. It was our second stay there but we have visited for drinks and meals many times. From the moment you walk in to the place you are instantly relaxed. We were again amazed at the beauty and comfort the accommodations provided. This visit we stayed in Dave's Office (hotel room 202) which is as described on the website, for the "budget conscious traveler who appreciates luxury." It was very nice, and while not the biggest room there, it was exactly what we expected. We were very pleased. Much attention to detail was paid when designing CI, down to the the many little paths and different decks to spend some time just relaxing and hanging out.

The best part of visiting Casa Isabel is Isabel herself. A charming and warm lady who loves to meet her guests and makes sure they are treated well. And her entire staff is just second to none.

Once again, we were treated as if we were staying at someone's home and are already planning our next visit. Oh, and the friends are hooked too. ;)

We are so happy to say that we have found a new "home away from home"!

We have just returned from a wonderful two weeks stay at Casa Isabel. The view from our room (402) was spectacular both day and night. All the staff were outstanding and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them. Our room was well equipped, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We were lucky enough to be invited to join Isabel and her friends on a trip into the mountains. It was a wonderful, unexpected experience and an added bonus to our stay in this lovely hotel. Yes, the walk up to the hotel is pretty steep but we only took a taxi once after a particularly tiring day of shopping and we are both in our 70's. Our one disappointment was that we could only pick up the WiFi in the restaurant but it was a pleasure to chat with Alicio and have a great cappuccino early in the morning before it became busy. We will certainly return to this great hotel on our next trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view.

We were excited to have a great meal while catching the sunset overlooking the bay. The view was great, the food was dissapointing. Ordered the antipasto, described as prosciutto, salami, mortadella with some cheese and chutney. Received a plate of cheese and chutney with a little mortadella. The waiter was quick to bring it back to the kitchen and returned with added ham but no proscuitto or salami explaining that they were out. Should have been stated when ordered.

Not getting his meat fix my husband ordered the filet mignon and was happy. My coconut and pistachio shrimp was nice but tasted like what you get at any big chain restaurant for an appetizer, greasy.

Guess we should have followed the majority, go for happy hour and watch a great sunset!!
